I have used everything on the market to clean my collection of copper pots and pans and various other items. I stop this video and got out my Homer bucket put to gallons of vinegar into the bucket with a box of salt. Placed my Cooper pot into the mixture and it was clean in minutes. I have spent so much time cleaning my Cooper stuff this gets my number 1 top video on utube!!!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
It worked, like right away. Cool deal. I've been struggling lol. I have this bracelet and it's pure copper. I always wear it. It has its properties and protections and it's just been looking very tarnished. NOW ITS SHINING. YAAAAY. 😎
Thank you! Was about to tumble a bunch of tarnished tiny copper findings and was so not looking forward to fishing out 2mm beads from the tumbling shot! Your video saved the day and a giant headache!
I tried so many methods! This one worked within seconds!! Wow 😢 Im amazed. I couldnt wear my favorite pieces, which were tarnished/oxedized copper cus it kept giving me a rash. Now I can wear it all again!
We were putting together my daughters bassinet from when she was a baby for her baby and the brass was tarnished from sitting in basements and stuff for 27 years we tried this and most almost instantly turned bright and shiney and the rest we used just a little elbow grease and it looks like new.
@@Awareness_With_Dennis It all depends on the crystals. If they are somehow treated, such as dyed, etc., I cannot guarantee that they won't be harmed so I don't want to say, "sure, go ahead" so you may want to do more research on this first! (if it were me, I would probably try it, but would not keep it in the solution for very long and would rinse well afterwards.)
Works great for cleaning up scrap copper too. I filled a tote with salt and vinegar andbput copper tubing scraps in it. Considering theybpay $1/lb less forbtarnished copper it is worth while.
You are very welcome, thanks for watching. It it is an antique, I would not clean it until you check with an antique specialist as cleaning may lower the value. Otherwise, you can create a paste with this recipe by adding a bit of flour and mixing it to a toothpaste-like or thinner consistency. Good luck!
I wonder if this would work on VERTIGRIS on antique jewelry. I have a gorgeous antique green crystal 4-strand necklace (believe the crystals might contain lead). Each crystal openback and bezel and prong set. The setting is brass (with goldtone wash). However, there is vertigris on ALL THE PRONGS holding in over 400 stones. To deal with this manually would be maddening! I wonder if there's an easier way. Also wondering if the vinegar would remove the rest of the goldtone wash that remains... TIA.
My newest book, The Broken China Jewelry Book, will be available on Amazon in late July/early August! Be sure to get your copy! tinyurl.com/4ffrm4ys
Thank you. 2 ingredients and no scrubbing

Thank you for letting us know how to clean our copper. Very helpful ❤😊
By far cleaned by brass rings and bracelets so darn good! Thank you
Glad it worked well for you!

Thank you so much you didn't make me sit through twenty five minutes of some guy talking about himself right to the point thank you😊
😆
I know what guy you're talking about...after a few minutes I left and found this one! Much much better!
🤣🤣🤣
Amazing thank you for sharing this. Great video.
Thanks for watching!

Worked in under 5 seconds for me 🥰 Thank you so much!
So simple, I’ve been using steel wool, so much less mess and quick !!
doing some of my copper now. I am so happy this video found me. Thankyou for sharing it.
this is a beautiful piece you’ve made.
What no way!cim going to do this rn. Thank you! I'll let you know my results. 😎

Wow!! Just like you said.... So easy and fast... thank you!
In a strange twist, salt and vinegar are two ingredients used to force patina/oxidize copper...
Ha ha yes
So something that makes it dark is the same thing that brightens it. How does that work?
Lemon 🍋 juice and salt will work too
Thank you! This is so helpful ❤
Thanks so much! Amazing! I'm going to use it on some earrings and a copper awning.
This worked immediately! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you! Will this work on any metal that is tarnished?
This is specific to copper, but I will do another video soon for silver.
does it have to be white vinegar?
Not sure, I haven't tried others.
What does the salt do in this reaction?
It dissolves the copper oxide
Hi. Thanks for the video, very useful info. Can it work on silve tarnish?
That will be a different video because that is a different recipe, this is for copper
Will regular salt work?
Hi! I love this informative video, can this be used to clean rose gold jewelry?
I've never tried it!
Thank you!!
very well explained and to the point, thank you for the share!
i have some jewely that have crystals in the wire wrap...will it be okay to submerge the whole piece in there like you did with the crystal in it?

This worked great. Is there something I can put on the copper to keep it from tarnishing? Thanks
not really, you just have to polish it or use this process.
Yes, clear enamel spray, or clear nail polish.
Great, thanks!
Thank you so much ❤️
Does this trick work with brass signet rings too?
Doubtful, its for copper
Will it work on silver as well?
No its for copper
I know about the salt and vinegar but how do you keep then from oxidizing and getting tarnished?
Try storing pieces in a plastic bag when not wearing them.
That’s is really good 👍
Will this hurt beads and gemstones--for instance, a beaded bracelet?
Check out my latest Q&A video where I talk about this extensively! th-cam.com/video/9E1w7WtoPgM/w-d-xo.html

Wow! Why haven’t I heard of this before? Is this safe for gems?
I think it would depend on the hardness and composition of the gems. You would have to research that.
Thank you so much Madam🍷✨❤
Laura WOW!!! I LOVE YOU!! YOU!!!!! YOU!!!! YOU!!!
Is there a way to prevent tarnish?
Keep away from water and humidity. Unfortunately it will always tarnish so you have to just polish occasionally
Hi..should it be rinsed with water after the treatment?
Wash with dish soap and water, then rinse well with water and dry with a soft cloth.
Love it - beautiful work! How well does the piece take to soldering? I have some glass with tarnished copper foil I'd like to solder.
You would have to remove the tarnish first!
How often do you clean your copper jewelry?
When it begins to tarnish
Thank you will do
Thank you very much !!
Thank you for this recipe. Do you have an idea to clean a full size brass bed. It is more than a hundred years old.

Soak rags in salt-vinegar solution and drape over bed railing. You will notice the change in color. Removal of stains
it also worked on my silver tea sets...thank you so much

I would be hesitant to use this on antique jewelry
Amazing! Thanks!!?
how to neutralize the acid of the vinegar after? Baking soda?
You can just rinse it in water
Salt and vinegar. Old timers method, works very well.
But when you want to sell jewelry by the time it gets to the customer is going to be tarnish again, how can i prevent that?
Store in an air-tight (zipper top) bag.
Yes store in a plastic bag
SA--WEET! 👍
Thanks had a copper mug I was specifically told not to leave water over night in but did 😅. Worked perfectly ❤
Thank you! Off to snitch hubby's torch. PS 0.4 mm wire is 26 guage, and 1mm wire is 18 guage, for those of us in Canada/USA
Would apple vinegar work or does it have to be white?
I don't know, you would have to try it out and let us know, but I'm guessing yes
why put in the clean ones?
Not sure what you mean?
🙏🙏
Vinegar & salt. That's why ketchup works! (But it's way cheaper than ketchup!)
and a lot less sugar
If you have fake jewelry or cz this only made the tarnish turn bright pink 💔
It is probably not copper then!
"No chemicals " .... Really ! ...Everything is chemistry, including Vinegar ( Acetic Acid ) and Salt ( Sodium Chloride)
Thank you for saying this! I’ve been sitting here biting my tongue. :)
I have some copper wrapped crystals, would this work for these as opposed to dipping them in Tarnx?
I do not know, you would have to try it out. This process is safer and less corrosive than tarnex.
Thank you so much ❤
