Pretty courageous for a country artist to protest the Vietnam War when Cash did it. He'll always have my respect for that.
"Each week we lose a hundred fine young men." 1971 and the Vietnam War was going full bore.
I'm not a big country music guy, but if I hear someone say they don't like Johnny Cash, I know that's not a person I want to be around for very long.
Yea Johnny is special I love his music
Same, not a country music fan but Johnny has IT. Can't not hear his songs and not think and feel deep.
Could you please do a reaction to my favorite Johnny Cash song called Sing it pretty, Sue'..thank you
I suspect that people who say that they don’t like Johnny Cash, probably have never really listened to very much of his music.
I don't care for most country. Johnny was one of my exceptions ❤
As a kid growing up in New York I was obsessed with Johnny Cash. I dressed in black a lot for many years because of him. He changed country music because he was multicultural. He sang for everyone.
Johnny was the man
The line Johnny sings: "Each week we lose a hundred fine young men." Is a reference to the Viet Nam War. It is obvious that he really connects with the audience as they give a round of applause when he sings it.
This song was written over 40 years ago and is just as relevant today as it was then.
Johnny understood what was going on in the world. He wanted change and sent his message in the form of music. I believe Johnny was a messenger of God and gave all of us a forewarning.
I just wish people were singing this kind of music today. I'm 61 years old and I can tell you that we need those words now more than ever.
Johnny also performed at prisons a few times. He had empathy for others, which by the way doesn't have to equate with religion, and it showed through his music and his actions.
"He always touches people's souls" Exactly! Love your reaction. I'm a lifelong Johnny Cash fan
We need good messages, and reject the bad ones. The people need love in their hearts. Great reaction.
Glsd you enjoyed
Johnny was an incredible songwriter and performer. You can't classify him, he was a very unique musician. We really lost a great one when he passed.
Yea he was def one of a kind I can see that def
Such an important song! Remember Vietnam and all the Veterans!
Johnny Cash was one cool dude.
Live at Folsom Prison is one for the books. An extraordinary album.
I highly recommend
"Folsom Prison Blues" &
"Cocaine Blues"
Peace Out 😊✌
More Johnny to come stay tuned
No matter were your from you can never hate johnny cash.
Johnny Cash wrote powerful songs, many fun songs too, and he always delivered appropriately with a booming voice.
Love Johnny he always has a deep message
My dad loved Johnny Cash, and the older I get the more I appreciate the music he loved so much...♡
Johnny was def the man
My parents love Johnny Cash, I'm the same been listening to JC for about 10 years now. His an amazing singer and such a cool guy.
Something I don't think many people know, Johnny Cash was married to June Carter Cash. The family has deep generational roots in American Folk Music, Bluegrass, Country, Southern Gospel, and Rock musicians. They were a driving force on the U.S. Folk Revival of the 60's. And Johnny and June's children are very successful artists also. Rosanne Cash is very popular in the country community, I recommend a video of Johnny and June singing together "JOHNNY CASH, JUNE CARTER CASH - JACKSON (THE BEST OF JOHNNY)"
Thanks for the information
Facts. Country music as an industry owes much to the Carter family, A.P. Carter in particular. The Bristol Sessions in the 1920's were some of the earliest recordings of country music, the Carter family being among the first. A.P. Carter is the uncle of June Carter Cash.
My Momma introduced me to Cash. I don't really listen to country but the old school, including Dolly Parton, are in a league of their own. This was the first song of his I heard. Momma knew how to hook me! Thank you for sharing young man! 😽💋🎶
Johnny wrote this song during the Vietnam War.
Johnny was the man
Johnny Cash had a rough life. He grew up in desperate poverty, did prison time, and fought drug addiction. He's been some of these people he sang about.
Oh wow I didn’t know any of this about Johnny that’s wild
2 of those are correct but Johnny never served any sort of prison sentence. The most he ever did was overnight stays in a holding cell, most notable was his time in Starkville, Mississippi for picking flowers (according to Cash).
@@uselessinformation3634 It was Merle Haggard that did time in San Quentin. Cash had often said, "Merle was the guy people thought I was".
@@dianemorris5816 ...but what Johnny did tho was to perform live for prisoners, which was a beautiful act of compassionate humanity...
@@persephone1062 And fabulous hard-core honky-think.
This is him writing and singing this song in 1971. The lyrics mean a little more if you remember that the Viet Nam war didn't end until 1975. Those hundreds dead each week are the young soldiers coming back in body bags. This was Johnny's anti-war song. His statement. His stand. Like Ali, who 3 only years earlier had made his anti-war stand. The girls beaming at his words were doing so in reaction to the realization that he was on their, the young people against the war, side of the national debate and hate.
This was a song on am radio when I was a kid…WLS Chicago…he was unique
Very respectful reaction, sir
Johnny is a Legend! He always could tell a story in his songs. I've always known him as "The Man In Black". Beautiful sentiment to do something to acknowledge others.
"A Boy Named Sue" is a fantastic story! You'll love it!
"Folsom Prison Blues"
...and I saw you got a few other great suggestions. 👍
Def got those coming
I love Johnny Cash. His songs are all so deep and personal. He had a rough start in life. But turned it around when he met his 2nd wife June. There is a movie out about his life. It's called The Man In Black. Great movie. You should watch it.
Man this one was super deep really enjoyed
Must React:
The Man Comes Around
God’s Gonna Cut You Down
(From Cash’s last album). No one could preach the Lord like Johnny. And, he left this world wearing black.
Def will do that for you my friend
This song is a perfect bookend with "Hurt." It shows who he was as a human, what he valued, and it makes "Hurt" resonate even harder.
Yes really enjoyed this and had me really thinking
Trent Rezner of nine inch nails who wrote Hurt, heard Johnny's cover and said i wrote it but it now belongs to Johnny Cash.
One of his best
Def
We should all appreciate people like Mr. Cash. Really think about and take it in to the depth of our soul.
I agree he was real
So glad you enjoyed it. A song that matters so much still today. More of my peeps need to acknowledge our privilege and use it to become allies to our brown and black brothers and sisters. That’s what the song means to me anyway. I have so much more to learn though. I know I’ll never truly know the actual struggle and reality but I’ll never stop fighting. Thanks for the shout out. Be well my friend. 🤙
Just wait, he also tells some great tales in his songs. You'll be laughing and smiling my friend. One Piece at a Time, A Boy named Sue, Cocaine Blues are a few of those songs.
Johnny cash was a humble man a legend
Johnny is so awesome & has a great voice & great messages.👍👍👍💕 thank you guy. 🥰
No problem thanks for watching
This wasn't just a song he is known as the man in black. He lived it
He was the man
Johnny cash was edgy, and rebellious before edgy, and rebellious music existed!
From that moment on he wore black until the day he died.
You need to check out his song "What Is Truth". I was in Jr. high when it came out and never forgot it.
He meant it,bro. He wore black until he died.
🌹❤️RIP❤️🌹
Now you understand why even hard rockers love Johnny, he is 'The Man'.
Loved your reaction. Johnny Cash is a legend and he definitely was the Man in black. You should also listen to his song A boy named Sue. Great Reaction 😀👍❤️✌️🌼

I'd love to see a reaction to Hey Porter, Big River, and Cry, Cry, Cry!
This was from the Vietnam era too.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! 😢🥰💕
He always wore black.
At the end of this song the crowd of college students who probably didn’t listen to his music gave him a standing ovation. He wore black until his time on Earth ended.
Till the day he died he wore black
Johnny had a lot of demons but he had the biggest heart as well
You are covering good music! Great job!
Glad you are enjoying
Thanks for this great reaction. Cheers.

I think I'm one of the biggest Johnny Cash fans he also sings with his wife June Carter Cash look for some of the albums and you'll get an idea of how many songs Johnny had and there's a movie also out about him I can't remember the name all of the movie
Check out Boy Named Sue. It's a lighthearted song about being abandoned and stuck with a name that doesn't fit. You'll love it!

Thaks for your comment and thanks for watching
Johnny Cash was the Man in Black check out Folsom Prison Blues and Cocaine Blues
Ok def will
So many of the OLD songs are more prevalent today, than when they were recorded, He included the thousands being killed in Vietnam, what do we have today with Afghanistan? Elvis, If I could Dream! More prevalent today, than when it was recorded!! Too much hate and division today, too many lies! Seeing the messages being received today, as it was when I heard the original, tells me, nothing has changed. People, we need to come together and unite as human beings! There is a much bigger threat to man , than race, money, position or POWER!
Yea Johnny was the man
Liked and subscribed
Good reaction.
Glad you enjoyed

Check out "What Is Truth?" By Johnny Cash

Yo Dub I know you just reacted to one of mine and I’m sure you are inundated with requests so all I’m asking is for you put this on your list for when and if you can get to it. This song is super special to me as a US Army Veteran. The song is by Tim McGraw and it’s called “If You’re Reading This.” There is no official video so this video was put together to support the song. I hope you can get to it but more importantly I hope you and your subs who may not be familiar with it will feel it. Get your tissues ready and be well.🤙🇺🇸
