Never seen an example with an "ENGLAND" title above it,which raises suspicion that it may be a fantasy piece manufactured before details of the actual bfc insignia was known.

I’ve read a lot about the Britisches Freikorps (British Free Corps) and have seen nothing that would make me believe the patch to be designed to be worn on the uniform. Quite possibly it’s been cut from an armband but, from everything I’ve seen, the Union Jack shield worn by the BFK was embroidered and without the word “England”

This is absolute rubbish! If you go online and check the Hermann Historica online-catalogue ''The Dave delich collection Part 3'' the item is listed as number 1337. It had a reserve price of €350 and Mr Fisher purchased it for €480 this is a fact! I was at the auction and nobody showed the slightest bit of interest in this as it's well known to be a complete fake! It's also interesting to note here that Mister Fisher has the audacity to claim the photograph of Minchin and Berry wearing the M43 uniform with the real Shields as a 50's fake because they look nothing like the forgery he has for sale!
How dare regimentals make out that the photo is fake. It most definitely is not. To discredit evidence of contemporary images of the insignia is fundamental to our understanding of history.. They don't care about history. Just wanting to make a quick buck. This comment will most likely be removed by regimentals. Fantasy badge for £ 3500 .
A 7+ times mark up when sold is some pretty serious margin. When people enter auctions with the sole purpose to make massive financial gains without being a real collector it just ruins the community for all. Greed has taken over this hobby a long time ago.
Items often under scrutiny don't have photograph reference. Sadly I wouldn't put my trust into this object until the community agrees its legit, or research proves so. These could be easily faked!!

Also - that patches looks very different to the ones shown on the original uniforms in photographs. Very suspect! Why would you call the unit British Freikorps and then put England on it. Britain is made up of England, Ireland ., Scotland and Wales. Hence that's why the original just had the union jack on it . I wouldn't touch it!

It's 100% fake and Delich knew that which is why he never exhibited it and why Hermann Historica didn't have the cheek to put a higher price on it other than €350

What a load of complete BS, if this was real it would have gone for a massive amount money at the auction this was bought at, given how much items were all going for at that auction it shows that this is fake, also to say that photo is fake is also complete BS but guess what, it fits your narrative for your sale (which you've marked up by 7 times what you bought it for!) buyer be very VERY aware.
There are only handful of photos like the one of Minchin and Berry wearing the correct shield! (funny that he says that is a fake photo though doesn't it?)
@@1220b could you please enlighten me? I've been a collector Allgemeine and Waffen SS memorabilia for over 30 years! I have never seen or heard of any British Free corps uniform or documentation being discovered? I'm also on several forums and I've never heard anyone mention original items from the British Free corps ever existing after the war!
An original tunic with insignia which was used in the trial of the New Zealander member of the BFC, ended up with the accused. He went to live in New Zealand. In the 1970s it was lent for a school theatre production. It was then lost. I personally think its still sitting somewhere in NZ. Given the right research of the school, pupils or teachers might narrow down what happened to it.. This badge for sale is nothing but a 1950s german made hiking badge...

You're totally right! They were told politely to **** *** when they offered their services to a certain German SS Commander, nobody would touch them with a barge-pole they were pure propaganda. Probably a bit more than six but no more than 20 members, mostly inmates of prisoner of war camps who joined purely to have some fun with prostitutes and get a better grub!
If that is a genuine piece, then 3500 pounds would be to low if original. (some sort of science testing needed, no- i dont know how or what type to prove age etc) If it turned out to be genuine, then the piece should absolutely be purchased by the british museum.
If that's original then I'm the King of England! That item sold for €480 exactly, plus auction fees of 29.5% how do I know all this useless information? Because I was there bidding on authentic items in the collection! This was one of the very last items in the auction and there was a good reason why? Nobody was interested!
The item was sold for €480 to Mr Fisher on the 6th of November 2024 nobody else had the slightest interest in this forgery it was one of the last items to be sold! I see he's got it on his website at £3,500 so he's going to make a tidy profit for some poor mug? I bet you don't make that kind of money do you?

To see if its real check it against an orginal uniform in the national archives . Mark Felton did a post on the BFC and the uniform is in his post.
