I love Winston. He looks like a old grumpy gorilla, but he isn't. He is pretty sweet. Not sure why Frank is so darn mean to him. Frank needs to be somewhere else with his own wife and family. I think he wants to take over Winstons. Well, Wiston is not gonna give it up. And Winston family really loves him. You can tell. Heck, I really love him.
Frank isn't biologically related to Winston so his natural instinct is to challenge Winston, take over the troop, & mate with the other females (excluding his mother.)
I always thought it was insane‼️that the zoo kept Frank in the Winston's enclosure as long as they did. 😅 Thankfully, Monroe and Frank separated into their own bachelor's group now. ☺️💕

Frank needs to remind himself how Winston graciously took him in when he arrived from the other San Diego zoo.

It sure it was ‘gracious ‘ nor was he treated kindly. He was reported to have a lot of unexplained injuries. He was adopted by one of the females, but never really seemed to bond with Winston . IMO
I came back to watch this video of the Winston family today (3/3/2022) and boy what a change in Frank. Now he's in a bachelor group with Monroe and he's settled down a lot. Its hard on the boys when they are taken from their families. It seems like there is a lot of adjustments both mentally and emotionally that they go through. But its a must to prepare them for their own families someday. Great memories here.

There will be a confrontation soon. It is not right. Frank may even cause an earlier death with Winston. There is only one silverback in a group for a reason.
Groups with multiple silverbacks are semi common. Just depends on the disposition of the silverbacks. Some share. Some don't. Frank is definitely not a sharer.

だいぶ前の動画ですが、今じっくり見させていただいて、本当に貴重な動画を撮影くださりありがとうございます。日本のゴリラの群れとは違う家族のダイナミックな構造にただ感嘆するばかり。日本のゴリラファミリーたちもこれくらい大きな群れになるといいなと思います。フランクは立派なシルバーバックになりつつありますね。このときイマニがどういう心理だったのかが気になるところ😊

ゴリラの12-14歳頃は高校生くらいの反抗期でどのゴリラもとてもやんちゃな感じですねw
また フランクだけはウィンストンの息子ではないのでいつもどこか孤立しているところがありました。
イマニはフランクは自分の息子なので(本当は息子ではないですが)決してウィンストンの側には着きませんでした。フランクが騒ぐ時は 家族みんなウィンストンの側に着きますが、イマニはいつも離れて関わらないようにしてました。ありがとうございました😄🌸🌷

I think the only ones who actually understand that frank stresses winston out are his loyal group.
I know the only reason frank is still in this group is that he will take over after winston passes but it's still too stressful for winston.

I don't believe the oriental zoos have the same standards that we have.
People still use the term “oriental?” Appropriate term is Asian unless you know the specific country, it’s a safe bet to use “Asian” and there standards are far below ours as it pertains to the way they care for primates.

Their standards are sub-par. Most zoos will not send females to some of the Asian Zoos
This is the San Diego Zoo - it was one of the best, most advanced in the world, not sure how it is now. But, in the 90's I went a lot with my family.

Sorry, I disagree…when zoos were bad ( I’m 69), that’s something to discuss historically.
For everyone worried about animals in zoos..remember for most in captivity, there is nowhere safe to release them. They are in a breeding program as natural as humans can achieve, which I admit, depending on the country, isn’t always natural or beneficial to the troop. But instead of complaining about animals IN captivity, spend your energy fixing the poaching and habitat loss in the native areas this animal would and should be thriving in. The rangers do what they can to protect them but the demand for gorilla hands and heads (folk magic) and their bushmeat is really bad. It’s sickening. They are diminishing rapidly in the wild. Mostly due to humans. Surprise!
The cousin to these gorillas are the mountain gorillas. There are two groups, totaling 1,063 individuals. Babies are born every four to five years because nature set up the mother to care for the baby until about 4 years old. So with that reproduction rate, it’s not looking good for the mountain gorillas. And they have to have a mountain habitat in Africa, so we can’t save their species like we can with lowland gorillas, like D’Jeeco’s family, or Shabani’s family, or Momotaro’s family.
I understand your passion. Perhaps think about what is critical? The poaching and destruction of their habitat is something you can act on. But,if you are a boohoo activist, I have no time for your whiny comments. Be active, research the truth, help support the rangers who try to keep gorillas from being killed for their heads and hands, or infants, and also their habitat from being destroyed by humans in Africa, there’s opportunities there! Help there if you love gorillas or any endangered Animals. Yes, with a capital A. ☮️💜🦍
@klmoll two wrongs don't make a right, poaching is wrong too but this isn't a poaching video, since you wanna include everything safaris are wrong too, there are a lot of cases where animals who kill humans get killed afterwards, how about we leave them alone because they are real souls created by TMH and not here for your entertainment which is why all of these businesses were created anyway, enjoy 💯
