I think it all comes down to the fact that you can appreciate something as being a fun guilty pleasure while also being aware that it's all empty calories. While SAW 1 can be watched as a somewhat interesting, horror'y thriller in its own right, the rest of the franchise isn't exactly high culture. They aren't particularly good "as movies" and only occasionally dip into "so bad it's good"-territory, but they're still fun in their own way.
I think we all have stuff like that. Stuff we know is low quality but that we enjoy nonetheless.

FYI in Jigsaw they DID explain that Logan was deployed in Afghanistan as a combat medic in 2001 and was in combat till 2008, so he basically missed the entirety of the Saw franchise, but he was there helping Jigsaw prior to Hoffman's recruitment.
Jigsaw began his killing career in Feburary 1995 (Year of the Pig, Chinese New Year) and he was active as Jigsaw until his death in 2006. He only rose to prominence in 2002, which is around the time Mark Hoffman committed his copycat crime.

Not even close to the "most worthless one ever made". Looks like it's a welcome addition to the franchise for fans.

@@za-ir5ni Admittedly I could have phrased my own comment better. I never meant to say that it WAS the worst one, only that EVEN IF it were the worst that thumbnail would still be a masterpiece.
To be honest, I’m not enough of a fan to go see the movie but I’m glad that it’s getting positive reviews.

I actually thought - for reasons unknown!! - that bugs would come down through those tubes and eat his eyes and brains. When I saw the poster that's what I thought it was! Then in the film, when I saw a machine attached and no bugs, I thought it was acid?? So you shoulda SEEN MY FACE when they sucked out his eyeballs!!!! Incredible. How did you know they were vacuum tubes?

@@skunkjo3195 Those were some super vivid guesses, I envy your imagination :p
I sort of spoiled it for myself by watching the trailer where Jigsaw mentions the vacuum. To their credit, it ends right when he breaks his first finger so I had no idea where the scene went.
So his eyes do get sucked out huh? As an artist, I think I’d successfully make the finger sacrifice. There must be more to the scene though, I’ll have to watch it when it gets posted online.

Jigsaw's wife worked at a methadone clinic for drug addicts, that's why she was closing it down, and why it was even a place that does close :3

The "Jig-f*cking-saw" line was in reference to Jigsaw (2017). Logan's redhead assistant who is way too into Jigsaw to the point she's on dedicated fan forums says it around the 31:10 marker (at least in the version of Jigsaw I watched). I knew it sounded familiar so i had to go back and check it.

I'm convinced Tobin Bell is just John Carpenter in slightly older age makeup and you can't tell me otherwise

I don't know why but the cover for this movie looks equally horrifying and hilarious. So in a way it fits the Saw franchise perfectly, it's beautifully confusing.

without knowing anything about the movie, seeing those black spots on the pipes made me think there are insects inside and this contraption is supposed to just pump a bunch of bees into a victim's eyes
not sure how that would work

We need a giant saw movie/marathon, all events in order, just so we know when tf that scene in saw 7 flashback where John is wearing the backwards hat happens in everything

Honestly though, I've seen terminal Cancer patients who, after enough health decline, can very quickly look 2-3 times their age. That's part of what makes this disease so terrifying, the visual deterioration. Even with treatment, it can wither you away at least for a while to look like a grandpa in your 40s. I don't want to imagine seeing that in a mirror.

Hearing you two talk about SAW X on a Sunday morning is such a treat. I was giddy watching SAW X the night it was released in theaters, and it’s my second favorite of the franchise. The only thing i wasn’t as thrilled by, was the ‘final’ trap. Just having her survive is fine, but it also makes no since considering both her and her husband could have stayed alive. But I’m happy with the final product. Would watch it again!

Lmaoo the ending where Alex asks adum which movie certain traps are from just reminds me of the interview footage from the Saw YMS’ of Cary elwes being asked similar questions but getting them all wrong
