Really appreciate the videos you have shared. I could use some help if you can spare some thoughts. Technics SL-D205. Worked fine when I bought a few weeks ago. Was cleaning and lifted the automatic mechanism plate to look at the tonearm pivot/lifter. I think logic got messed up. Tonearm will not move toward the platter, manually. Auto doesn't move it either. Something is physcially blocking it. I thought cycling power would clear logic but nothing works. I have a brick now without some way to clear this out. Any guidance appreciated!

Wish I could help…sounds like a mechanical misalignment but without having one in front of me to reference, it’s just a guess.

Great vid, many thanks. The cueing action on mine doesn't work, it's in the up position, but all the mechanism seems to be in place. Is the mechanism totally manual or are electronics involved? Would appreciate your thoughts.

Pretty sure it's 100% mechanical...per the block diagram in the SM there is no tonearm movement circuit.

Hello MVHIfi, I recently went over a GW find, a nice SL-7 with original cart. Rod was gummy of course as were the plastic gears to the motor. On the motor s plastic gears. I cleaned all the yellowed sticky grease and replaced with fresh lithium but on the stylus rod, I thought, Dupont ceramic dry lube might be nice here so placed, seems to "glide" on the rod now with minimal friction. Any thoughts here about pros/cons?

The more I work on these types of tables, the more I am leaning away from lithium grease and toward 3n1 oil. I had not considered dry lube.
