    • @jasonito23
      @jasonito23 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deejay5102 - Hip Hop always changes. You can't draw a line. Some would draw the line at 88 when NWA dropped along with Koo G Rap in 89 etc. when gangsta rap and explicit lyrics became normalized. Others would draw the line with Twista/BTNH among others who were fast rapping and doing a whole bunch of studio stuff. Some hated the horrorcore and Das EFX sewer shit. Other than OutKast and a song here and there I personally can't stand alot of Southern hip hop. I'm 44 now, I can't tell the young folks what they should be listening to. In the 90s when I was listening to hip hop, my older cousins who grew up listening to 80s rap weren't feeling it. I remember I was listening to EPMDs second album - So Whatcha Saying and my older cousin said that they sounded tired - lol. EPMD is strictly Hip Hop. Other genres certainly do change. Country has autotune and the Alternative Rock scene definitely doesn't resemble what it was when Nirvana was in the game.

      Correct...The Golden Era starts @ about '86, '87 and ended just before what people considered "the 2nd coming" (of '88), which was '96....

      @@Castopolistic100 ok. This type of stuff I like. Run DMC comes out of the beat machine era of hip hop. I was in 7th grade when Rock Box came out. Their contemporaries were Kurtis Blow, Fat Boys and Whodini, T LaRock.... this was the 2and wave of of "commercialized" hip hop. By '83, Hip hop had just come our of the first wave of it's commercial sound where the emcees were rhyming over disco tracks. The Golden Era is more need by the change in lyrical content, lyrical style, and most importantly the production of the sound of the music.
      Run DMC comes out of the era of "a yes yes yall, to the beat yall". That ain't the Golden era. Additionally, sampling made the golden era. Producers no longer used the beat machine after 1985. Around '86 production started changing to James Brown and classic break beats. Yes, Run DMC were still making hits throughout the golden era but they ain't the face of that era.

      @seanwright8786 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Castopolistic100 sorry for the typos. Run DMC did not usher that era in. 1986 saw the major smash hit of Eric B for President and The Bridge by MC Shan. Marley Marl had a lot to do with the former and everything to do with the latter. That is the beginning of the golden era, my friend.
