Interesting. I'll be in the PI at the end of the year for 4 months and will be based in two locations during that time. However, I will be taking a few days here and a few days there to get an idea what's available out there. My following trip to the PI in 2025-2026 could look much different, or not at all. We'll see. I will certainly be following your journey, though. Thanks for sharing!
Bacolod is ok better than Iloilo, but your #! Gereral Santos is good, I hear produce is cheap there and best part if you love fish ? you get unlimited fish especially Tuna at cheap price
The best cities to live are clairmont in Clark airbase, Alabang Filinvest in M.Manila, Nuvali Sta. Rosa, triboa Subic, Puerto Princesa , probably Iloilo If there's a bridge to Guimaras. These are the best cities to live.
have you included housing in your criteria (beyond your big 3)? Didn’t know if there is much difference given the size of these places. Will be following you on this next trip to see what you find.
do you have advice to other Canadians how to leave Canada? Canadian address for Canadian banks? Canadian phone#?, did you sell everything to satisfy CRA? etc
I don’t disagree with you. I’m on the hunt for places that foreigners haven’t yet taken over, then I go local as much as I can and try to have conversations.
Bacolod city, needs to develop and rehabilitates punta tay and add a 12 miles open beach front like pattaya, it would complete a city to be a top for expat
Good point. I expected to hate Duma, but I really loved it. I just think it’s overdone by foreigners now. If you need many foreigners , it’s a good choice, behind Davao for foreigner contacts.
Having a tertiary hospital is important too.

I would really appreciate to find a small city that has sufficient sidewalks to feel safe from getting too close to passing traffic.

It’s important for sure, but haven’t done that work yet. Maybe I’ll find some agents and view some this next run.
Hey, when will you upload your next blog?

Yes, Bacolod. My hometown Negros Occidental which I miss. Looks like you know your way around the Phils.
I really loved Bacolod people and how city is so welcoming.
Top criteria for me would be a cooler climate than, say, a city like Manilla. Valencia is at the top of my wishlist

It’s one of my favourite places…. Easy to ferry to Iloilo or bus back to Duma for access to Bohol and siqiour,,,,
🎉🎉🎉 great 😃
It's funny how you can have 10 different vloggers with 30 different locations 😅
Lived in tagbilaran for a year... it's a hole in the wall. i respect your perspective but... Nah!
I would say the cebu area
I would have agreed awhile ago, the more I stay here, the more I like smaller cities, but still have my needs.
You'll be eating a lot of tuna in Gen San.
How about Duma?
