Hey Andrew, I was wondering if you have done any cook comparisons between the XXL Pro and the WW Pro? More specifically, which one creates that more authentic texture/bark on that brisket or Boston butt? I have owned a couples of Masterbuilt electric models and have been pleased for the most part with the smoke infusion they produce but disappointed by that authentic bark (or lack of) production. I am looking to step up my smoking game and have always wanted to try a pellet grill/smoker but have heard like others that the smoke infusion just wasn’t there until now with the introduction of smoke boxes on the WW Pro series. I don’t really need another grill as I already have a Napolean Prestige Phantom and also have a Camp Chef flat top 36. In your opinion, can you create authentic BBQ with the XXL Pro or is the WW Pro gonna be better suited at doing this?
Great comparison. I ultimately went with the WW Pro36 even though I have a Weber propane grill. The versatility to grill and add smoke flavor is going to be awesome. I'll be doing my huli huli chicken for the first time on it tomorrow. The weber will still be my go to for my rare steaks but I'll be experimenting with the WW all summer as well. It's going to be fun.
Just got my XXL pro, love it... I have the same issue with smoke leaking, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem once the smoker comes to Temp... Big thing is no issue with cooks drying out on the bottom from being too close to the fire pot.
I would love to hear more about your experience and thoughts with the XXL Pro. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of reviews on this smoker. Thanks. Great Videos always like your videos.
Just got an XXL PRO for $450 brand new. Love your videos and you were part of the reason i just pulled the trigger today. Already have a nice Weber gas grill so just wanted something to stop the pain of fiddling with a gas grill smoke box and i think this will be the ticket.
@@AndersonsSmokeShow dick’s sporting goods is doing a flash sale this weekend. $450 but you also have to pay $150 for shipping so really it’s $600. But i got someone to price match to avoid the shipping cost. Should have it in about ten days or so.
Hey Andrew, quick question if you only had enough money to buy one grill, would it be a Masterbuilt, gravity series, camp, chef, Woodwin, pro with the sidekick, or a Traeger pellet grill? I have a Masterbuilt gravity 560 but I don’t know if it was put together wrong or what it drips grease all over the place and anytime I crank it up over 300 to try to grill with it it overheats and catches on fire even though everything is clean so I’m really wanting to go with maybe a pellet grill but I don’t want to lose that smoke flavor. Any suggestions?
Bought a Camp Chef DLX24 several years ago and love it, then I added a full FTG 600 griddle to the deck and that thing is incredible. I definitely have the XXL Pro on my list when its time to upgrade. If you have the budget for the WW Pro 36 and the space to accommodate, take a look at the combo of the XXL Pro and a full size griddle. A sidekick is nice, but of you are doing reverse sear steaks for a few people or food for several people in general, it will get over capacity real quick.
hi mate, enjoy your videos! Keep it up. Was wondering if you have any more updates/thoughts about the XXLPro? You must have had lots of cooks on it by now.
It’s been great! I personally prefer the Woodwind Pro just due to size and sidekick compatibility, but this thing smokes meat like no other pellet smoker!
Received my Xxl Pro today. Did the burn off and some paint on the outside started bubbling and the hopper fell off the screws/screw nuts that hold it on, even though they are tight. Just Slid off the screw nuts. Only thing holding it on were the two tiny screws next to the burn pot.
Did you put it together yourself? It seems very unlikely that the hopper would just fall off. And I haven't had any issues with the paint either. What temp did you do the burn off at?
As always great video… love my woodwind pro. Only complaint I have is if the wood in the smoke box catches fire and you go to blow it out my paint on the door has started to melt off. Definitely happy with this smoker otherwise.
From my experience, just leave it burning and push it back in. I think that once its back in pace, the airflow is reduced and the flame will back off and smolder more
@@prkyle17 I have not checked the temp difference in either side. All I know is that it gives me amazing bbq. I do miss my offset but with 3 kids 3 and under this let’s me still do what I love!
I've been eyeing both of these smokers for some time now and am close to purchasing. I'm prioritizing smoking more (but not totally) than grilling. Would you still say the XXL has a better smoke flavor than the WWP, now that you've had months of use? I'm also slightly concerned about the single wall cabinet of the XXL. Coming from a Masterbuilt electric, so I'm sure I'll see a noticeable improvement in smoke flavor.
Question: Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 36 with Sidekick attachments or Camp Chef XXL Pro & Camp Chef Flat Top 600 with Sidekick attachments? If price wasn’t an issue of course.
Oh man that’s a tough question…… I really want one of those FTG600’s which makes this even harder. I guess it depends. If you were going to use the griddle a lot then I think the combo with the FTG might be best. But if you’re just going to use the griddle to sear steaks and what not, then WWPro
This is just the video I was looking for! I've been using a vertical propane smoker for the last few years but I've been looking to upgrade. I already have a propane grill and I dont really see the need to get the WW Pro, but I am worried about the lack of gasket on the xxl. Has it been easy to install the gasket to keep the amount of leakage down? And have you experienced any trouble with it on windy days?
I’ve messed around with 2 gaskets and haven’t had the success that I’d like…. But I’ve come to the conclusion that it really doesn’t need one, or at least I haven’t seen an issue without it. It may seem like “oh it’s losing precious smoke”, but the reality is with that smoke box you can easily over smoke your food… so I don’t think that it’s nearly as big of an issue as I thought it was.
My concern is that a large brisket might not fit in the XXL Pro. Have you seen that as an issue? One time I ordered from SRF and I got a huge 20 pounder. It barely fit in my CC SG.
I haven’t run into that yet, but it definitely was a concern of mine too. I also think that even though this is bigger than my WWPro 36 in terms of cooking surface, I think I could cook more brisket and pork shoulders on my WWPro
Thanks for the reply. While I would love the 36, not sure I can afford it. So the 24 is my comparison. It’s rare I need to cook a lot of food as it’s just me and my wife mostly. Every now and then we have a big party but did the pulled pork a day ahead and then 4 ribs in my SG. But the fact that the XXL is cheaper and bigger makes me consider it strongly.
The initial run was at Bass Pro Shops. If you have one nearby it may be worth giving them a call because from what I heard they weren’t stocking them online. Now in the somewhat near future Camp Chef will have them available on their site for purchase… but that could still be a month or two away
He's definitely wrong about the wwpro holding more brisket than the xxlpro. The xxlpro holds way more actually soo much more. Idk how he messed that one up
I have both. I know both. I can do basic math. I’m also a logical person that can see that you’d have to remove every other rack in the XXL Pro in order to stuff it full of briskets. Then looking at the WWPro you have 2 larger cooking surfaces with a total cooking surface area being slightly larger, you could most definitely get more briskets on the WWPro 36. Even if the square inches were exactly the same, you’re not restricted by the dimensions of the grates nearly as much on the WWPro as the XXL Pro therefore you’d be able to utilize the most surface area.
I tried the products you said to try on cleaning my grill "masterbuilt" and nothing wanna work from the very 1st use, Am not sure why, also from winter to now we just got it out it has rust where the smoke comes out to cook the food, any tips 😢😢

$1800 for the 36” and side sear table. Yikes! I’ve got a Pit Boss cabinet pellet smoker and use a Weber charcoal grill to sear/grill. Even with the nicer performer Deluxe charcoal grill I’m under $1000 for both and tons of versatility, a table, a lower storage shelf, 60lb hopper on the smoker.
You can’t put them between two consecutive racks, which means the most racks you’d be able to use is 4. That would result in 1204sq in. The WWPro 36 has 1236sq in. You really messed up your math….. plus if we look at the limits created by the actual rack dimensions, I’d bet that you’d get an extra brisket or two on the woodwind pro.
I haven’t, but I’ve heard good things. I guess I’ll have to look into getting one. Just remember that those are anywhere from 2x-5x the cost of 90% of the pellet grill market. That’s like saying a Ferrari is a better sports car than a mustang
