  • We head up to Squamish on the November long weekend in our Roadtrek Zion to try out the Klahanie Campground. We managed to book a great site, and the campground is steps away from Shannon Falls Provincial Park and the trail network that connects to the Sea to Sky Gondola and the Stawamus Chief mountain trails. Over the weekend we enjoy a walk to the falls, a hike of the 3 peaks of the Chief, and get a chance to see eagles and other wildlife at the Squamish River.

      Adrian Hockey agreed and thank you for the comments! Funny part was it was cool enough out that while Miki was drinking wine, she also had to wear gloves! Not a usual combination😊

      Billyt agreed, we have mountains, oceans, desert and rainforests all close at hand, but this time of year parts of Arizona and NM look especially appealing 🌞 too! Typically here on the coast our winters are mild, so crossing our fingers! And glad you enjoyed!

    Best video yet! I lived in Squamish for a few months and always admired the Chief. So that is what the view is like from up there. Stunning! How do those trees ever survive growing out of solid rock? The eagles on the river in Brackendale are a huge attraction. It looks like the town has grown alot since Imwas there. Awesome campsite.

      Where's Wendy wow..17 years in the Gulf Islands and you lived in Squamish..you are a true west-coaster! So glad we could share the views and wonder the same thing about those trees...you can see they do have long roots. Yes, Squamish has had a lot of growth in the last several years!! Last, We truly loved that campsite.🚐

    I believe the helicopter was there to fly you from peak to peak and back down so you could get to the Squamish and fly fish!! Ur just teasing at 18:21:)) Beautiful, challenging hike. All that granite reminded me of Yosemite. Loved the view at 9:05 and good music selection.

      Fly Fish you guessed correctly as to the helicopter 😊. Yes, the Chief is a great a hike and an even better climb...somewhat of a rock climbers paradise. As for the fishing, it was your suggestion from our last video that lead us to heading over to the Squamish river! We thought you would enjoy! 🎣

      We stayed in #100 and agree about the view! We also liked 101-104, but believe 100 the best. Here is link to their map: klahaniecampground.com/park_map.html

    Wow, breathtaking. So much of BC I missed when I lived out there. So busy with work. If I could do it again I would have a more balanced approach to life. Thank you for showing me that beautiful scenery. Are you winterized at this point?

      Marc Dsh you are most welcome and glad you enjoyed! 🏔🌲🚐. And yes, we winterized a few weeks ago (there is an earlier video if of interest), though hasn’t really been needed to date.

    Can I ask why you use a space heater as opposed to using the heater in the RV since you were plugged in?

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justplain Me thanks for the question. The space heater is both quieter and feels like a drier heat. Furnace works well, and no concerns if no power (most places we stay), but you do hear it come on and off.

    Hi there! When using your electric heater in cold temps, do you experience a lot of condensation buildup? I would imagine with 2 people in a class B, there would be. Also, do you circulate air in or out throughout the night with the ceiling/rooftop fan to help control moisture buildup? Want to avoid developing that mildew smell. Thanks!

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      joapps the short answer is yes, unless you keep a window open. It seems to be the worst when just above freezing, so you can either keep a window open a little (hoping it doesn’t rain) or the roof vent open (we have a vent cover so that works well), but you also lose heat! Using an electric heater produces less moisture than the furnace (we think) so that helps too, but you usually still end up with some condensation under any window cover (used to insulate). We ensure we get any condensation cleared and a dry van at end of trip and always have two desiccant containers on board which seems to help a lot.
