  • When picking flowers, it depends on where you'll sell them. If you're making bunches for a grocery store, the team helps by removing some leaves to make it faster.
If I’m alone and it's hot, I might quickly grab a bunch of flowers, put them in a bucket, and cut them. I knew a grower who did this. His florists understood that they had to remove the leaves themselves. It worked because he told them what to do.
When I'm in the studio alone and need flowers quickly, I might do the same and then make bouquets or fill orders without removing the leaves right away. Removing leaves in the field takes time, and if you have a lot to do, it might slow you down.
But when a team is making grocery store bouquets, it slows them down if the flowers aren't ready with the leaves removed. It's not great to put leaves in clean water, but if you're using the flowers right away, it's okay.
You have to decide based on the weather and how much work there is. But remember, if your team has to remove leaves later, it will slow them down. So, just wanted to share that.
