- A night out for a Central Florida couple halted with a grisly discovery. Kendall Hardester and Ismail Rainey found a badly wounded man on the path along Lake Monroe in Sanford.

We live in gator country but never imagined we might be confronted by gator activity.
Coming by Lake Monroe area years age when lack of rain caused the lake to be low , people were pulled over to see tons of gators on a newly created beach all around the edges. I will not even stand at the edge of the water. Made me think of the videos when animals in Africa go to drink.
I recall those times when the water was super low and the edges around the main walk way where wed ,watch the fireworks well still watch them, were without water on them like that was late 80s early 90s if there were other times of no water around the edges of the lake front i wouldnt recall!!!

Unfortunately this has happened in Largo Florida also to a homeless woman sleeping near water. It dragged her off and ate her.
The lake isn't "infested". It's a body of water in F-L-O-R-I-D-A. This is a natural habitat.

Gator mating and nesting season now. They get more aggressive. And yes, that waterway there is filled with big gators. Stood there and lost count of them one day, there were just to many to keep up with. Hope this poor man will recover. Blessings on those who rushed to help him.
Every day in FL someone gets struck by lightning, drowns in a pool, or gets attacked by a gator. Occasionally, someone dies from a coconut falling on their head.

If it’s wet, there’s gators in there is the best bit of advice I was ever given when I was a kid and moved to the other side of the lake outside of Osteen and for a kid from up north I took the advice seriously because there’s ponds lakes and rivers all over that area
That lake is peppered with gators!!! Especially during mating season!!! I’d never swim in that lake!!!

How awful. But there is a silver lining alittle bit for the man hurt. He can get disability now because of his arm and hopefully won’t be homeless with some income. I know Florida is a tuff place to rent ( where isn’t ?) but at least money will be coming in. He’s lucky those people helped him. Now days most people just drive by and don’t care. Sad. 😞

The gators usually strike on the edge of the water and not as much in the middle of the lake. That said, I wouldn't want to test it out at night.
