Genuine question: Has Curse of Agony been cut from Curselock, and why? Is it because it was mostly Reno protection and Lone Ranger no longer cares about current dupes?
I still use it in my curse deck, and it works just fine. For me, it's not so much defeating highlander mechanics as it is creating a sense of escalating danger for the opponent if they draw cards, and a lot of decks these days rely on burning through their decks. One CoA isn't a lot of damage, mind you, but I've got ways of getting 2-3, even more CoAs into the opponents deck, and that alone can be a win condition unto itself. If you're going to go curse, you really have to commit to the mechanic, because curses are all about escalation, and it's not until the curse damage gets to 5+ that you start getting really provocative. My deck is basically Roffle's, plus a bunch of control cards, especially those meant to deal with token decks, since that's what bots play.

@@amberlee4536 By the looks of it, he's got all the Abyssal Curse cards. Hell, the deck I run even has Rafaam's curse as well, because you HAVE to spend it to get rid of it, instead of abyssals that go away after 2 turns. Best part is that bots aren't programmed to spend Rafaam's curse, so if you get it into their hand early, it's a guaranteed 2 damage a turn.
@@amberlee4536 Most bots are token-based, and they all seem to run the same decks per class; I've noticed there's totem shaman, pirate rogue, and I've even noticed a couple death knight ones. They all rely on 3, maybe 4 quickly made boards that they'll then buff once it hits some threshold, but it almost never reaches that point with my deck, unless I mulligan and draw poorly. I have seen, on many occasions, that a bot will use up what cards they have, essentially have almost empty hand, plenty of mana, and still not spend the Rafaam's curse. I have noticed that the bots will spend the abyssal curses if they have no other options, which is new. Now, player decks are another matter entirely, and my deck is absolutely hard countered by demon seed warlocks, because my mechanic is helping theirs. It also kinda stinks with those really cheesy otk decks, but depending on how lucky I am with draws, I can usually defeat some part of their win conditions.

Mostly Implock using curses as a burn finish in case imp swarm wasn't good enough; very often it wasn't because everyone was using renathal + Denatrius, although that deck could not play denatrius itself. Was a consistent tier 1/2 up until they rotated all the demon support and shadow support in festival of legends.

@@Manzugs My curse deck includes Curse of Rafaam. It's a good filler card, but unlike the other curse type spells, it doesn't escalate in damage. It's value comes from the fact that the opponent MUST play it in order to be rid of the damaging effect, but it's value rapidly diminishes if you don't have the ability to do so in the first couple turns, because by the mid and especially late game, most players will have sufficient mana to immediately remove it first turn they get it. At that point, it's value can only be extended if it can be copied by tamsin. 2 mana is no big deal late game; 4 mana is getting to the point it locks out some options.
I remember the classic Imp Curse Warlock. Didn't have the cards myself, but Nathria had a lot of fun decks. Always fun figuring out when to overdraw for fatigue etc

@@LabTech41 yeah even the actual official AI won't play Rafaam's Curse until it's way too late in solo adventures and things like that.

If you keep your hand full, they can’t curse you. On the other hand, they pretty much won’t be able to draw any new cards for the rest of the game.
