Highway 61 is known as the "Blues Highway." Many blues legends were born and worked not too from there in the Mississippi delta. The blues stretch covers LA, MS, AR and mostly MS. There is a famous crossroad, it is suppose to be at the intersection of Highways 61 and 49. Legend has it that the father of the blues Robert Johnson made a pact with the devil there to play the bluesiest of all guitars. He wrote a song called "Crossroads." "Juke joints" (dilapidated wooden bars and shacks for music) used to line Highway 61 mostly in Mississippi. Don't know if any still exists. Bob Dylan had an album "Highway 61 Revisited" many years ago. The highway extends to his home state of MN, but the blues segment is just in the southern states already mentioned along the delta and cotton fields. Eric Clapton and others have covered "Crossroads." There used to a big annual blues festival on 61 and I don't know if it is still going, but many blues enthusiast still make a pilgrimage to Highway 61.
Used to live on Highway 61 in the Mississippi Delta in the town of Leland. Indeed a great musical heritage in the region, though a little thin on trains. CN has their north-south mainline through Greenwood and the Columbus and Greenville is a local east-west shortline between Greenwood and Greenville.

I dug it when I 1st heard it in '71 as a kid, still do. As fantastic and gifted slide guitarist Johnny was he paid homage to the area as his inspiration early on in his career. I have to make the pilgrimage down there before I get too old. It's a sacred magical place to me. Plus it's probably the only way I'll get to see Kenny Brown play! God Bless America and the great State of Mississippi.
Springsteen also made a reference to it in a song called “Reason to Believe” on his dark 1982 acoustic album “Nebraska”. “Got his car door flung open, standing out on Highway 61. Like if he stood there long enough, that dog’ed get up and run”.

Isn’t Norfolk southern now CN? Just got my long awaited surgery done Shoe! Be tuning in every day now while recovering. Grew up around mile 0 of Alaska Highway just outside Whitecourt, Alberta. Lots of history (and swamps) from that end. Athabaska and McLeod rivers meet there as well.

Hwy 61 follows the Mississippi River through Iowa - goes through Davenport and Dubuque. Does not go to Chicago. Love your channel and hope for good test results.
And there is some great railfanning along Highway 61 in Iowa. In addition to those locations you have Fort Madison with the BNSF bridge across the Mississippi and the UP-CP interchange in Clinton Iowa in addition to DVN and DBQ.
Could be long haulers from covid 19, no one feels the same after having it, seriously makes me wonder if it weren't being weaponized but that's neither here or there i havnt felt good since and I stay active, I've noticed way more joint pain especially in my hands knees and feet, I travel at least a mile every day on foot usually 2 but, im not getting back to what I once was im 53 and this is not normal

Mimosa trees are magnolia are my two favorite trees. The chocolate mimosa are really pretty. Chocolate colored leaves with the pink blooms are really nice.
I love both of those trees too in fact i have a little gem and braken brown beauty and it is blooming right now, in the winter tho I do have to build a mini green house around it this is ohio you know. mimosa grow around here sporaticaly, a few spots seem to be warm enough for them, just not my yard.
@@rosesmith6208 for some reason I cannot grow anything in my yard. All trees and flowers die but the grass grows fine. I have 1 chocolate mimosa left and it's dying.😒 I've planted so many trees and flowers. I did put in a wall in front of my house. Dirt was hauled in and so far, the hydrangeas, phlox and dead nettles are doing good so I think it's my soil. IDK 🤷♀️
@@LelaE34 dying branch by branch? some branches have no leaves while others do? have you given epsom salts to the plants? have you considered some kind of pest chewing on the roots system perhaps? do you test soil ph? these are some ideas of what to look for, me I am losing a carolina allspice bush that I had 15 years it is doing the same thing slowly dying, cant use pesticides because I have chickens and they like to scratch around and hide under the bushes.

One of my favorite trees. They close up at night and in case of fire. The blooms are works of art.

Hwy 61 was the routetaken by many of the original blues musicians on their migration from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago.
