Great video, I've made my own, but with a stainless kitchen funnel, cake with a stainless strainer big enough to let eggs through. I'm very excited to try this with my white cloud minnows
I just began to breed my CPD last week after I found a live baby in a water change. I didn't know they where breeding that easy. Already I have ~20 babies 🤩 over about 10 days in the experiment. The only thing I don't like about an automatic egg collector is that it doesn't make the difference between eggs, food and 💩 . That small bin at the top becomes disgusting in a matther of hours. I prefer to take a little bit of time each day to get the trap out and sort the eggs out with a small pipette. I glued a plastic stick to it in order to keep my hands dry the whole process. I only need half a drop of 1% metylene blue to make the hatch rate go near 100% These fish breed like crazy. Very fun to watch.
@@kmlumd44 Yeah you are absolutely right. Some people aren't meant to use methalyn. It his too powerfull of a tool for the common man who has to know the rule of tree, mathematics, proportions, dilutions, percentages n'stuff. That's why government had to pass laws over the availability of methalin (especially the green, blue and purple ones) it is a felony in most places to have methaline-G/B/P in your possession. Maybe you will be lucky if you go to the hardware store in the paint department and ask for methalyn-white. It is used as a degreaser but will work on fish eggs to keep fungal based viruses out of there (just add more). The yellow one is better but harder to find. I bought mine from a restaurant who where using it as a disinfectant. No one will sell it to you outright but if you ask the owner to get a small quantity they should be happy to give it (or sell it) to you for about 6$
