Dude, thank you. Seriously one of the best breakdown tutorials I've seen on any repair! I'm an old fart chemical engineer who prefers to fix vs replace and 95% of the time prefer to do the work myself....so I've done my share of repairs and viewed many such tutorials. I'll definitely subscribe as I like your laid back, logical approach. You do a great job of putting in the appropriate knowledge (e.g. testing the brushless motor) so that someone who may not know can learn and better appreciate what's going on. Your skill set is evaporating in our day. Keep it going!
getting ready to do this myself Thank you for the video. I'm going to just start off with the wire harness replacement. I'll tear it apart once the new harness is delivered!
EGO is my choice for electrics. I have their original mower, the blower that preceeds that model you fized, the original chainsaw version and original larger sized string trimmer. It not up to pro level chainsaw, wacker, backback blower standards, but still quite good. HAPPY NEW YEAR SCOTT!
We wanted to sell Ego at the shop but I guess we are too close to someone already selling. That didn't stop them from asking us to fix their stuff so maybe we'll see more on the channel. Happy new year to you!
@@TheGreasyShopRag yeah but this video saved me a lot of money. I’ve never messed with electronics on really anything but I got it working so I have this video to thank.
ask yourself WHY? otherwise it will just keep repeating. I am not bothering to take mine apart and go through all that to replace a fuse so it happens again and again. EGO needs to recall all these blowers and update a fix for these boards. this is nonsense
@@TheGreasyShopRag Thanks for the reply. Yes, I got the part number from your video which is for the assembly, but only saw you replace the module and was hoping you had a source. Order is on the way.
Question on 445 Husqvarna bar oil vent. Having trouble finding quality information. Think it’s behind chain plate. Some say it has a duckbill others don’t. After turned off it continually leaks from several places. Oils probably, but seems to keep building pressure while just sitting. I think I found an IPL showing a duck bill with screen under bar plate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks friend, do you know how much sleep you’re going to cause me. Thanks for a great video that I’ve been waiting for. Take care and have a great new year.
@@TheGreasyShopRag I’m learning and when you give me things I need to know that’s great. I’ve rewound an old circular saw. Sprayed the windings. Done a lot of things but never knew about touching wires together. You can never be bored , unless YOU decide to be. Yes I enjoy the trade. Take care.
I guess the proper answer involves the battery system a person has or wants to get in to. The latest units we sell are getting into the 600+ cfm range. Run time stinks for all of them despite what the packaging may say.
WHY DID THE FUSE BLOW? replacing a fuse without diagnosing the problem is like getting a cavity and asking why you got one and then never brushing your teeth.
So how did you make this a warranty claim? I've had mine for about 3 years and now it wont do anything. Battery is good, checked motor and it is good also. Have no idea where my original receipt is...thinking it must be the control circuit.
The customer contacted Ego, confirmed warranty status, and was given our information along with paperwork that basically said we could repair it if it was manufacturer defects. I don't make the actual claims with the manufacturers so I don't know any more than that.
OK Right to it...Fuses blow for a reason...question is WHY...that is never discussed. I keep reading comments in Amazon and other forums where blower was working find and then stops. Mine also did the same after using everyday for 30 minutes and after 30 days dead. Without taking it apart I already know its a fuse. Question is why is a $300 item blowing a fuse on a simple freaking blower. THe circuitry is NOT designed properly. Either not big enough capacitor for the spike in power and load or something else but clearly this will keep happening so whats the point of replacing the fuse only for it to reoccur at random
@@sirwrenchalot I always hold the turbo down the entire time and it lasted about 30 days that way. The timing of how it died was interesting though. I hadn't used it that day, put a fully charged battery in and only lasted a few seconds after turning on and then DEAD. So if it was the turbo issue you think it would have happen during that operation after 15 minutes or so...either way faulty design. The next 1 I just bought was from Lowes and it will cover the 1 year warranty...Amazon is not authorized dealer...dont buy it from there unless you want to try it and send it back
@@AD-hs4cw trust me I did the same thing, got a new one and the warranty. You know it’s fucked when the help line knows exactly what happens and says your screwed. Like nice 👍🏼 if it wasn’t so good I’d spend 300 dollars somewhere else lol

nothing was sorted out other than replacing a fuse...ok have fun doing that repeatedly.

Yes location is correct. Its a duckbill valve covered by a bronze sintered filter. Maybe its plugged up with schmutz.
@@TheGreasyShopRag thanks, Santa didn’t bring clutch removal tool. Now to look for local dealers. I like purchasing the correct tool for the job.
To test the blower motor, could you have connected it directly to the battery to see if it would spin?
If it was a two wire brushed motor then I could have.
