I was in my mid-teens and a young adult during the 90s. TLC and the R&B groups and artists of the decade, Madonna, Queen Latifah and Sade - they were all instrumental in the formation of my identity, my sexuality and how I carried myself. I still have that powerful, cool, understated sexiness that's visible but it's not available to everyone. It's contained. Many women of my generation have these same qualities.
TLC is still my favorite girl group. They actually started out really Tom Boyish with baggy clothes of the 90s, but transitioned into a more sexy look for Crazy Sexy Cool, but still kept their funky swag style too. They are a one of kind group, all 3 equally talented in my opinion. They are still the best selling girl group in America today!
Johnny, If there is any group that you MUST go in chronological order with, it is TLC. Their evolution was iconic & truly groundbreaking. Start with “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”.
Not my favorite 3 but 3, I think that show's their variety. Kick Your Game, Unpretty and Creep. I wouldn't choose Unpretty but its a great song nonetheless, for me, I'd swap it with Diggin on You or Baby, Baby, Baby
TLC were one of the greatest groups of all time but the songs written sand produced by Babyface proved the perfect mix. He was and is an absolute genius and couldn't go wrong for many years when it came to songwriting
I watched a recent documentary on the band on A&E with T-Boz and Chili reminiscing on the band's history and planning a concert at UK’s Glastonbury Festival in 2022. I highly recommend watching it for anyone who ever enjoyed any of their songs. T-Boz has had lifelong health problems with sickle cell anemia and later a brain tumor. They go through their boyfriend dramas and being taken advantage of by record company and management so that they won Grammy awards and had no money. But there is happiness as well with Chili having a baby and T-Boz finding love.
