    I’d love to hear your answers to the rapid fire questions from The Financial Diet podcast, the financial confessions! What is the financial secret of your industry? What are you cheap about vs what do you splurge on? What is something that doesn’t cost anything that is bringing you joy?

    I’d love to hear how you chose your financial advisor! What questions did you ask her? When I hear someone is making a commission it makes me nervous that they might select a product because of the commission rate rather than because it is the best fit for you. I’d love to hear more on that.

    I LOVE THIS! And I hope you make this into a series! Honestly, I’m in college right now and trying to make myself more independent and financially stable, but my family sees talking about money as very taboo so I’m trying to learn so much on my own and honestly this video has been SO HELPFUL. This is such a great idea and I’m so happy I can turn to your channel to learn a thing or two that will help overall better my quality of life 😭💕

    Love this! Want part 2! You should do a series with this as a base & then each one next be a specific topic of money. Questions, was there a other banks you had looked at before you decided on these? Does you credit card do the cash back on certain purchases or have you ever considered it? If there was one thing you could've told yourself when you started out on earning what would you say? What is one thing everyone should do in your opinion?

    Wish there is a love button! Nobody really tells me advice about managing money besides if you don't have money coming in, don't spend at all (which being a student and living outside of the home isn't very realistic....) I got saving down, but only in the basic sense... Looking forward to more videos like this!

  • @loytoco

    I live in Italy, and here having 7 bank accounts would basically cost you your income in expenses ahahah
    I am glad you're finding your way into money management; I think you are doing it well and many people could benefit from your suggestions. I don't have any specific question, but would watch a part two, gladly!

    • @DestanyShelton
      @DestanyShelton 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dancing Queen Queen I’m moving to Italy in a year and a half! When you say having multiple bank accounts would cost you your income what do you mean? How much are the expenses for one bank account? Thanks so much!

    • @loytoco
      @loytoco 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DestanyShelton Mine was a hyperbole, but it would still be something noticeable at the end of the year, even more so considering here salaries are much lower, generally. I would say that something between 80-120 euros per year would be the norm for a bank account. If you do a lot of money transfer and you don't have that for free (you usually don't) you will have to pay a fee each time (it could be 2 euros, it could be 5).
      However, it really depends on what you want from your bank account. We also don't have the differences between checking accounts and savings accounts, at least not for "normal" bank accounts. Deposit accounts exist. Every bank makes their own rules, and you may pay for every transaction you do, or for some. Also, price for the same operation may differ from one bank to another. An online banking account with an online-only bank would be cheap, more or less a couple of euros per month and you usually get most operations free. However, that is not an account I would advise you to open for a business for example, at least not as primary account for a business, but maybe THAT could be a secondary accout to open for daily transactions, since most are free.
      Then you pay an additional fee for your credit card, an additional fee for your debit card, etc.
      Being an expat, you may need to transfer money back and forth from your country, so you need to check how much THAT would cost with your bank, and if it is available (online-only banks, for example, don't always offer that).
      If you are moving here for work, I advise you to ask your work place to indicate you a good financial advisor to know how to move (You don't have to hire them, just have a talk with them to know your perspectives, as a one-time thing). Be sure they're not sending you to a bank employee, since he/she would obviously only advise you to open the account with their bank.
      Sometimes, businesses have agreements with some banks (and also insurances, ask for that) so that you would have cheaper deals.
      It sounds worse than it is, but I still think that having 7 banks accounts here would make a noticeable difference, even more so at the beginning of a business venture. I am glad for Michel it works out for her, though.

    This video is sooo helpful. Nobody talked to me about money when I was growing up either and I'm trying to learn as much as I can now in my mid-20s. I am on my way to self-employment as well (woo-hoo!), so it's nice to learn about how others manage their money. Thank you for always being transparent and vulnerable with your audience. It is so relatable and helpful!

    Ugh - I'm so happy you and others are talking about this! We need to eliminate the shame in all things money. Have you heard of YNAB (You Need a Budget)? I rarely even look at my bank accounts now because YNAB helps me mentally put my money in the "pots" you're using separate bank accounts for. I love it!

    Investing would be a great part 2 topic! I am lost when it comes to that. I have a simple IRA through my employer where 3% of my income goes into it each month and my employer matches it. Besides that, I don't really know how to use it or what I'm financially supporting. From an ethical perspective, it's important to me to know how I vote with my dollar. LOL, writing this out feels like some personal accountability to follow up!

    Part 2 yes!! I like Dave Ramsey. I don’t agree with him about credit cards though. I treat mine as if it were coming from my bank account and ALWYAS pay it off in full. And it’s much safer to pay with a credit card than a debit card if your card or information is stolen. 💕
