From what I understand, she didn't have Laminitis until after she was in foal. She had an infection in her milk glands or something, which they treated, but for some reason as a result of that treatment or infection she developed the disease in her feet. Rip Black Caviar.

What type of laminitis did she have - meaning what was the cause? Since the food-induced laminitis can be treated & handled and the laminitis caused by hormones after foal birth, she simply should had not been bred again, if there was a known history (as a comment here mentioned before). If the laminitis was caused by over working it, its sad to see that she got raced to death. All over, race horses have such a sad life...RIP

The great American stallion Secretariat was euthanised at the age of 18-19 yrs after suffering from laminitis like Black Caviar. These awful things happen, and to continue apportioning blame is both unkind and a useless exercise.

Laminitis is excruciatingly painful…she had to endure it till they could harvest her foal…nothing was peaceful for that beautiful girl….disgusting..

Sadly this is likely true. Maybe rules about egg harvesting and IVF for thoroughbreds SHOULD be changed. Use younger, HEALTHIER mares as surrogates.

To: @claudimorganvlogs8952 - Black Caviar suffered from laminitis. Apparently whilst giving birth the blood flow to her front legs had stopped, aggravating the laminitis, so the decision was taken to euthanise her.
The great American stallion Secretariat was euthanised at the age of 18-19 yrs after suffering from laminitis like Black Caviar. These awful things happen, and to continue apportioning blame is both unkind and a useless exercise.

I became aware that one of her offspring had already passed on and have just discovered that the foal, by Snitzel at the centre of her demise, has also passed away.

To; @andrewgould699 - Perhaps, but I feel it more important to myself to pay my respects to the horse than any indignity I may suffer caused by having the same name.
That I reside in the UK may lesson any 'guilt by association' that arises.
