This scene reminds me of Mad Max. The whole movie, he has this shotgun with him, and anytime he needs someone gone or wants something, he made a threat with the shotgun. Half way through the film, he comes across a box of shells. He then loads the shotgun. The whole film he had been leveraging this shotgun to get his way but the whole time he had been making empty threats. Of course, no one wants to try their hand at surviving a point blank blast from a shotgun.
