This song is about overcoming obstacles, and saying when you get knocked down you need to get back up. when you asked what was going on here...in the music video of this song (which better tells the story, you should check it out) the girls get knocked down "fighting " one of their obstacles. but then "power up" to eventually win.
Welcome back and great reaction. BABYMETAL earned their "Best Live Band" awards - and the rest of the awards they've won (about 30 so far I think). The first voice you heard was Moametal, her lines in this song were more chant than singing as such. Su-metal is the lead vocalist and she is incredibly versatile, the whole concept for BABYMETAL was devised, formed and developed around her vocal talents and stage presence. 'Karate' is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and reflects their culture - it is also all about always moving forward, which is BABYMETAL's own philosophy too. They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists, so maybe the experts might not be so impressed).
SuMetal is a soprano with a C4 to G5# range (G6# once, when performing with Rob Halford). And she delivers while performing perfect choreography too. I've heard that she practices her breath control by running on a treadmill and singing...whether that's true or not is something Only The Fox God Knows. 🦊🤘🤘🦊
Their choreography is often tied to the lyrics of the song, which most people won't notice because it's in Japanese. The song is about fighting on when faced by adversity and to help each other when we fall. One of the best examples of misunderstood choreography would be their song Headbanger, in which Moa (and previously Yui) pulls her black pigtails which may look odd unless you understand that Su had just sung about the "gorgeous raven hair".
Good to see you back! You should listen to their new song Monochrome...her voice is absolutely spectacular in that song. Another band you should check out is called Band-Maid. They have incredible musicianship and vocals. I recommend Dice (MV) first, then a live performance such as Domination or Wonderland. This was a great reaction! thank you! 🦊
Welcome back to BabyMetal Galaxy. 🦊🤘 Budokan 2021 marks their 10 years anniversary celebration and seal the Metal Resistance chapter along with another seal for the group, fortunately that seal is already broken since they recently released their new singles and kick start of their new era, get ready for new BM side we've never seen before, 2 already out and 3 more coming next year along with live performance and upcoming 4th album release, later on they will join Sabaton's Europe Tour. They fought against many enemies on this road and many more battles, but they manage to get through all of it, and this song is one of those strong weapons they had, to fight and conquer every metal heart that don't believe in them, you probably already know Road Of Resistance if not I highly recommend to check it out. Budokan is just a name for general martial arts place, there are other Budokan throughout Japan but this one in Tokyo is the most important and is big, this is the place any artist wants to reach when you're over the top, and they did it already in 2014 when they were even younger and having many struggles so they needed a revenge to pull away those ghosts from the past. Sadly this 2021 live concerts is a half capacity due to covid restrictions and safety measures and crowd wasn't allowed to mosh'sh, crowd surfing or shout without face mask, instead they can stomp their feet, clap their hands or doing a human wave, at least they can do something to participate in this epic and memorable date event. Momoko Okazaki was the _avenger_ or third backup dancer filling the third spot in all these 10 live concerts. If you want the real highlights songs on this 10 BABYMETAL Years live shows I highly recommend you not to miss: - "From Dusk Till Dawn" (long time waited proshot version) - Akatsuki. (SuMetal solo mixed with a little bit of the Unfinished Version) - Onedari Daisakusen (MoaMetal solo along with baby-foxes) - GJ! (another MoaMetal solo) - No Rain No Rainbow (SuMetal "playing" the piano) - In The Name Of - Babymetal Death Shin Version - BxMxC - Syncopation. Of course their classic songs and the rest are enjoyable too. You can find all these songs with watermarked logo safe to react at Babymetal Reactor Resource channel, check "Future Plans" vid and follow instructions to get all of them. If you want another version of this song to enjoy SuMetal vocal improvisation then i recommend you live at Download Festival 2016, is even more beautiful and epic. Thanks for your breakdown and see you next time. 🦊🤘🔥
Welcome back and great to see you doing another Babymetal reaction. I still remember your reaction to “Rondo of Nightmare”. Karate is about fighting with your friends even when life knocks you down and never give up. You should defo check out “From Dusk Till Dawn” which was also performed at the 10 Babymetal shows in 2021 at the famous Budokan arena! It’s a masterpiece, I promise! ❤
I hope the surgery went well. As Babymetal would say stay safe stay metal. A new avatar is born in 1997. Her name is Su-metal. Lol. After the pandemic attacked and the world needed her most. Su-metal returned. Along with Moametal to bring hope back to the world. Babymetal has a new album due out in March. two songs have been released from it so far. Very cool. They have several music videos and for those songs most of the choreography during concerts comes from them. The part where they are down on the ground and need help to get up comes from the music video. Tells the tale of getting beat and struggling. to get up and help a friend which in turn helps you to move forward and carry on. In the music video the enemy they fight using karate is themselves. Sometimes the hardest opponent you'll face in life. A strong positive message that they have become known for as well. Babymetal everything you want in music and somethings you didn't know you needed.
Welcome back & Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Yeah! You are right. This is "theater". BABYMETAL show is a kind of "Opera". Songwriting, choreography, stage setup and rendering, instrumental playing are created by experts, and then Su and Moa come in. Everything is prepared for the prima donnas who are solely able to breathe life of artistry into the prepared production. On Jan. 19, 2021, I watched the Karate performance with tears on Day-1 of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan Concerts at the venue. Especially, when Su hit the high note flawlessly at the end with her matured rich voice, everything was soothed. Fans knew Team BABYMETAL had gone through hard time in 2020, the preceding year, that was supposed to be a glorious time to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
Of course we are glad we are back, but also especially because it's Babymetal. Thanks for this. 3:45 sadly it's just one girl, their used to be two singing. One left because of health reasons. The extra, 'third girl' on stage only does dancing to restore the choreography. 8:19 when you are knocked down, you help up your friends, etc. and keep going, pushing forward. Positive thoughts/ideas is Babymetal's MO. They actually recently released a song called: Divine Attack, so maybe you are on the right track ;-) Also let's hear it for the sound engineers, you have to be able to both have the high and lows sounds great and in balance.
Great analysis! I am interested in the way she sings with her back slightly rounded. It's a trait she's had since she was a little girl. How does this affect her vocalization? Also, many people like the way she sings without much vibrato. What are your thoughts from that perspective?
⚡ 💀 💕 / 👻 👻 👻 There's a good reason this was the featured single from the second album, 'Metal Resistance'. They made a lot of friends among other groups by playing a bunch of metal festivals, and this song converted quite a few. Both the heavy riffs, and the choreography. : ) Like a lot of BABYMETAL songs, this one has a positive message about facing life's challenges. That stellar drummer was Hideki Aoyama. BOH was on bass, and Takayoshi Ohmura and ISAO were on guitars.
8:37 I love finally other people realize that. Theatrical aspect is one of main thing happen in their concerts. So people not just watch them singing, but also watch they were doing theater. They are whole package of lots of aspect when did a concerts. Like "Road of Resistance" they was just crowd controling. Or maybe Headbanger when Moa also sings, they were with viewers bowing down. I mean sometimes the viewers themself being part of their performance, rather than just watching them. Just amazing! 🦊
Su-metal is the main singer but I would also recommend listening to headbanger moa-metal version live. It was for Moa's 20th birthday and she sings a part that Su normally does so you can really hear her voice. Su has a super strong and stable voice but Moa, when she isn't doing the kind of character voice you were describing, has a really good tone (I only ever played instruments instead of singing so not sure how to put it in the technical terms you were using lol)
Enjoyed your reaction. You should react to the same song but a 2016 performance to compare. Karate Download Festival 2016 version, on an outdoor stage in the rain. A great performance. BABYMETAL FOREVER 🤘🤘🤘 All hail The Fox God
They started when they about 6yo with professional training in vocals and dance. Of course when you are scary talented it is much easier to be this good when you are in your 20's!! The third is the Avenger Momoko who at this point was the only one left. The Avengers were 3 very talented young ladies to be the third on stage in Yui's place. You have to see the studio MV of Karate to understand the story line. If you haven't, react to Nemophila, Mayu, singer has a great wide ranging voice. From growls to beautiful melodies.
Havent seen all your babymetal videos yet idt but if you havent seen it yet, im really curious about your thoughts on the "moametal version" of headbangeeerrrrr!!!!!! cuz moa gets a solo part. Id love to hear you explain the physiological/mechanical aspects of vocals of her performance there 💖
So whilst the live shows are always much better imo than the video. In this case you should actually watch the production video for this song it will give you a better context as to their movements and choreography on stage.
can you react band hanabie - we love sweet also band from japan and all girl or more babymetal - from dusk till dawn, i want explain what she doing with her voice
Checked your channel; also react to Band Maid "Freedom". They have total control of their music and will be touring Europe next year as they have since 2017!!
A good way to compare Su's and Moa's voice is a Version of Headbanger. Both get their parts in it. Here is the link if you want to react: th-cam.com/video/MToMx6RCW-M/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=K.S.%28%E5%90%9B%E5%A5%BD%E3%81%8D%29
Okay, I'm a purist. This is a BABYMETAL(AY) performance (after Yui). Not to take away from this performance but this is a song that should include Yuimetal ( th-cam.com/video/GvD3CHA48pA/w-d-xo.html ).
Welcome back sir, great to see another Babymetal reaction;)

There is an emotion that can only be experienced through SU-METAL's voice.
Her voice is insane

Good reaction/analysis, thanks!
Yep they know exactly how to put on a great show.
Until next time!

Thanks for your professional explanation. I was able to learn a lot.
