The 5208 while it is in the Ultra high class of NVRs. The 4208 is a better line that it offers AI and offers AI at the NVR just not using the AI cameras.. Something that so many people seem to fail to understand about the 42xx lines. Now the newer 42xx 3AI line isnt' as good as the older line of 4208-AI or the like, 4208E-AI, 4216E-AI they are Ultra line AI NVRs.. With many options the 52xx lines don't offer unless you buy the 5216-16P for just under 1500 last I knew in COVID times.. That is only 52xx line I know that had AI. Now there might be some new 3AI line I don't know about yet but any of the normal 52xx line my 5232-16P is just a 2 HDD case line like the 42xx AI line is... The other AI again besides the real 42xx AI line would be the lower 41xx-A2 line that will do 4k cameras or less in AI as long as the Cameras are AI. Like my 4108-A2 has 8 cameras that are AI.. Where the 4216E-AI NVR that I also own shines is that it offers 2HDD slots, and has 4 built in AI channels that I can and have 4 non AI cameras connected like the 841, 941, and 1051 indoor mini PTZ cameras I have setup with Intrusion or Tripwires that using the NVR will detect human or vehicles and I think the 4208E-AI NVR has 2 that is build into the NVR that don't even need AI cameras to use the Tripwire or Intrusion with Human or Vehicle detection. I could be wrong and the 4208 might offer 4 as well but I think it only offers 2.. Then all other channels need to be AI if you wanted full AI options on your NVR... In the case of the 4108-A2 line all channels have to have AI cameras for AI to work. Don't get me wrong you could have 2 AI cameras I just mean there is no built into the NVR itself.. I have another brand AI NVR that says it offers in The NVR AI but it don't even work. Needs to have AI cameras for AI to work.. That NVR cost more then my Amcrest NVRs and isn't even very easy to use lol.. Need to have a Degree to understand how to use the other brand NVR.. Have it on my Videos only bought that NVR because of a business I had that needed Mask detection and warning that to enter Mask was required.. I wasn't gong to pay 8k for the Amcrest option in the COVID time so opt for Different brand because it offered Mask Detection and rejection...

Are there any NVRs with a better UI that fully utilize Amcrest camera abilities? I have 3 Amcrst AI cameras and have Amcrsts NVR; the NVR is still rubbish. All the talking pointes you called out with your model still persist. It feels like this company has become complacent. Id like to find another NVR that has better software but needs to be able to have 1:1 compatibility with Amcrest cameras (or at least very close to 1:1)
Just confused about Amcrest premium cloud subscription. If I have their NVR, do I still need to subscribe to their premium cloud to remoteview recordings stored in the nvr?

No don't need Cloud at all even using the cameras just uses a Micro SD card..
