There are no adjectives big enough to show the love I have for James Taylor.True music royalty. True humanitarian. I am 67 and grew up and grew old with JTs music.I FINALLY got to see him in concert about 4 yrs ago in Providence. As soon as James appeared on stage, I started crying tears of joy, tears of respect, and had a sense that I was about to witness the greatness of one of my childhood idols. Believe me he did not disappoint!! After the show I truly felt my life was more complete.I had just witnessed one of the greatest and beloved singers/songwriters known to man. This is not an exaggeration!! His voice was as sweet as it was back in the 60s. His music, his wit,and his mere presence made that night so very special. Thank you James Taylor for a lifetime of music, memories and life lessons.I love you man!!!
Negative people stay away, this is to honor those who have shared their gifts with us,who have touched our hearts and souls, don't dim their will deserved spot light, and Merry Christmas to you, hope you find some well needed joy!
When Garth's voice cracks during "Shower the People", that is the essence of deep appreciation and true love. Fantastic performance by each artist, including the gospel choir, all the way around. Love ya, JT!!!!!
Why do people come here to post negative comments? If you don't like the artist, why watch? I've always loved you, James! You've given the world some beautiful music!
I would really love to know an answer to that question. If anyone owns a remote, there’s a button you can push to turn power off. Use it. That would spare the rest of us music appreciators from having to read your whining negativity.

... I have never heard one person say anything negative about JT... that in itself is a miracle.! Since the minute I heard Sweet Baby James in 1970 .. I was in love... thank you James, for some of the best songs ever written... I am forever a devoted disciple...xo
He has been my husband or future husband since 1968 when I was 16. Has remained that way as he comforted me through the death of a child, then the death of my husband of 48 years over the last three years. I will always treasure what he has brought to my life with the exception of someone impersonating him over the last three years being set up by someone I actually had met through one of his official sites who originated a scam that got out of control. In no way do I blame him. He is still my future husband. Sorry Caroline. An old lady can dream of retiring with him. He will always be my James and his music the background of my life.
Thanks so much for sharing this! James is my favorite musical artist of all time. And the Kennedy Center Honors is my favorite show. Was born 9 months after James and his music has been with me, along with the rest of us, all these years. Sweet Baby James was the first album I ever bought, right when it came out. $3.33. :) Subscribed to your channel. Thanks again!

I've always loved his music and enjoyed coming of age playing his love songs. He grew up in my home state of North Carolina and I was always proud of being a neighbor. What a soulful man with a soulful voice. Everyone loves J.T.❤❤❤
About Time! Wow well deserved recognition for this Mensch of a Man and Soul...James Taylor, for the Swifties out there, she was also named after him, yup Taylor Swift.🥰🥰
Has been my future husband since I was 16 in 1968. Continues to be referred to that to this day even throughout my marriage of 48 years. He and his music in many ways have been the story of my life. It's time to retire but I can't imagine not having him or his music in my life. Thank you James.
Bill Clinton was always a good speaker. Bill still looks handsome. Glad he spoke in tribute to James Taylor. Always liked Bill Clinton, voted for him for President when he ran in that race. Thought he was a good U.S A. President. ❤😊

please give us the option to turn off the caption - it's annoying and doesn't accurately reflect what the singer is singing. If a hearing impaired person is watching it will just make them think the singer is messing up the lyrics - they would be better served by lip reading or someone signing the lyrics. It ruins an otherwise really nice performance.
Did nt find Garth's performance very good at all, sorry and Darius blah, just nothing exceptional just sang it like james did , only sheryl did him justice IMO of course, not enough accolades for James's writing either. For some reason the boring Darius showed up at the end? as did Garth A bit. SO ODD ! were they nervous ? Lack lustre until the end. He was worthy of so much more. Clips and guest singers who put us to sleep. But again this was 2016.
I'm sorry but what an embarrassing bafrfest these guest performers and speakers are...Clinton and Obama, seriously and Crow etc.....where's Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt.....this is an embarrassment
Have you seen Garth's video where he goes thru the musicians that influenced him? There is a point in it where he is joking about every time he trys to show soul, he just gets "whiter". That no white people have any soul because God gave it all to James Taylor. He isn't wrong, JT oozes soul.

James Taylor himself is about as negative as you can get. He’s a chronic depressive personality.
Liberal theory: Stay away?
Where's Freedom of Speech?
Garth Brooks had tears in my eyes. That was a real honor to beheld. Thank you Kennedy Center for bringing all those beautiful people together.
James has always centered my soul. He is truly a gifted writer and performer.
I grew up with James Taylor and his music brings back so many memories for me. So glad he is being honored!
Stumbled on this video. What a treasure . A privilege to have had James Taylor's music throughout my life . Thank you James !
Unquestionably one of the best lyricists this country has ever produced...BY FAR my favorite singer songwriter...

I am 70 years old now and I have been calling myself Mrs. James Taylor since I was 14.
Then he divorced you and married me when I was 11 in 1971 😂❤❤❤

Always enjoyed James Taylor, his singing voice & his songs. Was always a fan listening to James perform & his duo with Carol King. ❤😊
JT has been the sound of my youth since the 70's...He is truly DESTINED to the HALL.....He all rocked us with lullabyes--like Baby James! Salute hero!

NOT an "embarrassment" it's a TRIBUTE. Go put out the fire someplace else, ok?
Can’t stand his music. It’s all a profoundly screaming I’m depressed to let me try to sing it away. Only tolerable songs are written by king.
