Nice to hear Blueland have updated their bottles! I’ve never had an issue with my original ones, and I really do think most people who had cracking issues did because they misread the instructions and screwed the nozzles on before the tablet dissolved, meaning the released gas was trapped inside and the built up pressure made the bottles crack at the seam. But it’s good to know that that shouldn’t be as much of an issue going forward with the new bottles 😊
We have recently started using Branch Basics for cleaning including laundry. I've been really impressed. It worked well today cleaning a stain in my car from a kid's spilled drink. Looking forward to trying it for other things and see how it does.
I just bought one of the new Blueland bottles. It doesn’t have the seam around the top that seemed to crack. So far, I’m pleased. I love their products.
We have been using a laundry detergent called Sheets. It's been working well on my husbands work clothes ( he runs a farm ). Do you have a video comparing Sheets vs Tru Earth? BTW we are older and new to all of this and find your videos so helpful :D
I haven’t tried the brand, Sheets. I’m glad they’re working for you! It’s Sheets Laundry Club, correct? I’ve been eyeing them for a while now. But I have so many detergents at the moment because of reviews I’ve made in the last haha. I do want to try them out though! I’m so glad my videos are helpful for you! Thanks for watching them!! 😊
My favorite swap was a local store’s laundry detergent. I tried a couple of others but with the store being 5 minutes away and able to completely refill my containers they are the better alternative.
I have one of the new bottles, it works great, HOWEVER, they're made with a flimsier plastic and thus seem less premium, but are probably less prone to breaking.
I feel the same about BlueLand!!!! Love the tablets but hate the bottles! I had them replaced 4X 😭 I have some of their newer bottles and they are better so far, no weird seam that cracks or spray Nozzles that stop working. Glad I’m not crazy and this was happening to others. They were wonderful about replacing and recycle if my old bottles free of charge but still a hassle 🤦♀️
The only "reusable straws" that I use are the plastic ones that come with the tumbler cups that I have been gifted over the years which I use pretty regularly. I pretty much never buy drinks (coffee, smoothies, Boba) and if I get a drink at a restaurant (dine in before covid) I just drink it without a straw. It's nice to hear that Blueland changed their bottles because all of my bottles (3) cracked but I can't use blueland since the refill tablets get bloomed from the humidity of Hawaii. I use the Earthbreeze laundry strips instead of Tru Earth since it never showed up (I got a refund). I like that it cleans the clothes well (even my husband's dirty uniform)
Those tumbler cups look so convenient! I would always ask for no straw when I went out to restaurants, too. You really got the short end of the stick with Blueland. That’s such a bummer. And it’s still crazy to me that they bloomed!! 🤯 I’m glad Earthbreeze is working so well for you and your husband!
I bought the volumizing hi bar based on your rave review! I haven't tried it yet though since I'm still going through another shampoo. The only other shampoo bar I've tried before was one from Lush and I didn't enjoy it. One of my favorite swaps I've recently made is dish soap. I bought a giant block of castile dish soap from Earthhero, and it's working really well so far! It came wrapped in paper and that's it. I think it's going to last a really long time too.
my favorite swap has to be ethique's kiwi health shampoo bar as a dandruff shampoo (i've been dying to get away from head and shoulders because they're owned by p&g) and my worst has got to be silicone straws (i really prefer stainless steel or glass). great video ♡
CONGRATS ON 10K!!! This video was so much fun and so practical. It's so important to recognize that one swap isn't going to work for every person so I think it's so important to talk about pros and cons to products so everyone has a guage about what will and won't work for them :) I also bought a lot of my frist swaps on Amazon too. It was impulse buys and I don't have zero waste stores near me. This was so relatable!
THANK YOU!!! (You'll be there soon haha). I'm glad you liked it! Exactly! Products won't work for everyone. Yes... I think a lot of us have the Amazon guilt haha. Now we know better haha! 😊
Eco nuts detergent. They just don't clean the way I need them to. They don't get the smells out, and so I've switched to Dropps and also am trying the TruEarth brand as well
My fav is reusable cotton kitchen rags I got from mighty fix / a eco subscription service and least fav is wooden cutlery- I think the wooden Cutlery popularity got more and more to restaurants when you order take to put in plastic cutlery - what happen to good old silver wear
Kitchen rags are great! They’re used all the time at my place! I agree. More restaurants were using plastic, unfortunately. Silverware always works! Thanks for watching!
I absolutely LOVE my shampoo and conditioner bars from Tree Naturals! They are so luscious and make my hair softer than any other shampoo and conditioner I have ever used. I am also so so happy with my laundry sheets from Earth Breeze! Definitely love my Leaf too! Hoping to one day take the plunge and try the tushy bidet. Also, for anyone using bar soaps of any kind, Kitsch has amazing soap bags made of RPET that are not scratchy like other soap bags, create an amazing lather, and allow your soap to hang dry! I definitely regret trying the Etee shampoo and conditioner bars...they just have such a funky mix of too many scents and did not get my hair fully clean.
Yay!!! You found so many awesome swaps!! Thanks for sharing the soap bags too (I think I remember you telling me about those 😊). That’s a bummer those Etee bars didn’t work, but glad Tree Naturals is working well for ya! 🎉😊
I used them until they broke and then bought mason jars with the measurements on the sides and bumps for those. It works great and then I got all of my friends to use old pasta jars and I bought them the sprayers to add.
I have had two of my three forever bottle replaced with the new models. I have no issue with the new bottles but in retrospect I should have just saved old cleaner bottle and to reuse. I was just worried about getting the tablet to water ratio correct at first.
I love true earth laundry detergent! I started using it and even though my family doesn't use it they think it's brilliant! Personally, my favorite zero waste swap is a collapsible silicone box I got on Amazon. (Yeah, not the best but) I use this thing so often! I carry it in my purse and use it as a take out container and it's so light to carry.
My favorite swaps have to be shampoo and conditioner bars and sugaring my legs instead of shaving. I think for a lot of people dealing with anxiety, depression, etc. zero waste razors aren’t a great option because they involve removable razor blades. For that reason, when people ask me for recommendations I tend to point them towards sugaring rather than razors. Least favorite is probably Bees Wrap. Mine is falling apart after only a few uses and never seems to get truly clean. I prefer using containers or sandwich bags :) Great video! I enjoy your honest reviews of products!
I have a history of self harm so I use the preserve popi razor. The head is replaceable and the handle is made from recycled ocean bound plastic. Definitely a much lower risk for hurting yourself. It’s $13 USD. Hugs
Yay for shampoo and conditioner bars! I was going to suggest what Nicole did below. Preserve is a great shaving option (It's a great swap for a Gillette Venus razor)! I've heard great things about sugaring as well (although I haven't tried it myself). I have yet to try beeswax wraps! I've had a lot of people tell me they're not their favorite. Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad they're helpful! 😊
shampoo bars and conditioners...they just don't work for curly hair! i haven't tried the ones you mentioned here but im tired i've wasted $$$, unfortunately, sticking to shea moisture i hate the plastic but idk man...i wish curly hair channels review bars but they don't uggh
I use the Spring & Vine moisturizing bar for my shampoo (LOVE the accessibility of being sold at Target, don’t love that the one I bought came wrapped in plastic, but hopefully they’ll change that if they haven’t already) and conditioner bars from Lush. All are CGM approved and have worked well for me and my curls! I haven’t tried hibar yet but those ingredients look good as well.
I have 4b-4c coils and I’ve tried a bunch but the only ones I can say that really worked for me are the butter shampoo bars from chagrin valley, the shampoo & conditioner from tree naturals and the shampoo/conditioner from viori.
It can be tough with curly hair to find products that work. You should watch the channel, Zero Waste Curls. It’s all about zero waste and low waste curly hair products. It might be helpful if you still want to look into more options! But do what’s best for you!! 😊
All of my blue land bottles are in the landfill now, it was very sad. I got sucked into the aesthetic of the bottle but I should have just used old windex and Lysol bottles or bought some glass spray bottles (which is what I ended up doing once my blue land bottles died)
Why is dropshipping bad? Maybe you could make a video explaining that. Is it because the consumer is unable to tell if the product was ethically and sustainably made?
I wouldn’t say the idea is bad. It’s just that the majority of the time (if not all the time haha), the products are not sustainably or ethically made. If there was sustainability in mind, I’d be fine with it. Sustainable companies have to be more connected to their supply chain in order to verify that their products are being made sustainably and ethically. There are some eco/ reusable products being dropshipped. But, there’s not a ton of information about who made those products and what their working conditions were like. I’m hopeful that more transparency will happen in the future though! This a short answer but I hope that helps!
My husband is hating the true earth laundry strips. :-( I like them but I don't know what it is with our water or dryer maybe everything comes out smelling musty :-( need to try other laundry detergents that are more eco-friendly than tide
Have you tried dropps? I have had no issues with them whatsoever. I also receive them on a subscription service so it’s very convenient. They’re pods so your partner may be more flexible in trying something more earth friendly if it’s in a form that that your partner is already comfortable with.
Lush shampoo and conditioner bars were horrible for me. And they had tons of artificial dyes and fragrance so much so it stained the shower and was pungent. I'm trying to avoid harsh chemicals not add more to my life. And it almost killed my hair. Horrible feeling, so many tangles. Almost put me off to the bar concept entirely.
If you don’t have enough money to afford a bidet A cup full of water and your hand works just as well. Just wash your hands after. You wash yourself in the shower so it’s practically the same especially if you’ve just been wiping with toilet paper (which doesn’t really work)
What're your favorite and least favorite zero waste swaps??
I have the new Blueland bottles and can confirm that they’re great. I’ve had no problems with them so far.
YAY! That's great news! 🎉 I'm so glad they're working well so far!
Rain straw is my favorite reusable straw, they come apart so you can really make sure they are clean.
I haven’t heard of them! That’s great that it’s easy to clean!
Yes! I’m hoping the new ones are a-okay! Glad you didn’t have any issues with yours! 😊
We have recently started using Branch Basics for cleaning including laundry. I've been really impressed. It worked well today cleaning a stain in my car from a kid's spilled drink. Looking forward to trying it for other things and see how it does.
Oh, that's great news!!! I was gifted some of their products and I'm excited to try them out! 😊 Glad they're working so well for you.

Try the Ecos laundry sheets. I got them because they were the cheapest of its kind when compared to other brands including True Earth. I love mine.
I bought the volumizing hi bar based on your rave review! I haven't tried it yet though since I'm still going through another shampoo. The only other shampoo bar I've tried before was one from Lush and I didn't enjoy it.

I have yet to try block dish soap! That’s great it’s working out for you thus far!! 😊

Ethique is great!! I'm glad it's working for ya! Thanks so much for watching! 😊
I love the EcoEgg for laundry. Its’ portable and you can use it for hand washing, easy on the hands

@@StrollingThroughLife you're too sweet! You live and you learn for sure :)
Eco nuts detergent.
They just don't clean the way I need them to. They don't get the smells out, and so I've switched to Dropps and also am trying the TruEarth brand as well
I prefer a detergent over the Eco Nuts as well! The detergents definitely help with stains and odors. 👍
I've been trying to decide between dropps and truearth, which did you end up preferring?
Love the humankind hand sanitizer! Pills a little, but it goes away almost immediately and smells so good!
Yay! Glad you're loving it, too! It's a great option 😊
Time to gift things you overbuy! My mom, best friend, and I basically cycle though stuff together :D
Yes!! I'm all for that! 😊
I love laundry strips I ran out and got some eco laundry pods on sale and upset lol its definitely cheaper and gets your clothes cleaner
Ah! Well it's a happy outcome! Glad the pods worked well for you!

My favorite swaps are my bamboo toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner bars and epilating my body hair instead of shaving.
Those are great swaps! Ohhhh, I haven't tried that before! I'll have to look into it!
I like the HiBar too, I do wish they were bigger though.
Yay! I’m glad you like them, too! That would be great if they made bigger sizes!!
I am a big fan of TruEarth detergent. It even takes out the bad weed smell off your clothes!!
It works so well!!

Overall a great video, but not much elaboration on why you like the HiBar shampoo.
I used them until they broke and then bought mason jars with the measurements on the sides and bumps for those. It works great and then I got all of my friends to use old pasta jars and I bought them the sprayers to add.
(By "them" I mean blue land bottles")
Darn, that’s a bummer yours all broke! But, that’s such a great idea using old pasta sauce jars!! Yay, reusing!! 😊
I have had two of my three forever bottle replaced with the new models. I have no issue with the new bottles but in retrospect I should have just saved old cleaner bottle and to reuse. I was just worried about getting the tablet to water ratio correct at first.

Nice! That’s great you found something lightweight and compact that works for you!!
