Limited Run Games had just released the Sega Astro City Mini V today. Unlike the Japanese version, the LRG version also includes an additional arcade title called Super Zaxxon.

The wallpapers don’t work when the screen is set to vertical and the borders are a dark grey, not even set to black. Surprised Game Center Mikado put their name to this.
After the Egret II I just cannot get hyped for a "non-transforming" screen at this price point. Damn, I need the Egret to be hacked, so I can put my own non-Japanese roms on it.

The Egret II Mini was just above 100$ at amazon japan a couple weeks ago. Missed my chance to get that at that price, looking for it to go on sale again like that.
Fomo didn’t get me this time!! Luckily I was late to the game and didn’t know about it until I started seeing reviews. I bought my daughter the egret mainly because it was pink, the screen and she likes my Astro city. I was debating if they were even worth their price.
I ordered all 3, Astro City Mini, Egret II mini and ACM V over the course of a couple of weeks when I was al little drunk. No regrets, but I don't really buy much "collectibles". I've always wanted to play my full sized astro city on the porch on summer nights. That's what I've been doing with these. Glad Sega got the full sized screen with the V. I'm actually trying to track it down, maybe it can be bodged into the original ACM. That'd almost certainly need the firmware to be modified but who knows. Really would like more games for the Egret II though. It'd be nice if Taito got the rights and released cards with Namco, Konami, maybe Data East and Irem, collections. I hope someone can test it with input lag measurements, thanks
Wish there was more variety of games coming from these mini arcade setups. I love shmups, but make it interesting for the price. The price, it's way to expensive for what it offers, I could see max 160.00 for it, but almost 200$!? Nope.
Is it worth it? Well, if you just bought these games alone say in switch and you got 22 games it would come out to $7.27/game…. So I think it’s worth it, you get a cool collectible and 22 games for 7.27 per game!

I love those games and that period of Toaplan in general when their games got even better looking but before they went more towards bullet-hell concepts. For me, Grind Stormer is my sweet spot of being old school with lots of bullets, but not too many. There are gameplay differences between V-V and Grind Stormer despite being mostly the same. V-V uses the Gradius power-up system, while Grind Stormer uses the more traditional item pickups and gives you bombs. I prefer Grind Stormer because V-V requires more skill. I like bombs. I also like playing the whole game with the main gun fully concentrated forward. I don't really use it as a spread shot. The game seems to reward firepower over a spread. Dogyuun may have the nicest presentation of all the Toaplan games, though Truxton 2 is close. Dogyuun's visuals and sound are wonderful. Its weapon system makes it a bit more cerebral, I think. While not easy games, Grind Stormer and Dogyuun are much less brutal than either of the Truxton games, which I do like, and I can play them to completion, and is probably why I like them so much.
This thing is AMAZING and if you have the AtGames Legends Ultimate Mini and plug this thing into it….you have the PERFECT SHMUP SETUP!! The game selection is perfection, the controller and buttons work great! It’s my new favorite.
I experienced a very unusual issue with this product. The controls keep glitching when I use the control pads and play it on my TV. Unfortunately, this has made it virtually unplayable on TV. I'm very curious to know if any others are experiencing this as well.
Im gutted this turned out bad, games like Battle Bakraid, Batrider and Dogyuun have never been released before. Batsugun on Saturn is going for hundreds nowadays. As a shmup fan this is a must own machine but the emulation with its latency just kills it.
It's an odd one and maybe something Sega have misjudged. They've curated a collection of games that the Shmup hardcore love, but would never buy in this format.
There is just too much lag on this thing. I can SEE the full movement of the stick before anything happens on the screen. That's not good, or really very playable. This is PURELY a collectors item. No one that's actually serious about shmups would ever play seriously on this thing!
hard to believe a power supply could affect input latency. If the a power supply isnt rated for enough amps then it just wont turn on. You mentioned you changed power supply when hooking up the hdmi output. That makes more sense. Did you test the same power supply that had latency with just the console itself to verify the latency was power supply related? Upscaling the console to a larger screen with the HDMI out sounds like the source of the problem. This can be replicated with any console using a cheap hdmi upscaler from amazon.
They should've just released it with a rotable screen and the same games as the original plus the new ones. Paying an extra $200 just for the shumps isn't worth it
The reason USB mini is used it's cheaper and was the standard before USB C so it will take quite a while before China completely switches to USB C probably when they do switch that there will be a new version of USB out there and China will be using up all the USB C until the cycle start all over again.
Behind the scenes there is a contractor called ZUIKI who was in charge of both the Astro City Mini and the Egret II mini motherboards. Its almost using the same components as well and the EGRET II got both the USB-C an SD card slot and a rotative bigger screen for a cheaper price. It makes SEGA looks incredibly greedy in comparison even more since the mini V came after the egret ii mini.

Can't see anything here that people who bought the original City Mini won't lap up, personally.
The thing with youtube is the attention span of the majority or interest in the topic, people fade off and it hurts your channel the longer a video is if the watch time dips. So sure i could show each game, but id have had to script the video instead of just live reacting to trying it out for the first time. I dont do videos like this ones format too often anymore because I do like to cover as much info as possible in a shorter amount of time, but just didnt want to have this video go one for too long.. i tried already cutting it down as much as I could and actually cut a few games I played. I wish it wasnt the case but being punished by TH-cams algorithm for longer videos kind of sucks, but I do tend to do follow ups to provide more info or expand on what I have looked at in other videos... So for sure can do a follow up checking out more of the games.
I’m selling the original Limited run edition basically brand new for what you said in the video you have to plug it in I don’t like that if it had a rechargeable battery I would’ve kept it So if anyone’s looking for the original limited one version go on eBay tonight ships from New York so you’ll have it right away

Not something I'm ever likely to be interested in but watched the review anyway because entertainment.
Seemed to go into the whole thing negatively with the whole "I dunno what I ordered what is this stuff" vibe.
Can't see anything here that people who bought the original City Mini won't lap up, personally.
how about the terrible input lag and increased priced tag ?

98.4% of all retro toys aimed at grown men are wastes of money. So yes.
damn what a waste….
Thank you Joe Biden for the price of hotdogs 🤣
Awesome games, but way too expensive for what the product really is imo.
Waiting 6 month and buy an Ali Express copy with 1000 games
Video should have been longer to include a little bit of each game
