    Me and my friends have been stumped on this for years, we always gave up and ignored it. Somehow setting an icon has been the hardest thing in all of Godot.

      True I wish this was easier too. Maybe this will be adressed in the future, but right now they are (understandably) focused on Godot 4 features.

      Yeah I don't really understand it either. I hope this will become easier with future updates.

      @@martin_senges not sure if there is another way now, but here i am late 2021 and it seems that this is still what you have to do

      @@gargoyled_drake Considering the team is working on Godot 4 I don't expect any changes in the immediate future. To be fair this might not be the most important thing to work on at the moment.

      Yeah I was a bit confused that most tutorials and the official docs gloss over the important stuff (at least important to me) when I was researching this. So I figured this might be helpful to others as well.

    When i don't check the "Embed pck" button, it does not work, but with it checked it works fine, thanks!

    After I ran the 2 commands, the program doesn't run anymore help Edit: It was just an error with the res://paths fixed now.

    I did everything as shown in the video and it still doesnt work. The icon shows up everywhere except for the desktop icon where i actually want it to show up, it just defaults to the Godot icon.

      Does the icon show up in the file manager? Did you update the icon cache of Windows with the commands mentioned at 5:45? Try out both just to be save.

      Doesn't work for me either, I also made sure to export again and then close out of Godot before running the ie4uinit.exe -show thing, also tried the ClearIconCache. Still shows the default Godot icon and none of the Details properties have changed either. Sigh... Thanks for the vid though. Did you use the latest Godot 3.3 in the video?
      EDIT: Looks like you used 3.2.3. Perhaps it doesn't work with 3.3?

      It should work. I just recently uploaded a new version of my game with 3.3. There the icons all work fine as far as I know.
      Edit: If none of the detail properties work, than something seems wrong with the rcedit program you are using (or how you are using it via Godot, maybe wrong path?).

    I did everything right and watched the video again but I have an 8x8 icon that should be 256x256

      If you are using Gimp make sure your different layers for the icon are in the right order as shown in the video.

    why does the cmd window open when opening the game??

      You mean in the video? It's because the video is "old" and therefore I'm using an older version of Godot in it. In 3.5 they changed it so that you don't see the cmd window when starting up the editor by default. This must have also affected the behavior of exported Godot projects.

      The application I use is called Gimp aka GNU Image Manipulation Program.

      You and me both! But I believe at some point after Godot 4 comes out, this might get improved upon/streamlined. Right now there is just too much to do, both in terms of UI (Tilemap) and underlying tech (Vulkan).
