I am all for the extreme unfair brutality that is RimWorld on max difficulty, but just because you feel it has to be difficult, doesn't mean it can't be played in other ways to accomplish other goals. */edit* While I still had a ton of things I wanted to do with this timelapse, the lack of frames and overall game speed made it so I had to end it here. Some of the transitions are not super great, but its kinda hard to plan transitions weeks in advanced and only having one shot at it. I am still super happy with the final result though. "Fun" facts! The map size is 500x500... I would NOT recommend this (more map sizes mod) This was made from 5,937 photos, each of which being 16,000 x 16,000 pixels. A full map photo was taken every single in game hour for ~250 in game days (Using Progress Renderer) The total filesize for all the photos was 167gb The game runs at a beautiful 10 ticks per second on average at 1x speed. The colony has 154 pawns at the time of finishing with a maximum capacity of 320 assuming everybody is in a relationship. At finish, there was only 5 "homeless" wild people that hung around outside food sources. The homeless population was quite a bit higher earlier but quite a few of them have died over the years. @@hausmeisterbanane Oh boy thats a story so Ill make it "short"... it was an absolute nightmare. I had to put all the photos into adobe premier first to combine all the photos into a video format so I could add in transitions and stuff into it. Premier was needed because it seems to be the program with the largest possible output size (8k by 8k, instantly cutting overall quality by 4x), then bringing that video file into sony vegas (my preferred editor) and using that to do the zoom and transitions around the map, then outputting that at 4k for the final verison you see here. I had no idea 16k by 16k files would be such a nightmare to work with but it all worked out in the end so what ever :P

This was really sweet. I like how in it takes advantage of the entire map with villages and road networks, instead of megastrucker that are all stuck at the center.
I have and it is actually useful when you need food for animals. With planted grass they can graze and you dont need to feed them. That is, if you keep them in a pen so that wildlife wont get them. Have had that problem so many times. *_tips hat and leaves_*
The most valuable thing I took away from this video is how to design buildings to be organic and yet orderly without being square. The shapes of your villages are wonderful.
I always find these time-lapses to be very interesting and entertaining. I really enjoy seeing other player's strategies and game play styles but I get kinda bored after watching 20+ hours without playing myself, so cutting it down to a very short watch is really enjoyable to me. It also gives me some fun idea's for my own playthroughs. Not to mention building designs because I can't design a nice looking colony to save my life besides basic cubes and rectangles.
This fucking baffled me. This whole video and style and layout and openness and it being so well planned, it was genuinely off putting at first. In a _good_ _way_ - paradoxically Excellent job with your colony, your clear ability of forethought and planning several outpaces my own. I always get stuck with stagnant and poorly put together rectangle bunkers that never successfully expand and only vaguely look halfway decent. But god damn is it _weird_ without raids
Toxic Timewaster (Ryan123220) It's like you turned Rimword into Banished, which is really amazing because i've never seen Rimworld played like this and it looks surprisingly cool.
And I wouldn't recommend it unless you really have powerful cores (4ghz) because this game is poorly optimized. It will become a crawl. Well or you have the patience of a saint
Me with like six pawns: Well you would get a minor bonus if you were to move the butchers table to the storage rooms because you wouldn't need to instantly clean up the animal guts.

Especially later, your new building really feel like Prison Architect with various rooms and a "common room" that has dining / pool table and seating area around a TV. :) Looks great.
Im so use to making mega city blocks I never really thought of spreading my colonist throughout the map and making mini villages within a bigger map. I suppose its just easier and more cost effective to defend one giant multi layered structure then several smaller ones, but I think this video just gave me an idea for my next playthrough.
I mean, I managed to hunt everything that wasn't human into extinction, there wasn't even a rat left and I started raiding other settlemets just to pillage and get food, but this one takes the meaning of a rimworld base to the next level
Rimworld is that game where you will sink 30-100 hours of consistent gameplay, then leave it for a month or two, only to come back and repeat the cycle

I always have 4-5 pawns who are essentially Soviet conscripts: if the situation calls for it, they're gonna be the first ones to die.
