Coldest country in Africa is Lesotho aka Sweden of Africa. South Africa has bitter cold dry winter, with some exception in places such as the Eastern Cape, Free State and Western Cape were it snows. Other places of ZA are bitterly cold even though there is no snow.
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have permanent glaciers on their mountains despise being on Equator. Mts Kenya, Kilimanjaro and Ruwenzori peaks look similar to Antarctica., totally snow covered deserts.
I regularly go snowboarding in Lesotho, they have a Ski resort there. During Winter when we are there day time temperatures barely go above 2 Degrees Celcius, with nighttime and early morning in the negative 8 or 10 depending on the year. It’s freezing up there.
South Africa 🇿🇦 is known for snow, and even Table Mountain sometimes get snow. In Worcester, we had snow in December, the height of summer. In the same town, 54°C in the shade, 76°C in the sun, was recorded. Snow, however, is not alien to South Africa 🇿🇦 as cut-off low pressure systems introduce frosty air from the faraway Antarktika. Yes,South Africa is close to Antarctica(closest African country) and is far from equator. It is a continent. It is similar weather to New Zealand and parts of Europe. It's nothing new. Also they are in the Souther hemisphere so their winter is in May etc)
Yes South Africa has a different climate cause the 80% of the land is under the Tropic of Capricorn till the 35°S of the Eastern Cape, but mostly because also the 70-80% of the land is mountainous with highlands. And I'm saying all those, because even Cape Town and Port Elizabeth which are the southernmost cities, they have a type of Oceanic-Mediterranean climate and not a clear temperate. Most temperate-European, could be characterized the mountainous climate of Lesotho, than the rest average area of South Africa. I can't say that South Africa has the same cold in winter, even as Greece and the southern half of Italy. It's much more milder.

In the southern hemisphere, seasons are simply the contrary of the northern hemisphere because of the way the Earth faces the sun. This means that when it's summer in the northern hemisphere like Canada or Russia, it is winter in Australia, South Africa and Argentina

One of the reasons why Africa's climate and weather is so varied and diverse is because large parts of the continent are made up of high altitude plateaus that greatly impact the weather patterns on the continent. This is why for example you have places like the interior of Kenya experiencing something more closer to a temperate to subtropical climate despite being located in an equatorial latitude, with equator literally dividing the country in half. This is also why, despite the country being right on the equator, there are literally no tropical rainforests in the country, with most of the vegetation being made up of subtropical savanna, similar to what's found in the northern parts of South Africa, like in the Kruger National Park. The Highveld region of South Africa is another example of a case where the climate is influenced by altitude. The region, which encompass mostly the central parts of the country's interior to the west of the Drakensberg Mountains, is a high altitude plateau that sits at an altitude of between 1000m and 1800m above sea level. Despite it being located at what should be a subtropical latitude, the region experiences a more temperate climate similar to that of Midwestern US. For some perspective, the east coast of South Africa for example, particularly along the KZN coast (Durban is often referred to as the place of the eternal summer), which is pretty much in the same latitude as the Highveld, but at sea level, experiences a typical subtropical climate with warm wet summers and relatively mild dry winters, in contrast to the Highveld where winters can be bitterly cold, with even the occasional snowfall every now and then. And then of course there's the mountain regions like the Drakensberg and Maluti Mountains of South Africa and Lesotho respectively, the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and to a lesser extent the Ethiopian Highlands, that experience a more Alpine climate similar to that of the European Alps and Himalayas, hence Lesotho is often referred to as the Switzerland of Africa, because the two countries do pretty much share a common climate.

The North West and Central West of the country gets lots of rain. Ain Draham gets over 60 inches of rain a year and snow falls every year. Towns like : Thala, Makthar, Sakiet Sidi Youssef and Kesra have a very harsh winter. Colder then some European countries due to the altitude. Over 1000 m The lowest temperature ever recorded in Tunisia was -12 -20 in Algeria And -25 in the highland of the Altas mountain in Morroco. The east coast of Tunisia has a relatively mild winter but NW and CW are bad. In some area the snow can reach up to 1,5 m and last for weeks on the Ground. Back in the 60s and 70s The snow falls in December and only melt in March in NW of Tunisia. But then with global warming it gets less and less every year.

Plenty especially in the Nyandarua ridges and Mt Kenya areas of Kenya.
Its normal guys relax, it was a bit harder this years but it snows in parts of South Africa
Snow falls in Morocco in 42 provinces and reaches 5 meters in the High and Medium Atlas Mountains
@Grace Darko, No ma,m, there’s no such thing as snow anywhere in Ghana. Ghana might have harmattan like Nigeria and the rest West and Central Africa but definitely not snow.
Cameroon in the west region snow have been experienced several times
Lesotho is cooold (for africa)
It definitely snows at the top of Kilimanjaro.
Man i wish people knew that my country Morocco has snow in the winter 😔

It does snow in SA and Lesotho
Morocco as well. Atlas mountains
@@mysteriousDSF Both Lesotho and South Africa are very cold countries in winter , they are close to Antartica especially the western cape, eastern cape and the southern part of norther cape and free state provinces and are influenced by the cold fronts from there. Many Asians are surprised abt how cold South Africa is , they think it is a huge tropical ,hot place . They freeze when they get here in winter.
I thought north africa is desert is only hot but Iearn even sahara got cold time

Every African must study geography. If you do you would realise that you inhabit indeed the blessed land. North and South of the equator. Winter on the south while summer in the north. Planting seasons are year round... Africa must develop an efficient agricultural system where products are shipped via rail road seas and air year round north to south to North. Plan it Do it
Okay mr president we will get it done 1 year top
I knew it snows is some countries, but never knew which ones.
I don’t get it Kenya is in tropic zone which is said to not have any snow
I thought only South Africa has snow
Its wierd I know 😂 The reason why Kenya is cool is the altitude. Most areas inland of Kenya are influenced by the many Highlands and mountains.
Areas near the aberdare ranges and mau ranges experience cold winters witch sometimes lead to snow and also mount kenya has permanent snow in its slopes.
Geeeeeez ..... Central Kenya is cooooooold
Wonders of nature! Only SA has snow?
I had been in the Horn of Africa Ethiopia back in 2013 at the ending of August it was cold I was shocked but then I found out from the locals they told me personally that Ethiopian gets 5 months of sunshine and rest ofthe months is cold 🥶 don’t listen to white people travel to 🇪🇹 Ethiopia and find out from the locals like 👍 I did
There is also snow in Libya every year🇱🇾♥️
Yes in jbel akhdar
I think Africa is most diverse continent on the planet. Each countries containing ten's of hundreds tribes, with different languages and cultures. The land and climates are also diverse. Somebody told me the other day that Wheat cannot grow in Africa, I told him you joke.

if you put them in order i dont agree with you to say Kenya is coldest, come to Lesotho is it fridge of africa....that place is so cold, sometimes it snows in summer months especially in the mountains of it.
Lesotho is definitely the coldest one in Africa. The list is no particular order. Though Kenya is also hella cold especially now.
Some places in Kenya are hella cold, places like Kericho where tea leaves get frost bite and its not snow, ive also heard is hella cold in South africa.
True in the olden days but however with this global warming and stuff our winters can last up to October in the mountainous regions or Highlands of Lesotho to a point where it'd still snow even in October. A lot of times when SA rains in Lesotho's Highlands it snows..it applies to Lesotho's lowlands also when it's raining in the Highlands it's snowing.
Do you know Ethiopia is home of 70-80% of mountains of Africa? That’s why Ethiopia is the coldest country in Africa. Also known as “THE ROOF OF AFRICA “. Also ADDIS ABABA is the highest capital city in Africa. While Ethiopia has the hottest and lowest place on earth.
NOT TRUE. might be the highest Capital ,Not the Coldest, Maseru LESSOTHO
Lesotho also known as the Roof of Africa/Kingdom in the sky/Mountain Kingdom, the coldest country in Africa hence the most elevated country on earth with the highest lowest point of over 1400m above sea level. Hope this helps!
Lesotho is the Coldest not Ethiopia

Cape town gets snow on the mountains in winter too.....
Hi!
Great video mate 👍
You’re right about Tunisia.
Winter can be cold and very long.
Usually starts from Mid November till late March.
Over 1000 m
The lowest temperature ever recorded in Tunisia was -12
-20 in Algeria
And
-25 in the highland of the Altas mountain in Morroco.
The east coast of Tunisia has a relatively mild winter but NW and CW are bad.
In some area the snow can reach up to 1,5 m and last for weeks on the Ground.
Back in the 60s and 70s
The snow falls in December and only melt in March in NW of Tunisia.
But then with global warming it gets less and less every year.
It actually snows on Mt Kilimanjaro
It does.
thank you but also please include the bale mountains in ethiopia
