This is a wild and kinda heartbreaking slice of time, with Marc talking about his girlfriend, who would tragically die soon, and both of them talking about releasing their specials in March 2020 without knowing the pandemic was just days away. "End Times Fun" was the best timed show name of all time. This episode was on the cusp of all of that.
Bert was really good on this episode, asking a lot of questions, not a lot about himself, if he keeps whatever he did THIS episode constant, it could evolve into something really good
justinz3 And he is insulting us the whole time like he’s the smart guy? He’s a narcissist lunatic who cannot change a tire who is a Hillary supporter. It’s psychologically stamped
@@jasonablah7702 that too. The majority of comics are. It comes with the territory. A narcissist who knows they are a narcissist and can point out their own flaws is more likable. That self-awareness is something that eludes many performers. They too are narcissists, but they lack the self-awareness to see how others may perceive them. He "gets it" is my point.
This is unreal! I literally just got done with work, got home and am grinding up nugs for a blunt and then get this Easter egg! Thanks Bert! This made my night.
Call in sick to work day was amazing.........I got 1st show tickets and can only imagine how crazy the 2nd was. Thanks for experience and looking forward to it in DC again!
Need to watch this podcast back some time. I don't know much about Marc. But I have fond memories of this podcast and he came across as a really nice guy and cared deeply (obviously) for his wife. Just heard the news now and sorry for your loss Marc if you ever read this, from a random stranger on the internet from the UK. R.I.P Lynn
At 42:45 or so you start talking about how your stand up fans, Marc's, and Joe's are probably not crossing over. NOT TRUE! I love all three of you guys.
I'm probably the obly person on the planet that started listening to JRE bcz Bert talked about it so much! And then started listening to Maron 3rd. Love them all, but Bert was my 1st podcast
great tracks on that Europe Dead album. Also, the first comedy show i went to was Marc, at the Ice House. I kept thinking, "shiza, he is making eye contact with me. oh no is he gonna say something to me?!?" haha. it was a lot of fun, great show, he was obvious about just working out some material.
Bert, I wish there was a woman like Leanne in m life, you are so lucky. I'm so happy that a women like that will have what can you can offer. go have a great life buddy
I wasn't expecting to get some music recommendations from this podcast. I'm digging Destroyer. I love The New Pornographers and didn't know Dan Bejar had another band.
i was shocked when destroyer came up as i just found it a year ago and wanted to be snobby about my musical taste found it funny that maron played a track off the album that is dynamite 'Streethawk: a seduction' then recommended others to start with. Streethawk is the album to start with as i found it to be perfection. followed with ken. amoeba episode i found them out. cheers! funny world.
Hahaha damn, ya beat me to it! While you're on Clomper, definitely make sure you check out Turd Journey too. Takes a while to really pick up, but it's a great one!
I am 51yrs old. I dig Rogan; Maron and Chipperson,YMH, The Breakfast Club the list goes on. Fun and interesting is always refreshing. All the podcasts now are really early rap and punk rock.
@@coryvincent1932 so don’t listen. Very few people are naturally funny. It is a craft that is nurtured over time. Who doesn’t want money? Most have been broke at one time or another. That gets old fast.
01:32:00 Selling podcast networks. Was Maron talking about Bill Simmons selling The Ringer to Spotify? One of the few people with podcast longer than he has.
I watched his special after this. And thought he sold his tribute to Bill Hicks a bit hard, but in the end he made Bill proud. I did not know I missed that kind of humor until I heard it.
Love how Bert realizes that both sides can be crazy! People need to be more open minded! I’m 100% republican and love my president, that doesn’t mean that I hate you because you don’t like him. Let’s drop that narrative that all Trump supporters hate liberals or how us “righty’s” hate Democrats! The world is sooooo much bigger than California, Hollywood or mainstream comedy! Don’t lump us all together then say you hate being labeled as a “liberal”. We have to respect each other’s political stance regardless if we like it or not!! We will not get any better if we don’t learn to do this! Love Bert and respect his views. I don’t know his guest but he seems like a great person and I could care less that he doesn’t like Trump. That’s his right to do so!!! That’s his right to say and feel however he wants!!!
The "documentary guy" they're talking about is Beigefrequency. They're basically just old O&A insults filtered through the worst parts or Reddit and narrated in a smarmy high pitched voice. People put too much effort into not liking things they choose to watch.
@83rdox Beige Frequency and Porsalin are both O&A subreddit guys, the guy Marc Maron is pissed about is just a video essayist dissecting why his podcast has declined in popularity, it's critical but it's not a troll.
Is the new Netflix special coming out in a couple weeks the same jokes that you’re gonna do in Atlanta on April 19th? I wanna watch it but I have tickets to the ATL show and don’t wanna ruin it for myself
I watched on fighter and the kid podcast and it sounded like he is still working with the same material, I'm not positive on this but I wouldn't risk watching it until after you go to his live show just in case
I like Maron's and Rogan's stand up, but not their podcasts. I like some lesser known comics' podcasts, but not their stand up. Bill and Bert, I can listen to them in any medium, but for different reasons. Bert isn't a great comic, but he's a natural storyteller and a huge comedy *fan*, and I resonate with that energy. Bill and Maron are kind of the opposite, super professional and technically brilliant comics, but too cynical (and, maybe, just getting too old?) to really enjoy the craft from the perspective of an "audience member". I enjoy their insights from that angle. It's all weird to cognize.
the ending of the special that I think Maron was talking about here is where he does this whole thing sort of poking fun at Marvel a bit, including Jesus as an Avenger. I can tell you I've been a pretty big MCU fan for years, and I thought it was goddamn hilarious (and it was not w/o any valid points)
Maron is the Rolls Royce of podcasters, the only downside to him these days is that he is running out of guests, who else has had a sitting president for a start?
Maron needs audio AND video for his podcasts.

He kept interrupting Maron....as usual
I agree with you, Keith. You could feel his respect for Maron.
Maron appeals to a lot of introverts. And introverts don’t get out as much.
justinz3 And he is insulting us the whole time like he’s the smart guy? He’s a narcissist lunatic who cannot change a tire who is a Hillary supporter. It’s psychologically stamped
@Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls Seems legit.
Mike Hatzl this comment literally supports the whole argument in the first half of the podcast
Dum dum
Maron has tremendous self awareness, an admirable quality.
Narcissism

Legend.
Thankyou!!!
"The glass is the glass man..."
Gabriel Fernández great way to sum up Marc Maron’s outlook
Maron is sharp and proves it with that response.. I gained a new respect for Marc after this interview.
The most "Marc Maron" of responses
54:55 watch Bert's face as he forms an internal thought, then cracks himself up about it. Don't we all wish we could have that internal joy?
This is unreal! I literally just got done with work, got home and am grinding up nugs for a blunt and then get this Easter egg! Thanks Bert! This made my night.
Bert and Maron need to do a monthly podcast. Awesome
Call in sick to work day was amazing.........I got 1st show tickets and can only imagine how crazy the 2nd was. Thanks for experience and looking forward to it in DC again!
OK guys, I listen to Bert, Marc & Joe because they all have great interview skills.
Bert your podcasts are my Green Room with Paul Provenza...I absolutely enjoy every interview that you do.. Thank you!
Super pumped and unexpected to see Bert on the dollop! Love it
I am seeing a side of Bert I’ve never seen. He is intelligent and capable of having mature conversations. Marc brings out the best in him!
Need to watch this podcast back some time. I don't know much about Marc. But I have fond memories of this podcast and he came across as a really nice guy and cared deeply (obviously) for his wife.

Bert: Im a huge Grateful Dead Fan
Marc: Hes Gone, do you know that song?
Bert: .... Umm let me see if I have that one. > Goes to sponsored ad lol
i love bert but on a episode of two bears one cave he was wearing a lightning bolt hat and goes "yeah this hat is from john mayers band" lmaooo
LOVE this podcast!
I've never quite seen a guy like Maron, that LOOKS like his Comedy act
The way he talks is exactly how you’d think he would sound
Epic cast, bro! Marc Maron is a comedy GOAT. Keep up the good work, bro! Killin' it!
He's my fav comedian, despite him being more of a truth teller than a funny guy.
I'd go see Marc Maron if I knew when he was on tour. Does he ever come to Long Beach, CA?
Just great! Thank you!

I wondered about the Campbell interview...makes sense...best part of this interview.
Bert looks like what Marc Maron would look like, if Marc Maron ate Marc Maron.
Two of my favorite standups
24:13 HE SAID BEN AFFLECK RIGHT, HE USED TO SAY IT RIGHT!
thats cool of maron to do the comedian podcast circuit, the glassman one was really good,

God I love Maron.. I will meet him one day. FOR SURE!
I did, and he's exactly who you'd think he'd be! Super cool.
A gentleman and a scholar.
At around 54:07 Bert pronounces sword with a pretty heavy w..just sayin
The whole back catalog is on Clomper.

Great episode. Great chemistry.
We managed to get to 55 minutes without the pig squeal!
Lol was not expecting a Dan Bejar shoutout here. Destroyer is amazing.
Wow this Podcast is incredible
Two people having a conversation? Who's your favorite band?
Blues for Allah album (GD); Help on the Way is epic. Guitars on Stash from Phish
Blues for Allah is definitely the best dead studio album. Live shows are where it's at though! From 68-78 were KILLER years.
watching from the Philippines. just finished watching the special earlier
