THANK YOU for showing the internals of the joystick! All of the people that spray contact cleaner or air into their joystick clearly don't understand the mechanism. I just opened mine last weekend, before seeing this vid, and bent out the metal contacts a little to increase their friction. I'm sure it's only temporary, but apparently so are new joysticks! 😂
So educational, thanks a lot! I also quite appreciate the in-depth look at the joystick itself. Once had a quest 2 with a lot of drift on delivery, warranty covered my issue but good to know its a doable fix on my quest 3!
Seeing the contacts really puts things into perspective thank you. So now we know that contact cleaner does nothing. If anything, it could be making it worst.
I’ve used many controllers over the years, and they were always solid and durable. The Quest 3 controllers, though, feel cheap from the start. My right controller even broke just after the warranty ended-it feels like they’re made to fail. I’m not going to support this system with my wallet anymore. I’ll just look for alternatives that are actually built to last.
One of my controller is starting to have stick drift with less than 1 year lifespan. Easy to say i'm really disappointed in the build quality, Quest 3 is not that cheap of a product after all.
Usually if you’ve dropped it and you’re getting a boot loop that means that one of your cameras isn’t working correctly. So I would select the camera repair service on our website.
wtf isnt the quest3s just out for like 1 month? wtf are ppl doing with their sticks, been gaming for over 20 years, 0 drift on any of my joysticks. not saying using one for 20. how.
I been using an Xbox 360 controller for over a decade and a half and it never got drift, tho the PS4 controller, like 6 months and it already has drift, same for joycons... It's just the design of new joysticks, they are made to break, not to last...
I think mine is bad. Got it and haven’t played it much but now dealing with AC and then half life alyx is when trying to turn the camera on my right controller it jumps me ahead and snaps instead. Does that sound right?
what should i do if i’ve already replaced my joystick with a new one but the stick drift still persist? (i know in fact the joystick i used is fine as i used it for my other controller.) Any ideas?
I've used both Quest 2 and Quest 3 controllers The Quest 2 definitely tracked better The Quest 3 controllers will fly above your head and behind you if they're on your lap when sitting down They just have to be ever so slightly out of the cameras and they start flying around like a tornado just went through the room Maybe that's a software thing too on the headset side. But it's annoying that you basically can't just sit the controllers down to rest for a minute.

And no company has made a drop in hall effect replacement joystick?
Kinda weird right?
And what ? Drop their controller extra sales?)
Awesome video, thanks for the great explanation and walkthrough.
Where can i get these parts?
At 8:00
What did he mean by "take some ISO to this"?
If that's what he said, sorry English is not my first language
Great question. ISO is slang for Isopropyl alcohol.
@@fixmyoculus thanks🫡
Would upgrading to Hall effect joysticks provide a longer lasting stick? Thank you for showing the process.
Does the repair thing in the website also repair boot loops after dropping it?
Usually if you’ve dropped it and you’re getting a boot loop that means that one of your cameras isn’t working correctly. So I would select the camera repair service on our website.
@@fixmyoculus ok thanks

Every year I need to replace my sticks. ~4h a day of use and they drift after about 11 months.
Surprised to see the 3S already drifting though

I have a Quest 2 and it's complete garbage. Literally trash. It's spyware that playing crappy Android games.
i didnt see joystick parts in the quest 3 category i should be fine ordering quest 2 joystick?
Yes. It’s the same module.
I think mine is bad. Got it and haven’t played it much but now dealing with AC and then half life alyx is when trying to turn the camera on my right controller it jumps me ahead and snaps instead. Does that sound right?
I hit my controller with my other controller and now there is a very slight spring rattle noise from the joystick is the spring broken?
I hit my controller and the joystick spring makes noise is it fixable?
What kit did you buy to have all those screwdrivers and stuff?
I’ve purchased so many different kits it’s a melting pot of probably 15 sets. I really like the one we have on our website though.
I ordered a joystick but this looks way to complicated, could i send you the joystick and controller and you fix them for me or no?
what should i do if i’ve already replaced my joystick with a new one but the stick drift still persist? (i know in fact the joystick i used is fine as i used it for my other controller.) Any ideas?
Excellent.
cant the make a joystick what does not go bad, hall effects or something like that??? do they make that for this controller?
No. They don’t.
can you help me fix my controllers they will not track but the left controller connects. Quest 2
Yes of course. Have you checked out our website for repair options?
I've used both Quest 2 and Quest 3 controllers
The Quest 2 definitely tracked better

these controllers arent very repair friendly are they
Hopefully, the Valve Deckard will bring some competition. Dealing with Xbox / PlayStation clown-level quality is miserable.
Mine is straight up stuck drifting
What about the Index controllers?
are you actualy thick or something🤣
WD-40 is for medals but BW-100 is a is cleaning solution for electronics
I haven’t gotten stick drift even after 2 years on my quest 2
Strange, I never got stick drift
So basically disassemble the whole thing just to replace the stick. Well at least the stick isn't soldered to the board...
