Of course it is... and the reason everyone's fares go up so much each year - is as a direct result of the lost revenue from fare dodgers ! Plus - the London underground system is nothing to do with surface crime ! Get real !
All that ramble makes no sense, given that the programme is aimed at dealing with tackling fare evasion. Doesn't matter how poor you are, you know that it's not worth dodging the fare.
19:35 Why the hell are you still using Windows XP as a main CCTV system in 2019? XP went out of support years ago, you're (in this case TFL) just asking for trouble by using such an antiquated OS nowadays, especially in a system that may be connected online and is used on the frontline/in a major government organization. It is of my opinion that TFL computers (or similar) should always use the most up to date hardware and software, otherwise it's a matter of time before they are hacked themselves and lots of customer information is leaked to places you don't want it leaking.
These old CCTV systems are offline, but yeah, it’s still a bit of a problem, since you can connect USB devices with malware to it. It will get sorted out eventually, just like ATMs used to run on windows XP back in 2016
I found a loophole in their system that allows me to travel on the train network for nothing. It's also basically impossible for me to get caught. Haven't paid a train fair in over 2 years and will continue not to pay.
Ah, they do. Have you never heard of plan clothes?! Also don't you think ticket office staff are watching your ever move. They know every trick in the book. Pay your way or fuck off and walk.
Ive been fined by rail companies in the UK a couple of times for missing my connection and getting the next train with the same train company in an available non reserved seat and still treated like a criminal!
4 of my friends dodged a fare. The jobsworth enforcement officer followed them to an area with poor CCTV. They tripped him up and took a few items. Don't condone this but he should stay in his lane.
My friend works for the company that installed the gate line system (as well as the entire Oyster system), it’s made by a company in San Diego called Cubic Transport. Amazing system that’s in use all over the US, UK and world. Provides a lot of rider info for the police etc as well. They do the cards for San Francisco, LA, and NY as well. Pay the fare.
@@enthusiastisch1922 Sort your finances out then. Just as there's serious consequences for not paying taxes, there's serious consequences for not paying the fare.
Drug addicts and professional beggars riding the system, crashing the barriers: no problem. LT 'revenue protection' staff ignore them; we've all seen it. Fare paying passengers with anything to lose with a criminal record, family, job, reputation, home, etc, LT will pursue with the full vigour of the law.
In the United States, people just wouldn't care, give fake names, claim they lost their ID, and tear up the ticket. If a fare inspector pressed the issue, the offender would punch them in the face and run away. Its really amazing the culture in the UK where authority is so much more respected. The US has a *huge* problem with fare evasion and the offenders just don't give a damn at all.
Guns are far more lethal than knives. The vast majority of our criminals don't carry guns, so that makes them far more evenly matched with inspectors in force. Your criminals HUGELY outgun and outarm your inspectors, who I presume may not carry guns while on the job. That's the difference.
So, tell me why are there rail strikes saying the staff isn't even being payed properly? Seems like the "elite" bosses are even more worse than the poor who don't pay
Kinda feels like Victorian times...so they know which card is offending...is there no way to set the machines to alert audibly and visually when that card touches in or out? All this monitor watching, and staring at thousands of faces seems a bit archaic.
I wonder how far back they save the CCTV. Say it was 6 months. And say you were dodging fares for 2 years. You could just say you were given the Oyster card by a friend 6 months ago who has since left the country. If they couldn't prove it was you for the full 2 years you might not have to pay the full whack.

Just make public transport free and the problem goes away.
The last two people :- It is hard to discriminate them, their wages are too low, they have to get to work and the fares sap £££s from their meagre pay.....their families struggle = full stop.
They should give free travel or discounted travel for those who suffer the hardest, at least then they can still run their services
Instead of arguing with the ticket inspectors, and creating a scene, I recommend appealing the penalty fare in a proper manner afterwards.
Yes,hapoen to me also. My error and issue the fine. Officer just do duty.
The effort they puts just to catch a man or a woman bcs they dont want to pay is unbelievable like if they put that much effort into reducing gang violence streets would have been safer but they would rather fine a working class worker that tries to live his miserable life than actually protect the community TFL and all these officers are geeks

Surely it cost more to set up guys like this who bumped train
Ive been fined by rail companies in the UK a couple of times for missing my connection and getting the next train with the same train company in an available non reserved seat and still treated like a criminal!
I love these in fact I only missed this episode lol when it was streaming
4 of my friends dodged a fare. The jobsworth enforcement officer followed them to an area with poor CCTV. They tripped him up and took a few items. Don't condone this but he should stay in his lane.
My friend works for the company that installed the gate line system (as well as the entire Oyster system), it’s made by a company in San Diego called Cubic Transport. Amazing system that’s in use all over the US, UK and world. Provides a lot of rider info for the police etc as well. They do the cards for San Francisco, LA, and NY as well.
Pay the fare.
I'd like you to say that to a family who's on the bread line (Poverty)

They shouldn't care.
Guns are far more lethal than knives. The vast majority of our criminals don't carry guns, so that makes them far more evenly matched with inspectors in force. Your criminals HUGELY outgun and outarm your inspectors, who I presume may not carry guns while on the job. That's the difference.

They have to retain it for at least 30 days but I think TfL keep archives and can as the FPS is really low
