Personally I like the captions because my wife doesn’t want to listen to the You Tube channels I like. I know I could listen thru headphones, but they are not always convenient. They are distracting somewhat when you are trying to see equipment details, etc. But overall👍
I'm a fan of your videos, but I never watched TikTok, I mean YTshorts, but I've watched some of yours (really liked the ones w/Blue Jean Cables - I've bought some of their cables & think they're great value, especially the HDMI cables). And though I enjoy your channel, I'm not fan of the new, follow the bouncing ball style of video captions. Find myself keep clicking the CC button trying to turn them off.
Thanks for the feedback...it's a concern, but the current stats show that 80% of people watching videos on their phone do so with the sound turned off. Thus, it's an equation of trade-offs... No CC...Give people better CC than TH-cam...or lose the ability for them to watch the video and get anything out of it without sound. I'll try it for awhile and then pivot if your impressions are the majority. It's definitely a PITA for me to do, so I would be happy if those stats are wrong. Unfortunately, there are tons of people (especially younger viewers) who don't watch any video nowadays without high level, visually attractive captions, so it's a catch 22.
I meant no offense. I understand, just thought I'd mention it. TikTok is for kids who all seem afflicted with ADD. You & Guttenberg are my top 2 channels. I like Darko too, except for his taste in music - I don't get that EDM stuff. :) @@AudiophileJunkie
No offense taken...I welcome the feedback... I just like to share all the variables in the equation to let you know the formula is difficult to solve for everybody. We'll see how it goes for awhile. The litmus test for me was recently trying to watch a video review of the re-released Musical Fidelity A-1 amp (which I owned the original back in the 1980s). I was at lunch sitting at a bar and couldn't turn the sound up. The reviewers were just sitting on a couch talking about the piece but I had no clue what they were saying and YT close captions are very primitive. Thus, I decided to give this a try based on my own preferences being a viewer versus content creator.
What did you think of the beolab 90 speakers from bang and olufsen booth? They have been doing active loudspeaker for a long time. They have great room calibration software built into there speakers. Allows for a lot of sweet spot calibration.
Cool intro .. =) and the closed caption wording is not always correct... 3:17 .. it writes CD .. instead of a name like CEDIA. Something to note. I've seen others use this tech.. and it's not accurate. same exact mistake when saying " CEDIA " .
Yeah...The caption AI is not perfect, but far better than TH-cam AI...I'll do more manual review in the future. The key is just making sure anyone watching without the sound gets a good understanding of what they hear and in a more visually friendly format that TH-cam's CC. Glad you like the intro...Wait until you see the next intro option...it's pretty darn good, but of course a professional did it....unlike the one in this video which was 100% me.
Is there a way you can incorporate your captions into the youtube system so I can shut them OFF? Gotta say I find them really annoying. Sorry it's an audiophile channel, we use our ears.
No way to shut them off yet, but I'll likely use them mostly in videos where just talking and there's nothing much to get distracted from. I'll see how things go.
I have a home video coming up next! It's Linkwitz I know the captions can be polarizing. Thanks for the feedback. The advantage in captions is that it will help when the video is just a person talking (like myself) so there's nothing else to look at...or... at shows or tours like Inakustik where it's hard to hear the person talking with all the background noise. I'll find a compromise for it after getting feedback like yours.

The captions are annoying.
RE Watch time. Can TH-cam detect when I just can or jump ahead or is it actual linear watch time,
I'm sure it's based on actual watch time.
