Hey, I just wanted to correct something that I wasn't clear on at the time of the interview -
[33:04] While I did wind up having these conversations, I am not at all 100% certian of the validity of that situation, as it had been over a decade since it happened and since recently I had been made aware of information that confirms the identity of this girl's existence dating beyond 2009. There is a very real chance this happened, and I am not comfortable making a definative statement either way, reguardless I denounce the behaviour outright and have already left the project, for the sake of morality, I hope it didn't happen, if it did, I hope the girl is okay - and I'm sorry for casting doubt from my findings, I wished I had learned of these things sooner since it had been over 3 years since I had even looked into it.

It doesn’t matter if the victim thinks she is one or not, children do not understand what is being done to them. Hence why they are minors and can not consent. They do not understand their situation and aren’t developed enough to know it’s wrong. Joking or not, a nearly 40 year old man should never have sexually charged conversations with a child.

Idk who decided 18 is some magic number anyways, age of consent is lower than 18 in a lot of states. Where I am in Canada it's 16 but most people still see that as way too young, but 18 as a full adult. The older I get the weird it is. I was in my last year of highschool at 18.

The thing thats weird is that everyone is totally ignoring the several grooming allegations (with proof) that have been made against him in the past. This girl is not actually the worst case. There's a very researched deep dive called "Yandere Simulator's Open Secret" that came out a month ago, going into the _several_ allegations in the past thata re totally seperate from this. Im genuinely shocked people are acting like this is the first time hes been inappropriate with minors.
That's why the voice actors are getting backlash for suddenly acting like yanderedev being a predator was some big damn secret. You could see it from a mile away.

Keep in mind that unless he’s on the top of your TH-camr list and the algorithm is in your favor, most people aren’t really going to find out about the allegations unless you’re actively searching for them. Yandev has been off my radar for _years_ since I’ve given up on the game coming out so I didn’t hear anything about him until big TH-camrs brought it up to the forefront.
In many ways, the algorithm was on Yandev’s side until now.

Hi Tom! Just as a bit of an update, Jane has put out a more recent statement via Decepticommie, the TikToker whose video you featured at 3:53. Jane states that she was secretly supportive of the video being posted, however because of the threats of legal action and coercion from Alex he had basically manipulated her into publicly defending him, including the Reddit post and writing his first "apology" blog post for him, and diminishing the abuse she endured. I can also confirm she did not file the copyright strike herself, that was yet another thing she had to go along with out of fear and say publicly that she did it herself even though that was not the truth.
Fortunately Jane has now cut ties with Alex, she acknowledges that this was indeed grooming behavior from him especially based on other things that have yet to be made public, and those of us advocating for her behind-the-scenes are doing our best to support her as much as we can to help resolve this so she can get back to a normal life.

He’ll never give up control of the game. In the past Tiny Build wanted to work with him and provided a dev to help him out and he basically blew that up almost immediately. He can’t accept not having full control of the development.
I heard there was actually a coder from Tiny Build (I suppose) that looked at the code of his game and it was a catastrophy, so the coder rewrote a lot of it to make it right, but Alex wasn't okay with someone rewriting his shitty code, so he got mad and canceled the partnership.

Ill never forget the feeling of my stomach dropping back in 2017 or 18 when my at the time 8/9 year old niece told me her favorite game was yandere simulator and how she needed to secure her senpai.
I was honestly shocked because i very well knew she didnt quite understand the content of the game yet felt so strongly about it and no supervision from her parents. I knew i was the only one in the family to even know what the game was...but also knew my brother and his ex-wife did not care.

Followed his "development" since prior to going into the navy. He needs to just stop and just sell it. He's been the best example of what not to do in programming. I don't even think he can sell it at this point. He had the opportunity with Tinybuild, and messed it up. I don't even think people would need to buy "his" idea. Just remake the whole thing (in a better less creepy way), with original character design, have it take place in a university instead of a high school, add accurate clothing for the environment and real Japanese names, and you're good. What is he going to do about it? Claim he invented the idea? That would be like if the creators behind Minecraft claim people can't make a game with mining and crafting mechanics.

I refuse to believe that the composer dude is "shocked". Alex had made whole rants about his views on the age of consent in the past. How can he be shocked that his friend who happens to believe age of consent is stupid was caught messaging with under-aged girls.

I think Ally posting it and keeping Jane anonymous is fair especially since Jane let Ally know that Alex was pressing her to lie for him. It's common for victims to think they are NOT victims. Especially when it's a child. Ally did the right thing. I understand her & anyone questioning if it was the right thing to do. However, this info could possibly save someone from something so much more horrific happening at the hands of Alex. Also, there are likely other young girls that think they are NOT victims but now they may be able to recognize that his interactions with them were wrong. Plus, this may encourage other victims to speak out that were afraid to come out before.
Can 16y/o's be sexually aggressive?.... Yes.
Can the adult feel flattered, special, desirable?.... Yes.
Also the young person may be intelligent, have interesting hobbies, be funny, be physically attractive & actually looking like an adult. However, the adult needs to explain why it's inappropriate and end the conversation or friendship or whatever relationship if the younger person won't respect the boundaries set out by the adult.

It’s interesting that the alleged victim is denying the claims and doesn’t agree with the upload. It makes for an interesting discussion on the culture of exposing predators and the effect it can have on the victim. Regardless of the victims sentiment, I personally think a predator should be exposed so more people aren’t victimized. She may not feel like a victim, but who’s to say someone else wont? Wild situation.
The victim has since retracted her statement and supports the upload. I wouldn't be surprised if she only disagreed with the initial upload because Alex accused her of being "emotionally abusive" by wondering if she should come out about it.

I genuinely do not understand how after 10 years non-stop work that the game isn't done. How?
Because it wasn't non stop, people caught him streaming for hours upon hours.

Also his code is baaaaaaad, like beginner level baaaaad, it's unoptimised, it's spaghetti.
The code is so bad it can't consistently run at 60fps because it's so wonky and weird and when a competent developer fixed it up he complained he couldn't read it.
The game is (or was idk if he finally learned) notorious for having so many else if statements, like plagued with them.
His two previous games while under the alias of evaxephon got laughed at by Skull Girls creator Mike Z and 4 chan. He doesn't know what he is doing
YanDev made $3k a month at his peak, and still was making a decent living before this came. He drew out the Patreon money for as long as he could and still would be if not for this fallout.
He also continues to add more and more content to the game, and it’s expanded far beyond its original scope.
Feature creep, is the short of it. He's legitimately pretty fucking good at whipping out small games in quick order. Like that Undertale paradoy, or the easter eggs and minigames. But his organizational skills are a fucking travesty. The game keeps getting more and more and more bloated. It's like if you were to write a book, but never put down the pen.
Why? Because YandereDev knew that they should include 10 unique rivals, but after 20 pages they realized they had no clue how to write them.

If anyone really cares, the victim of yesterday has admitted that they were intimidated by threats of a lawsuit and manipulated by Alex into retreating their statement and flagging the video themselves. There’s even evidence that the victim helped Alex write all of his responses to the allegations.

This is not the first time YandereDev talked to/talked about minors inappropriately. There are even fanfics he made where he talked about fictional 14yo being "well developed" and talked about the child's body sexually. And a fictional underaged virgin that wanted to lose her "maidhood" to the main character in this fanfic (that was probably supposed to be his alter ego or something). The fanfic had really weird sex scenes and really bad written women.
Also there is this strange post where Alex is talking about how he hates his parents and how he wants to kill them and other posts where he express himself like an incel (basically the "women don't want to date me, so there's problem in women not me" mindset).
Plus the game itself is really grooming. Where high schoolers that are allegedly 18 are being killed, tortured and having their underwear seen and photographed.
Fictional is still fictional. The drawing/character has no emotions and thus cannot be traumatized and cannot be criminalized, because no one was hurt.
Of course, it is still very suspicious, especially if the author/artist makes sure to point out the age. A close eye should be kept on the person, to ensure they don't... take the next step.
Point is, you CAN'T criminalize someone for wanking toa drawing, unless the drawing is explicitly depicting a minor that is real. A characature of a real minor.

From my understanding, most of Yandev's previous allegations were very embarrassing, but relatively harmless stuff in comparison to this recent allegation.
It seems like Cameron went well out of his way to do his research about Yandev to morally justify himself, even seeking out the source of an allegation from years prior.
He says that what Yandev did was bad and inexcusable, so I don't even feel he particularly downplayed it.
I think if anything, he's particularly deserving of empathy due to how much the circumstance screws him over, and how shocking the news is.

I love how UNFEELING I am to his entire apology. I'm an empath and even the worst of people can make me cry when they show even a bit of remorse, because that's just how my heart works. All the posturing of his regret, the "Woe is me, I'm such a bad person, I'm so pathetic" is just a show to garner affirmation because it's what he thinks he is "supposed" to do. He doesn't think he did anything wrong, but he knows everyone else thinks he did, so he's putting on a show of sorrow. Don't fall for it. He will only ever be truly sorry when he's faced real punishment in a jail cell with time to sit and stew with what he did.
I honestly don't hate him, and I don't wish harm upon him like some do. I believe he's mentally ill and needs help. I also believe that everyone can change for the better, no matter their actions (even predators). But in cases like his, he won't change unless forced to change. And it's not because he doesn't want to, it's because he can't. What he wants is affirmation, to be told that it's okay, that he isn't a bad person, that his actions weren't that bad, that his apology was enough or that he is somehow justified because of the loneliness he's gone through.
He does deserve some sympathy, but sympathy and affirmation are not the same thing. Sympathy is telling him he did a shitty thing and placing him in prison so he can't hurt himself or anyone else, but also reminding him that his life isn't over because of this. He can still move forward and become a better person and even be happy eventually but the first step for him is to own up to the awful thing he did and face his punishment, starting by turning himself in no matter how terrifying it may seem.
I truly hope he finds the help he needs, speaks with a therapist in prison and stops lying to himself to justify his actions.
