I think over the years this is kind of typical, it’s usually very limited after Christmas, people rush out to buy things, and then deliveries get a bit delayed because of the holidays. Happy new year 💚 thank you for giving us your updates on this 🤗
True, I know our stores, take advantage of the School holidays, where alot of items get bought up..To clean, restock..Only bringing out as they reself ...But yet, diffently in areas who knows..
In my town in Wisconsin, there is a dollar tree near to me, which is always half empty. It doesn't matter what time of year. Then last year, a new one opened up in town, about fifteen minutes from me. At first, it was beautiful and full of products. They did have items some for 3 dollars and five dollars. However, the last few times I have been in there, it was scarcely stocked. They are not carrying the shelf stable milk anymore, which was one of my main purchases there. The store manager said that there's a lot of theft with the usual suspects. It's a shame that we cannot have nice things anymore because of that.
Corporate WILL NEVER allow you to prevent ANY theft (even tho' they hold employees 100% responsible when it does happen...you will get fired if it happens too much on your watch..even if you're a stocker!) You have security cameras everywhere, but you are NEVER allowed to say anything..they do NOT want ANY bad publicity!! If an employee is stuck on register for the entire time store is open (employees dont show up A LOT) employee may eat/drink something near register, but pays for it when store closes and they are free to move away, employee will get FIRED for THAT! DT ignores labor laws!!!
I use to work for the dollar tree, two things are causing the issue….the stores are not given enough hours by corporate to allow for employees to be hired to keep stocked, or the managers are just not enforcing good customer service because they get bonuses. I quit because of the later. If the store has a good manager they will not have either issue.
Yes staff is limited behind the register are dirty floors dirty some won't put your items in your bag. Yes I know bags can be dirty. don't help customers anymore sad cause I like dollar tree I was a cashier at one time and bag for people but I don't know if dollar tree tells their employees no.
Also, remember the shipping strikes along east and gulf coasts set for Jan 15. Just more shortages possible. It's going to take a while to get out of these multiple messes out country has.🇺🇲🙏
This was my experience last time I went. (West TN) They DID have lots of crafting and holiday stuff. But, that was IT! And yes, DG sells a lot of things DT has for $1. I don't shop at Walmart. So I don't know about that.
empty shelves have been going on for a long time here in new orleans. i asked when things might be restocked but was told "i don't know" so it's a crap shoot about what will be available when you go in to shop. very disappointing.
Expect to find empty shelves during the holiday season plus everybody is panicking and buying things that are cheap right now before they go up in price. Happy New Year Alaskan Granny, may God bless you and your family and keep us informed in 2025. You're content is great and I love watching ❤
They should have done that a few years ago if that's the reason. I didn't panic by a few years ago I just stopped up. I don't believe in panicking if you're going to prep. Besides everything is on Amazon that's better quality and only costs a little bit more. And it gets delivered to my house.
I rarely shop at DT since they've become the Buck25 store, and the readers/ cheaters jumped to $1.50. The pasta used to be 24 oz, then dropped to 20, then 16. They haven't had chick peas / garbanzo beans for a long time and their bean selection never changes. As you noted, AG, many items cost less at WM. Some items DT jumped ro $1.25 were only 88 cents at WM. Also, one bulk bean purchase at WM or SC / Costco can save over 30% when compared to DT. There is NOWHERE I can invest my money and make 30%, so DT is out. I'll go there for the rare greeting card or on the fly medicine purchase, such as when I'm getting a medicine / get well kit for someone who is sick.
I work at my local dollar tree. Some of the holiday items are being packed away, & new holiday can’t be put up till old is packed away. Sometimes it can be poor leadership. At my store, customers & employees alike, have noticed we just aren’t getting regular priced toilet paper like we use to.
That is one of the worste stocked DT i have ever seen. Maybe (?) they're doing inventory before restocking. Walmart used to have the 88¢ medicine isle items but now theyre $1 or more. Even Dollar General $1 section has fewer items. I'm glad i have a couple of backups for things i need when i need them such as bandaids, allergy meds and various topical creams. I think the prices on all those items will contine to rise.
You comm is not true, different stores are not managed differently. DT HQ makes ALL decisions on what is shipped to which stores. Been that way for a few years. No manager has any say. They get what they're given.
Our nearest DT is almost an hour away and so I don’t get there terribly often, but I’ve noticed the food item section is shrinking and the crafts and decorations sections are growing. I was thinking supply chain issues could be the reason behind it. Happy New Year to you, Teddy and your loved ones. Let’s hope 2025 is a great year!❤🇺🇸
We had a Dollar Tree not far from us that suddenly closed a year ago and their shelves looked like what you saw right before they closed.i passed the recall info to someone who said she recently bought those patches at Dollar Tree.
Went to a Dollar Tree in Laughlin Nevada two days ago. There were a few empty spaces here and there, but overall, the store was crammed with products. They were still stocking the Valentine's Day decorations.
Same in our rural store in Michigan. We have a lot on the shelves but I think that's about to change, all over the USA. We'll see. Our DT had a bad holiday season, inventory barely sold or it just came in very late. Valentine's is out. People cannot spend.
I'm in the Central Valley of California. I have 3 DT stores within easy driving distance. The one closest to me is always poorly stocked. I mentioned that to a cashier at one of the other stores who said 'oh that's on the manager'. So that told me that lack of inventory in my closest store is due to a poor or absent manager. Plus the staff at that store always look unhappy.
The two Dollar Tree stores I shop at are fully stocked, it's a pleasure shopping in them. I live in NE Pennsylvania. I am there usually once a week. There is only one thing that disappoints me about the store, that is the fact that they changed the generic Zyrtec I have been buying there for years. They changed from a little tablet in a blister pack- 14 count- to liquid gels -12 count in a bottle in a box. Makes no sense.
Our local DT here in Western Washington is usually okay, but gets used heavily before the holidays. But it does seem at times less food, more crafts. I do think a good manager surely helps a store. Happy New Year AG! The very best of wishes for you and your family, and sweet little Teddy. 🐾🥰🇺🇸
Mine ( southeast Mississippi) was very well stocked with food items. But, as I mentioned in another comment, they had extra employees stocking like crazy. I was there at 9 a.m.. The only areas that I noticed any holes were personal hygiene ( body wash, shampoo, etc), and book areas. I managed to stock up on the packets of Hereford Chili con Carne ( I had bought one to try several months ago, and when I went, to get more, they were out). I also got some more pouches of La Sierra refried beans and found something new ... Eat Something Special jasmine rice pouches. They are both supposed to be microwaved, but I have used the beans straight out of the bag for burritos 🌯. Adding meat, cheese, some of the chili, salsa, and rice rolled into a tortilla makes a filling meal. Also, an easy Meal in a Bag! The only thing on my list that I didn't see were Margaret Holmes canned vegetables. And I found 2 8-ounce cartons of Marcel's "Holiday Nog" for $.25/each. I don't remember seeing any before Christmas. The BBD is December 26, 2024, so it may have been some overstock. I have one in the fridge getting cold, so I can try it tonight.
In Michigan our Dollar Tree Stores seem to be OK stocked. The organization and efficiency of them being run seems to stem from the employees of that store. Seems to be that way with Dollar General stores also. It is so easy to see this if you take the time to talk and just look. 😢
Just like any where you go just becuase we may order a particular item... doesn't mean we will always get it. Cuase could be manufacturing problem disturbing problem or cooperation might edit that for whatever reason sometimes it is really out of out control We may order 100 of this item they may send 50 ... 20 or just none . Remeber stores are doing the best they can with what they got
My nearby (southern CA) Dollar Tree's shelves looked like that a few months ago. I asked the cashier and she told me they were getting ready to change vendors. Next visit the shelves were fully stocked, and included many new, more expensive items. Some of the new merchandise costs less than at Walmart. The two office waste baskets I bought were a better price. I was glad to see my usual purchases were still available and at the $1.25 price.
I've noticed an increase in seniors shopping in the food section of my local Dollar Tree in rural Central Ohio. The shortages revolve and change. Also the prices are up to $5.00 now. Been shopping there for years.
I shared with everyone Ty for the info A Happy New Year wish for you AG a year full of peace, health, joy, and happiness. 🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️ Stay warm friend
I went to Walmart 12-31-25 & there were shelves missing like unusual spaces in store. They have the clearance (I was good, bought nothing;) but, even the food & you know the egg thing was low. Eggnog is just to Jan 10, 2025 which we noticed in Nov. I've seen Valentine's out & this is in Miami. Well, Happy New Year🎉
Happy New Year's to all... does anyone know where else you can buy shelf milk other than DD? I can't get out and its so handy to have on hand- I buy through instacart and their delivery fees are higher than other stores to the point I don't buy from them online.
My nearest Dollar Tree (10 miles away) and one I went to a few days ago 30 miles away had NO empty shelves here in Indiana. They are missing a few products that I am looking for and have a whole lot of items that I don't need.
I live in LA. All stores have had a reduced inventory for several months. I've started going to local dollar stores which are well stocked. I have seen the same or similar items at Walmart for the same or lower price.
We use to have a clean, well stocked Dollar Tree until the manager left for family reasons, all the employees that were under her has quit, they had to bring in employees from corporate, the shelves look like the ones in the store that you were showing.
Dollar Tree is in a financial mess after buying Family Dollar Now they are closing Family Dollar stores nation wide. The one in my town closes at the end of this month
In the east coast all are dollar trees look like this and it started in the beginning of covid its sad and they have a couple rows that are way more than a dollar and it's still all picked over and bearly and thing left 💔 😢
All my DT stores seem to be pretty stocked. They even have the shelf stable milk. It might just be what they have left over but, in the 5 DT in my area (North Florida) all seem to have the milk and are stocked.
@@AlaskaGranny I order a lot of DT stuff online. I went to check and the milk is still available for order online. At least at my store. I'm ordering 2 cases just in case lol.
Yeah, you're in Wisconsin. This is pretty typical of after the holidays. Plus with the new President coming in. That's usually a time that our Dollar Tree has things pretty empty as well?😊
Where I live it’s because no one wants to work. There is no one there to stock. The manager tried her hardest. Our store is closed on Saturday and Sundays because there is no one to work.
I was at my DT on Monday, and they had extra staff ( usually there is only the cashier and the manager) stocking shelves. I'm talking sometimes 3, but 2 people on each aisle! I asked one of the guys if they had any shelf stable whole milk and he said no, but that a truck would be coming in the next day ( I am never anywhere the truck had come in that day or the day before). That may be why they were stocking everything , so there would be room for new stock.
I think you covered it, poor staffing and the mgr not doing enough to stock shelves. I've notice with DG the cashier is expected to stock and wait on customers. So by the time they walk out to the isles where the stock is, they have to walk right back to wait on someone. So stock gets piled up in backrooms, and never makes it to the isle to get put up.
Rich folks are now buying at Dollar Tree and Aldi stores. No one can justify paying 3 to 5 times more, at the major chain grocery stores. I remember when I was stocking up on meds and other supplies in 2020, everyone was looking at me strangely, now they all wish that they had done the same.
Bull crap I'm not rich and I would never ever buy my food at a nasty China run dollar tree. You got to be freaking kidding me. Thank God we have marked down places here that carry high quality organic food otherwise yes I go to Aldi's in any other place where I can get organic food. There's something about not buying a bunch of junk that you don't need and a bunch of chemicals that you don't need that saves you a lot of money to buy the proper foods that your body really does need. And eating once a day really saves a lot of money so you can eat lobster every night if you want to.
Everyone wasn't looking at you I wasn't looking at you. I was prepping back in 2015 2020 was a breeze for me. Organic meat lining my freezer cuz I bought it at a great price I still have some. Because I can and prep you buy China tree garbage and act like people are jealous of you? You people need to quit using the word everybody cuz believe me I would never even be in that nasty place.
Because it's after the holiday rush. And they want everything turned over. Good chance a truck was delayed, etc. Kind of hard to say on one store in one place.
Just to let you know that eventually the store are goin to close cuz of economy and maybe the port that bring the packages to the containers to the port might go on strike
Nothing new on prices thats old news, of course certains items are better priced elsewhere...Alot of stores do alot cleaning, restocking after Christmas...& As we know some are making room for Price diffent items..Thank goodness scanners are going in..Happy New AG & FAMILY...🎉
It because it’s just after Christmas, most don’t have enough employees to unpack the merchandise when it comes in, and because of TH-camrs, more people are shopping there I think. When someone promotes something on TH-cam there is a run on it. Just my opinion. Even Walmart didn’t seem to have as much Christmas stuff this year. I didn’t see as many of the gift sets; like perfume, bath stuff, food kits, as usual.
You're right. Almost no Christmas merchandise left when I shopped at Wal-Mart today. In previous years there would be tons of markdowns post-Christmas.
Did you go after christmas? Ours are always wiped out after Christmas. We live in a poor area so its the first place many people go Especially when food stamps come
Alaskagranny my local store has all the price increases and it's horrible to have to look so close at every item. I think they are going the way 99cent store did out of BIZ! Just my opinion but that price increase ruined 99cent stores.
What a lot of people are doing is buying Dollar Tree goods at $1.25 and selling them online on E-Bay for a profit. Example...Buy an item at Dollar Tree for $1.25 and sell it on E-Bay for $5.00. Kinda unfair to Dollar Tree shoppers that want the item in question, but in these tough times, an easy and smart way in which to make a little extra money.
I went into our towns DT a smaller store, we're rural. The Christmas items barely sold this year. They've barely sold at 50% off after Christmas. People aren't spending. I know there are problems at the ports. I follow a Canadian trucking channel called Mutha Trucker that covers the American and the Canadian trucking industry. There are all kinds of problems with in trucks and shipping. I've heard stories of anticipated tariff wars. We've all heard about Amazon's strike. I expect postal shipping problems. I've heard the current administration is spending so hard they're trying to leave nothing for spending for the up coming administration. If you haven't heard anything about January 21 and Tom Homan, then God help you. Common sense would tell everyone that with all trucking, and ports there's likely to be little movement, for anyone trying to travel its not a good idea. I think anyone who wants to even consider traveling, for months to come would be a huge risk taker. Don't plan on a cruze. I've heard as of Jan 1, 2025 no eggs are allowed to be sold that are kept in cages (the lowest price eggs are off the shelves), probably forever. Prices on eggs will be higher. I've seen the words Great Depression being tossed around. I live in a small space so I recently learned how to can meat the Amish way. I'm ready.
It is true supplies are starting to dwindle at some store even Wal-Mart's but it is the holiday season and employees maybe a bit behind. China I think is starting to limit products that they ship to Canada at least, I have had a few things refunded because of "trade restrictions !" Yes I think China is starting to sanction the west. Time will tell.
Looks like my dollar store 😂 probably poor store employees getting slammed for the holidays, bit something to keep an eye on. I cancelled a Walmart order pick up today because they were missing the three items I really needed!
@@NancyK-cu6xj Nah, they were just add ons to get to the free pick up 😆. I trade commodities, I always know what's going on in the raw food and material markets. Not really seeing anything alarming at the moment. But I always have a year of food and essentials just in case!
Why are Dollar store shelves empty? Besides the fact that its just after the Holidays, fear mongers are spouting off "You have to be afraid of this. You have to be afraid of that. stock up,Stock up,STOCK UP. "🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 While folks like us just prepare slowly and surely for emergencies. Fearful people empty the shelves. We have no need to empty them.🤗

Yes the stores are bare. I also saw employees removing things from shelves.

Happy New Year's to all... does anyone know where else you can buy shelf milk other than DD? I can't get out and its so handy to have on hand- I buy through instacart and their delivery fees are higher than other stores to the point I don't buy from them online.
It is challenging when you cannot get out.
Hi Alaska Granny 👋🏻
Thanks for sharing.
May be, tomorrow, I will go and find out.
Happy New Year 🎈🎊🎆
You’re welcome, Happy New Year to you too!
Thanks for the update!
You're welcome!
You're welcome!
My nearest Dollar Tree (10 miles away) and one I went to a few days ago 30 miles away had NO empty shelves here in Indiana. They are missing a few products that I am looking for and have a whole lot of items that I don't need.
Nice to know.
Not unusual during the holidays. Mine was wiped out after Christmas. They were busy restocking and stocking for Valentines and Easter
Thanks for sharing!!
Mine was the worst "bare shelves" Ive ever seen yesterday(and I used to work there) but there were tons of boxes around to unpack.
At least there are boxes coming.
Dollar Tree is in a financial mess after buying Family Dollar Now they are closing Family Dollar stores nation wide. The one in my town closes at the end of this month
Yes, I have read about that.
In the east coast all are dollar trees look like this and it started in the beginning of covid its sad and they have a couple rows that are way more than a dollar and it's still all picked over and bearly and thing left 💔 😢
I found stores in Arizona recovered from Covid, and nicely stocked.
The stores in my area have made to the jump to $1.25 PLUS so shelves are full of $3 and more items.
Hi AG 👋 thanks for showing us this. I havent tbeen in ours lately but going soon. I will let you know what it looks like here in Indiana. 😊
I look forward to hearing how your store is doing!
All my DT stores seem to be pretty stocked. They even have the shelf stable milk. It might just be what they have left over but, in the 5 DT in my area (North Florida) all seem to have the milk and are stocked.
It's nice to hear that some stores are doing well!
That's usually a time that our Dollar Tree has things pretty empty as well?😊
Dollar tree shelves are empty because they don’t want to staff their stores. They look like Treasure City just before they closed.
This I think is a dollar tree problem I agree my store is the same qay
Where I live it’s because no one wants to work. There is no one there to stock. The manager tried her hardest. Our store is closed on Saturday and Sundays because there is no one to work.
Wow, hard times for your area if people won't work and stores are closed.
Thank you, AG. I was wondering if bare shelves could be because more people are shopping there due to the economy.
That’s a good point.
Dollar Tree and Dollar General, always understaffed, many are outright filthy. Both many times are higher priced than elsewhere.
No place has enough help, nor do the stores want to pay for hours.
That’s a big challenge for many stores right now.
Thanks for sharing this info!
It’s a challenge with so many tasks to juggle.
I see empty slots every time, at multiple stores. It was rare before 5 years ago, at least in my area.
I know, it's changed a lot.
Discieving title. I am in NY and commented to a worker that they really sold out alot and that is a good thing right? He looked sad.
The one I went to today in Oakland, CA was honestly way more bare than this.
Wow, sorry to hear that.
Nothing new on prices thats old news, of course certains items are better priced elsewhere...Alot of stores do alot cleaning, restocking after Christmas...& As we know some are making room for
Price diffent items..Thank goodness scanners are going in..Happy New AG & FAMILY...🎉
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Now that DT looks like mine!
Walgreens shelves near me look like that now.
Some stores let inventory run low at the end of year for tax purposes
Did you go after christmas? Ours are always wiped out after Christmas. We live in a poor area so its the first place many people go
Especially when food stamps come
Good report, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !
Thanks for watching!
Alaskagranny my local store has all the price increases and it's horrible to have to look so close at every item. I think they are going the way 99cent store did out of BIZ! Just my opinion but that price increase ruined 99cent stores.
I have noticed a few empty spots.
Our shelves aren't empty. They have set up new displays.
It's normal this time of the year. Christmas just passed.
If that's really true then people on eBay are total idiots. That's why I have an Amazon account I can buy everything way cheaper and be protected.
I know the feeling, it's crazy to not get the items we really want in online orders.
I think you'll wish you hadn't cancelled what you could have gotten.
@@NancyK-cu6xj Nah, they were just add ons to get to the free pick up 😆.
I trade commodities, I always know what's going on in the raw food and material markets. Not really seeing anything alarming at the moment. But I always have a year of food and essentials just in case!
☕😁👍
Perhaps the Trump China tariff has corporate dollar tree directing their replenishment trucks to more busy stores
Grab it before it's gone
Why are Dollar store shelves empty? Besides the fact that its just after the Holidays, fear mongers are spouting off "You have to be afraid of this. You have to be afraid of that. stock up,Stock up,STOCK UP. "🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
While folks like us just prepare slowly and surely for emergencies. Fearful people empty the shelves. We have no need to empty them.🤗
