Have to give a big shout out to Tony, had an error message when trying to use the Selection Brush, tried a few of his suggestions (make sure you use a soft brush--no custom ones) and it works like a charm. Thanks Dave for showing how to use this!
Dave, nice video again. I thought you already made one, but I couldn't find one. Tony Kuyper shows us that Photoshop can be really easy, if you use the TK plug ins.
I acquired this TK tool as soon as it was released. Could not figure it out myself. Now this tutorial and I full understand how brilliant this tool is. Kudos to Tony for creating an awesome tool, and kudos to Dave for clearly demonstrating and explaining his tool. Thanks Dave!!!
Dave, I uploaded the tool a few days ago, and started to use it on some of my bird photo edits. I loved it immediately and it was easy to use. However, watching your video taught me a few things I didn't know. Thanks. I really appreciate your videos, they have really elevated my editing in Photoshop.
Hello Dave thank you for demoing the new TK selection brush. I just installed it and will do some testing. I don't know how Tony Kuyper does it but he always finds a way to improve the TK environment and adds new capabilities. Cheers!
Thank you very much for the excellent explanation of this new tool from Tony Kuyper! And, if you're reading along here Tony, a big thank you to you for this tool that you've once again made available to us free of charge! Best regards from Germany ...
Thanks again Dave. As you must now be aware PS has moved the Adjustment Brush out of Beta to the last PS update. If Tony could incorporate this brush to make a selection from this new panel panel it would be very good.
Nice intro to the Selection Brush panel. I've been playing with it for a while now and personally I'm not seeing any advantage over using quick mask mode.
Initially hesitant on this until seeing the extreme points brush method and lasso methods. Will try as soon as I get home. A save selection button would be nice. Too bad Topaz doesn’t have this as I find only brush selection annoying. Thanks Tony and Dave for making us more efficient.
Don't forget that there are selection related options in Cx/Combo panels - save, feather, expand and contract. The selection brush works best in conjunction with the TK9 panels which give the additional functionality without complicating the new selection brush. (I have had some input into its development so have been using it for a while.)
Hi Dave, I found this very useful but I am struggling to see the advantage of using the four point method with the rectangular tool compared to using the standard photoshop object selection tool in the rectangular mode. I found that using the standard tool and then using the new TK selection panel if needed to define the selection easier
My initial reaction is that it seems cumbersome and may not fit my workflow. I certainly will download and give it a try. Thanks for the video and introduction to this new TK selection brush.
You can use Select and Mask to refine any selections you make with the TK Selection brush. There is a S&M Button on the Combo and CX Panel to take you right to Photoshop's Select and Mask feature.
hey Tony .... a great explanation but .... when i'lld try to download the TK brush tool, i've get this ... ooops .... page not found ..? is there a link that works fine ? thanks a lot Tony ..
Not sure what the problem could be. The "Free Checkout" buttons seem to be working fine for others. Maybe try a different computer or different browser.
You can but it will show up as an icon and when you click on the icon it will open and stay open until you close it. I like docking it like I did in the video.
With Photoshop's Generative fill. You can use the Standard Selection to paint on your selections. Plus, you can adjust your brush opacity and hardness to use it to blend in your ai generations. Or you can use the TK Gen Fill panel by itself because it allows you to paint on your selections and choose various brush opacities. Check my Channel and you will find TK Gen Fill videos.
Hi Dave, I have downloaded the TK selection brush. I'm using Photoshop Beta 25.11.0. When I try to use the selection brush, all I get is an error message saying TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading'_value') what am I doing wrong. Thank you.
My lasso brush is not working at all. I get an outline with dots, I click on the lasso brush again and nothing happens no ants no nothing. Can't make any adjustment to that area. I uninstalled it and re installed it, it just does not work
I am unable to reproduce this problem and have reports that resetting Ps preferences fixes it. So, at the moment, it looks like it might be a Photoshop issue and not a Selection Brush issue. Try resetting Ps preferences and see if that works.
I sent Tony a message regarding the error I get when clicking on any of the brushes. "TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading '_value')" Wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

After getting some feedback from Susan, we determined that the best workaround for this is to first set your Photoshop Paintbrush tool to the soft, round brush BEFORE clicking one of the selection types on the plugin. This problem seems to be related to the presence of something other than the soft, round brush as the selected brush. I'll be releasing an update that hopefully prevents this error message if something other than the soft, round brush is the active brush. Most users probably just use the soft round, brush all the time (like me), but for those who use custom brushes, the update should help.
Excellent!! Takes selections to a whole new level. Thanks!!

Excellent as always. Mr Kuyper once again showing Adobe how they should have built it. Thanks for the brilliant demo!
Dave, I was waiting anxiously for this one - knew it was coming soon. Great job, as usual. Thanks so much!

Tony is amazing!
as always Dave, very well explained. Thanks.
Thanks again Dave, now with a better understanding of how to use this tool it will be a common go to for me.
I really love this TK selection brush. Thanks for the video
Your clear explanation of this great new tool was much appreciated Dave!
Great tutorial Dave and yet again a fabulous toolkit from TK. Thank you both👍
Excellent...looks like an excellent tool.....and also excellent presentation....

Well done Dave! Love it. Will be using this. Thank you.
Hi Dave great demonstrations of the new TK Selection B. but its does not working it read TypeError cannot red properties. Thank you for your attention

I find the dot method to be faster for me. It really comes down to what you like.
Very well explained Dave.

I love it and will give it a try. Thanks !
I was also waiting for your video on this ew tool Thanks for posting!
Thank you Tony and Thank you Dave.
Thank you very much. Can you show me how to setting the cursor as you ‘re using? Do i need to install another tool to setting like this?
My video editing software makes my cursor look bigger to call it out in videos.
Very instructive. Thank you. Perfect
Very useful, Dave, thanks!
Very informative as always Dave , what if you need to refine the edge eg hair , fur or feathers on many wildlife images ?
You can use Select and Mask to refine any selections you make with the TK Selection brush. There is a S&M Button on the Combo and CX Panel to take you right to Photoshop's Select and Mask feature.
Interesting..... Thanks Dave, will check it out 😊
Without a shadow of a doubt, the most convoluted interface ever devised. It's like a chinese symbol typewriter.

Wow great! Thanks for the video.
Love it. How reliable is it with "fly-away" hair??
It works with Photoshop's Object Selection Tool.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks. Will keep trying!
Thx. Is there a way to get it to dock vertically in one of the other skinny tool columns instead of a dedicated column just for the brush?
You can but it will show up as an icon and when you click on the icon it will open and stay open until you close it. I like docking it like I did in the video.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thx.
Great! How would you integrate TK Selection Brush with TK Gen Fill
With Photoshop's Generative fill. You can use the Standard Selection to paint on your selections. Plus, you can adjust your brush opacity and hardness to use it to blend in your ai generations. I don't know why that is happening. Please contact Tony Kuyper and let him know the issue you are having.
My lasso brush is not working at all. I get an outline with dots, I click on the lasso brush again and nothing happens no ants no nothing. Can't make any adjustment to that area. I uninstalled it and re installed it, it just does not work
Please get in touch with Tony, he would like to know of any issues with the TK Selection Brush.
Same problem. Do you work on a Mac?
@@hansljung4979 Yes, I work with 2019 iMac.
I am unable to reproduce this problem and have reports that resetting Ps preferences fixes it. So, at the moment, it looks like it might be a Photoshop issue and not a Selection Brush issue. Try resetting Ps preferences and see if that works.
@@TonyKuyper I have found that the problem occurs when Units & Rulers are set to something other than Pixels under Units.
