Hi Mick, one thing you didn't mention, is that without the side pouches on, you can close the zips on each side to reduce the pack if need be, in the front pocket on mine i have my full crusader kit + a metal mug on top of the 58 patt
cracking bargain btw,
have fun, be happy,
Barry
Great feedback Barry, yes I did forget to mention that, thanks for pointing it out...
Has anyone told you the dpm bergen is not waterproof
No, but thank you for the info, much appreciated....
Cheers Simon, great feedback...
This pack puts me in mind of my ALICE pack but nicely updated
just watched you vid on the military rucksack costing a pound from a car boot. i get all my military kit from car boots, Two main reasons why, price people are giving them away alot of the time, and you see what your getting for your money. You're are very good videos by the way.
Excellent video Mick and what an incredible bargain!
Greetings from Poland :) I just got one of these. Not for a pound, something like 10 but it was a great buy I think. It's time for my ALICE L to retire for sure, or at least to give her some rest finally... I love it, I mean ALICE, but this one is really, really well made and and it looks like it's going to stay with me for a looong time. It's used, cammo lost its colours long time ago, it was in a filed ,but overall all is working fine. I'm taking it for a 80 mil walk in our mountains next month (can't wait). One thing, is it 90 liters with rocket pouches or without? Mine was sold to me as 65L plus 10Lx2. Great review and I will stay around to watch your videos ;) All the best :) BTW one of my rocket pouches is dated 1994 and it looks like it's from this backpack, the other one is in better condition (camo) but there is no date visible anymore. So I think, looking at the camouflage colour of the pack, that mine is from early 90s. Apart camo it's in great condition.
Thank you for your comment, yes it's a great backpack, which I'm sure will bring you lots of use...enjoy
100l plus 2x10l
Great find Mick... quality bit of kit for a quid
Where da hell are all these carboot sales where a nearly new Bergen go for a quid!?! Bloody hell
Yes, I was very lucky on this occasion... the bargains are out there, just need to find them.
great review mick , great pack what a bargain . all the best mate
Thanks Les, Im going to enjoy using this bergen I think...
Nice review, even after 8 year. Thanks! :)
Ya scored there Mick, for a quid, nice one. i got mine on Ebay for £38. still got a helluva bargain though, as i dont think the person selling realised that it was a custom Dropzone one worth around £350. Oh i did laugh. i have a few issues with it mind i must say, but im comparing it to my Sabre so its never gonna win, but ya right in what you sat, UK kit is solid, robust and dirt cheap. Nice one mate. enjoy your pound lol
I'll be honest I havent had much dealings with the engineers Bergen. Thank you for your feedback...
Hi. I’m late to the game here. I have the new Virtus mkIII GU10 burgun, which is good, but tbh, I much prefer the ‘Engineers Burgun’ or as it known the ‘Turtleback’, with side pockets. Loads of room, and a lot comfier to carry once loaded up. It’s my go to winter wild camp burgun, for carrying more insulation.
‘Travel Light, Freeze at night’.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
Thanks Kenny, yes it was a great price for such a quality piece of kit...Lucky Me !
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated...
Yes, I was lucky to find such a bargain and a great rucksack too. Thanks for your comment.
1 pound what a bargain mate ,,, great review ,,,all the best kenny
Great comment there, thank you "Enjoy your pound" ha ha, liked that one ! The bargains are out there. Thanks again for your feedback...
Really good review. You could just about use that as a shelter and such a bargain. Thanks again for your review.
Thanks Albert, I think I prefer the short version too...
Where did you get 90 litres capacity from? I've not heard that before. I've seen these advertised as 100 litre minus the side pouches. Longback and shortback are equal capacity - at least in the designer's theory. The 95 Patt PLCE Patrol Pack is marked as 30 litre - but I've tested that and it's far more.
It's difficult to know what marketing to believe - and if NPL (National Physical Laboratory) have ever tested capacity, they almost certainly wouldn't reveal results to anyone but the company that requested the tests.
I've had mine 20 years and it's still going strong. They are very robust.
Cheers Gary, the bargains are out there for the likes of us to snap up...
Can't believe you got that for a pound Mick. That's crazy. Imagine what i payed to get one to Denmark. 100 £!
Btw mate, since there is no difference between the long back and the short back other than length, i think you're better of just referring to it in the video as "PLCE bergen/rucksack".
Cracking review mate.
You lucky Lad picking that up for 1 pound asking price. I hope you gave him a bit more than that ?
Your comment alone, says it all...Cheers
nice job on the bergen i prefer the short back myself great buy mate alb
These are good Mick, good review and what a bargain too :)
Best Wishes.....Les.
Just got mine today! Mine was quite a lot more than a pound. More like 50.. but not complaining its a damned fine bit of kit! One question what is the yoke for?
if its the yoke i think your talking about its to convert the side pouchs into a smaller pack
Could you please give us an up date on the WEBTX bergen and if it's worth buying ? Does it hold up as well as the army bergen, and would you ever buy another one from webtex ?
Where to buy this bag I need thirty liters but I want to buy a new one
Yep, its a great bag indeed and Im looking forward to putting it through its paces. 5ft 5 ??? You look a lot taller on camera... Cheers Jason
Where I could get the side pouches seperately in MTP?
😍😍🤗🤗🤭🤭 LOVE IT. 👍 I WANT ONE OF THOSE 😞🤭😘 THX FOR TO SHARE 👊
The two loops you've put you're belt through are for parachutists to attach it properly :)
Trust me, they aren't.
Yes very pleased with my bargain purchase...
I wasn't aware of that, thank you...
Ich liebe diesen Rucksack.. Er ist der beste der Welt, wie ich finde!
Thanks Mo...
Thanks, Just picked one of theses up.
Was it off me, I just sold mine on ebay...
No I don't think so.
Thank you, yes its a good size...
Really nice man!
hahahahaahah a pound that must me the steal of the century well done great find
If I wouldn't have my Berghaus Atlas… that would be a good option. The Bergen has bigger side pouches xD
1 pound - almost a present.
How did you get that for a £1? have you no shame?
Thank you...
Jeez, for a quid I'd have been tempted to strip it for parts and fabric lol.
Its wider than long back also
Cheers...
what a bargain mike £1.00 wish I was that lucky
What is the difference in the DPM and PLCE ?
hi, DPM is the actual pattern of the camo. PLCE is the system of webbing used. Hope this makes sense.
Personal Load Carrying Equipment
DPM = Disruptive Pattern Material (Style of camouflage)
PLCE = Personal Load Carrying Equipment (Soldier's pouch/pack system)
90 Pattern PLCE is green
95 Pattern PLCE is largely exactly the same but in DPM
