When I lived in Trinidad decades ago, there was a significant Indian community there. Is it still present? Every Indian person I’ve met in my life since has shown me not only acceptance and kindness but a wonderful perspective of life. I am grateful. I still wear the silver bangles I bought there for $3; the engravings are very worn and occasionally my clumsiness causes the metal to bruise my old, thin skin. But I will continue to wear them in honor of so many lessons I learned there from patient and smiling Indians with their many wonderful shades and colors.🖖🏻
I had the opportunity to live in Rookee which is in the state of Uttar Pradesh for 3 long years when my husband was doing his PhD at the University of Rookee. I will tell you this, you don't go to India for holidays, you go for experience. I have learned so many things there that we in the Western world take for granted. I love the food, the warm hospitality of the people but most importantly the experience of being there physically is out of this world. Plan on visiting sometime soon again.
I wish I could live like them, so humble, hardworking, clean living people.
