      Yes, you must be able to defy physics to be a deli clerk. It's a requirement.

      I want a half pound of roasted turkey sliced paper thin with paper between each slice.

    I started a new job today in a deli and was asked to do this after watching one person once. I felt pressured to do it because it was my first day, but I don't think that was legal the more I think about it.

      I just started deli dept. Like 3 & half weeks ago i wasn't scared to try the slicer but i did lil bad at first until the guy beside me was showin me how to do it only took me 3 tries & you just get into the feeling of it i love slicing them meats & cheeses kinda relaxes me it cuts so good haha & smooth the best feeling is when I i get that thick perfect slice & show it to the customer if thats how thick or thin they want it they tell me perfect

    • @grey59s
      @grey59s 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if your employer asked you to watch this on your own time and it was NOT paid. yeah, that's super illegal.

    • @Nikohere
      @Nikohere 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@grey59s That's why they train you themselves because they don't know if you watched it at home or not & them paying you for no reason. That's why thry have you train there at the store you'll be workin at or at another store where there's someone there to moniter you & other trainees that also might be workin with you or for another store for a certain dept. Just saying. But they didn't have me watch any video they just trained me at the store right there in deli

    • @grey59s
      @grey59s 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Niko here- i worked at capriottis when i was 18 and they specifically asked everyone to watch hours of training videos before their first day! i don't care enough to go to a lawyer, but just saying. it still happens, it happened to me at jcpenneys, too. the cops came n talked to the manager n everything. she got what she deserved. lol!!

      Funny I’m responding to your comment when it was posted 5 years ago but I work at the publix deli and we leave a little bit of the plastic on so we can keep the sticker of the date it was opened on so we know if a meat goes bad.

    In Vons Tarzana they throw you in there to the dely (your first day) they don’t do provide you a training, specially with this scaring machines, they expect you to watch other workers how they do it, for this machine, oil machine and fried ckicken machine, they should have a Supervisor to train their NEW EMPLOYEES!!

      Is it easy to slice your finger I'm about to start

    • @garygarner3252
      @garygarner3252 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nathanfisk4054 it's really easy too slice your fingers. If you feel uncomfortable just ask your manager too help guide you through the processes and in no time it will become ingrained but just don't get over confident and always pay attention too what you are doing and be aware of other coworkers around you. Just remember that the slicer dosen't care what it is slicing and that your fingers and hands are just a piece of meat. Just be cautious at all times and you'll do just fine. Working in the deli is sometimes fast paced but take your time and be safe. And always ask questions about anything you are unfamiliar with. Hope this helps out some.

The company that I work for didn't tell me for over a month that I needed too complete this online training so I had two hours too catch up on a month and half of online training. I'm looking for a new job. This deli crap is not for me. Once I get a new car I'm out. I'm a custom knife and sword maker, I'm a welder and fabricator, I'm a medical tech, I'm a data communications installer, a security guard. My resume goes on and on. And this morning some fuk tard customer said I didn't place his shaved turkey flat enough on the paper. Fucking really. I'm going back into welding. The company that I work for now got bought out. And it's a shame. And they expect me too be nice .... Nope. I don't kiss ass for money.

    General Manager here in Beautiful Montreal, Quebec
    I would have no problem firing this guy - in a heartbeat he would be escorted out the door on the spot.
    Watch as he just tosses the most important part of the machine to the floor with total disregard for safety.
    PLEASE FOLKS, do take every care to place the POWER CORD in a safe place, do not just toss it aside as seen in the video. The next time someone goes to use the machine could be electrocuted.
    Shame on you for not showing newbies proper care and the RESPECT these machines deserve
    I'd fire you on-the-spot
