Thanks another great video, i just purchased 2oz from your website. I've been keeping NEOS for a few months but haven't had much luck with babies, many of the shrimp information videos recommended a lower protein diet but I have some fish fry in a shrimp tank and feed baby brine shrimp 6 times a day and all the females are berried with tons of eggs so im now a believer, your food has black and earth worm as well as brine shrimp flakes with everything else they need in a complete powder so I believe my shrimp will be healthier and its easy just using one food so thank you for making this and selling it.
I've had people tell me they were able to raise fry that they had troubles with before with the food too. Might not be as good as baby brine, but it's up there lol.
Thanks for this very detailed video. I've only had my Neocaridina tank for about a year and a half. It's unusual that you say to feed shrimp high protein foods. It seems that most other breeders recommend the protein level more in the 34% range. I like to feed my shrimp every day, so I don't feed much. And I feed a rotating diet with everything ground up, for the same reason you mention, so that the babies can find a little everywhere. I do find feeding ground food requires a little more filter maintenance. I'm sure your plecos help with any excess food, and I don't have plecos in my shrimp tank. The way I can tell if I'm over feeding is that my copepod population spikes a little bit. Thanks again for this video.
Not sure what is unusual, I go by what gets results for me, not what other people say lol. Again it takes way more work like this with the water changes and tank resets, and yep lol, sponge filters clog up way faster for sure.
I mix up a liquid of different powdered shrimp foods, I feed with a small syringe it helps me to not over feed. Boosting for the algorithm 🙌 Love your work, keep it up! 🌻🐝
Im going to pick up some of your food on my next order. Wafers aren't doing it for me. I just ordered some of your blue jellies. Its a new color for me so I am stoked! Its a real struggle ordering online but after reading everyone's comments, Im feeling pretty good about it Update: Received my order timely and in the Florida heat, they all arrived alive and healthy. Great quality skrimps!
my fresh food from you arrived!! now that its warm out im gonna start feeding more again. theres a small but even ratio of shrimp sexes in my tank right now so im hoping its good
Ideally the calcium shrimp need should be In their water, it may have some, but not added. The minerals shrimp need should be in water, you should be find unless your water is super soft. Thank you for the support 👍
Yeah they'll do just fine off anything, and anything powdered does great. But I see a pretty big difference with higher protein foods that have different sources of protein. Most pre-made foods will have a decent mix, but be a little lower in protein.
my rule of thumb has become to feed my bristles every other day and 2 times at most a week the shrimp with crustacean pellets. i was powdering the wafers and pellets but ended up with a snail explosion and that led to mixed results. in 2 of my tanks my shrimp have begun predating tiny snails but the pleco tanks just got a snail problem
My snail issues mostly went away when I quit feeding algae wafers and having food sit in tank for too long. When breeding plecos and raising the fry, snail infestations are inevitable
Agree 100% with your approach and have been doing it since getting shrimp from you and I can’t believe how many I have now in such a short time. Constantly new babies and they survive and my shrimp never hide just eat all the time. Thanks again for giving me such a great start in the hobby.
Not exactly related to the video but any idea when you're going to have super red bristlenoses available again? I've ordered 6 at this point from elsewhere and have 1 to show for it. Which at fifteen bucks a pop HURTS. trying to get at least one pair for my 60 gallon tank but struggling 😅
I don't really raise plecos on purpose, they just kinda happen. Haven't seen any super red babies since I reset their tank for yellow shrimp, so probably not anytime soon unfortunately.
Nice 👍 I am farming as many as possible and still really only go through less than 2lbs a month with all my tanks being fed daily, a little goes a long way. Thanks Larry 👍
how about a nice detailed video on your weekly maintenance, monthly and yearly? How many times a day are you feeding your shrimp you didn't say that just how much you give
The water parameters for my neocardina tank are perfect. I have verified all of it. But my shrimp still keep dying one by one. No diet helps. I'm close to quitting the hobby.
What is perfect? Are you using tap water? Most problems with tap water don't show up with typical test strips. You could have issues that your typical aquarium hobbyist tests do not test for.
@@MarkShellyAquatics I have pH of 7.5, gh 8 degrees, kh 1, TDS 220, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate minimum (planted tank Java fern and water wisteria), no copper found in tank, temperature 22 deg Celsius. I feed them once a week with soya husks or algal wafers. I am really struggling to find something that I've done wrong. My shrimp aren't breeding either. I buy my shrimp from a local breeder who uses the same tap water in my city, so I think there is only a small chance tap water is the issue. My next action will be RO water + salty shrimp Gh+/Kh+ if I'm still.not getting baby shrimps and still getting deaths. This hobby has been very depressing over the past year.
@paulinejackson5861 your kh is very low for neos, do you notice an ph fluctuations? If a breeder has same tap water I would be looking at something in tank. New plants? Wood? Types of things that can come treated with pesticides
@@MarkShellyAquatics I'm surprised it's considered low, I was under the impression tha neocardina shrimp require a kh of 0-4. My driftwood and plants were all bought from the same (reputable) shrimp breeding specialist store, so pesticides and things like that I would consider unlucky. Their shrimp stocks look really good. If this is the case, I think I am just going to remineralise RO water with salty shrimp. This would eliminate water parameters as an issue. Thank you for your advice. I have no idea how my local breeder just uses tap water and doesn't get these issues. Bewildering.
Stressing out over specific neo parameters is pointless as they can adapt to just about anything, but you do want a decent amount of kh. Kh buffers ph, caradina tanks with low ph use and low kh use buffering substrate to keep ph stable. Kh does keeps the ph stable and higher. Honestly it's probably bad shrimp, or some kind of pollutant from something in tank or in water source. Neos are easy to please, and you won't have these kinds of problems with parameters with them, you most likely have something else going on. I obviously don't know the breeder or store you deal with, but being a shrimp specialist really doesn't mean much, 99% of people selling shrimp are just reselling whatever their suppliers ship to them, even many who claim to be breeders simply because the shrimp they picked up at the airport happened to drop some babies while in their possession.
Shrimp look awesome 🤩
Thank you sir 😁👍
Mark I used to breed shrimp like this before I took an arrow to the knee...
Arrow to the knee? How you take an arrow to knee?
With a ring
LMAO

5:18 and now for the cement mixer.. 😂
Lol, it's a cement mixer/paint mixer, also use it to rinse substrate, and mix food lol
Very detailed video...❤

Top ideas. Thank you ❤

I feed mine finsect goldfish pellets. They go bonkers for it. I have 100 plus in a 5g and feed 3 or 4 pinches a day

Muchas gracias por la valiosa información 👍🏼
So bloodmeal flour should work and bone powder maybe. Usually used for plants?
Ahhh no
@@MarkShellyAquaticsok got it.
Whoa what are those blue jelly with the red heads called? I would love to add some to my collection !
Project I've been working on that I really dont talk about lol
@@MarkShellyAquatics Then i’ll definitely be keeping an eye out ;) those are amazing lol
