I once found an old flag that had been buried in storage at a cafe I worked in at the time. The boss had told me to just throw it out with rest of the junk but I said "absolutely the fuck not". I gave that good flag a tri-fold and it still sits on the shelf I put it on in that cafe. And if anyone touches it, I will crush their bones.

I spent 22 years of my young life serving and defending this country even if some hated my kind. As soon as I put the uniform on no one cared about my skin tone or if my eyes are slanted. It brings tears to my eyes that majority of American born men and women do not have an ounce pride for our flag. Every country have their own past of injustices and corruption but I'd rather live and die in this country over any other country in the world. I will never forget my roots and my culture but I am an American FIRST! These men and women who sacrificed their lives to be where we are now the least we can do is stand tall when this song played.

Thank you for your service. The ending of the Anthem is very important. It is a question.
"O say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free,
and the home of the brave?"
We're supposed to answer, "Yes, it still does. We're still free, and still brave. We've kept the flag and its meanings." One day, we'll have to answer, "No. We're no longer free, and we abandoned the flag." That will be the darkest day in American history, but it will come, I am sure, possibly sooner than we realize. The question in that, however, used to compel us to do what we could to preserve our systems. Now, nobody believes in them.

I’m a Marine Corps veteran. There are so many times I’ve lost faith in my government, but never in my country if that makes sense. The individual people are what make this country what it is. And I’ll go to my grave resenting much of what our government has done that has irreparably damaged human beings. Both foreign and domestic. But this flag is symbolic of so much more than what I can communicate. I’m glad you watched this. Love one another. Period.

I agree that our country and it's people is where we should derive our pride from, and yes the flag symbolizes that, it also symbolizes brotherhood/sisterhood between those that are not your blood, but who you're with in some god forsaken country and the sight of that symbol is like a hug from home when you're in the shit, and that symbol flew high in the face of evil destruction to our homeland, and thousands of deaths to our citizens and 343 of my brothers on Sept. 11th 2001.
At the same time we have to be honest with ourselves, and realize that symbol, our flag, represents untold human suffering that is about to befall your country, because your leaders did not bend a knee to U.S. politicians, or your country is between oil rich countries, and the land of the free considers your people acceptable collateral damage in order to keep oil prices down. I respect what our flag stands for, and I respect the men and women who have fought and died for what that flag is supposed to represent, but they didn't give their lives for a symbol, they gave their lives for an idea, a dream of a more perfect union. I understand respecting the flag, and I ALWAYS DO, but sometimes I feel as if people will take more time out of their day, to complain at city hall that their breaking flag code by not illuminating the flag at night, before they'd stop and help a homeless vet sitting on the corner they drive by everyday on their way to work. IDK, it's a lot to factor in, but I believe in we the people, more than anything, can someday rise above all this.

I won't disagree that the story should be told. And there should be respect given for those of the past. And the sacrifices many made for multiple freedoms over the 3 centuries. Some of which took longer for us to see.
But there are plenty who don't choose and know they are different in their hearts and souls. And that is something to be worked out properly when the person in question is old enough to better make their own decisions.

I'm German born. My American military husband was very proud being an American. After he brought me to this country, I didn't know anything about the American Anthem. We lived on base, and every time the flag was raised, my husband stood at attention and saluted the flag. When I asked him what he was doing and why he stood at attention, he tried to explain it to me. I didn't understand what he was trying to tell me. After I spoke more English and I watched many of these videos. I finally understood. I now salute the flag also and cried how the Anthem came about. I'm proud to live here and I'm thankful that I'm allowed to live here in this beautiful proud country. America became my second home and I learned about the meaning of the Anthem and the American law. Knowing the sacrifices that was made to keep America free made me proud to be allowed to live here. I now salute the flag. I respect every service personal and I thank them for their service. Willingly they give their life to keep us free. I am grateful to them. Every person living in this country need to respect the Anthem. Many kneel when the Anthem is played. They don't deserve to live here. I'm surprised how many American people don't know the meaning of the American Anthem. They just utter the words without knowing the sacrifices our forefathers have made for all of us. May God always bless and protect America.

Showed this original video to a Biden supporter down the road from me. the response I got was for them to take the flag flying in their yard, ball it up walk down the road to my place and throw it on the ground stepping on it to try and provoke a fight. Shows just how much progress I have made with the VA services because 3 years ago I probably would have killed this person over something like that. Somehow I managed to keep my anger in check long enough for that "American" to walk away.

As a Dutch person, living here in the Netherlands, I want to say that you have no idea the value you are having by making this video and the others. You are willing to look beyond the race issue, the past from people of color as a separate group within the country, and start looking at the past of the country as a whole.
As you and everyone born and raised in the US is American , therefore you should all unite, look beyond the color and represent together what your country and flag stands for. In Europe we've had these battles long ago, but people in my country and many other countries in the world, look beyond the suffering as "a group" or "color", but unite as one country together. Brazil has so many ethnicities, they are all Brazilians and proud and there is no separate "groups" of black and white. The Netherlands, albeit a lot smaller, does the same and many others do. We all have a history individually, and as a country . Important is when to prioritise one above the other.
Europe is now declining, cause the globalist have their foot in the door and that is not good, so divisions are created to make them win. We should never let them win , in no country in the world

But there’s always a small group of people that want to distort that. I say to them “you’re American first then brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter and so on, second”. It is nothing but a dramatic story. You might want to go to the Fort McHenry site for the real story; yes this is the forts actual name not the one given in the video.

It was a symbol for the fighting marines on iwa jima during wwII also. These arr the reasons people get so upset when someone steps on or burns the flag or kneels for the anthem. It represents what is so great about this country even when we citizens fail to live up to those ideals.

Not all the truths in our History. And bring back the Pledge but being respectful of other people's religion go back to the 1923 version. It wasn't until 1953 when the words "under God" were added. Because we may be one nation but not all people believe in God use that name for their God and we are a melting pot after all.

One day I thought this is ridiculous why would I be so touched by someone else’s national anthem. So I decided to look into it.

Im a Navy vet.....Let's Go Brandon...FJB. This story is mostly BS. And many here think this was during the revolution. The Battle of Baltimore was during the war of 1812. Only 4 men died in the fort. Nobody was holding up any flag since the British never did fire on it. Maybe that was because it was a small fowl weather flag that was flown. The flag FS Key saw was the Garrison flag that was hoisted the next day. You might want to look up the Garrison flag and the Battle of Baltimore. The REAL story is much better...the truth always is.

When I was in elementary school during the 70’s we recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, or at least at the beginning of each school week. Until this moment, I hadn’t really thought about how impactful it is that schools DON’T have students do this anymore. One of the top things we need in this country, now more than ever as powers are working to tear it apart, is that sense of pride, responsibility, and loyalty for the land we call home.
I just realized that my pre-teen son probably doesn’t know the Pledge or the Anthem, definitely hasn’t been taught this story, and won’t be required to take Civics or pass the U.S. Constitution class as we did for 8th grade. As Americans we should ALL know these things - even those who have mixed feelings about history. I’ll have to add these to what I teach him at home. Thank you for the reminder.

After all our country has been through and with all that it's going through *right now* we still need to keep asking this question and we need to keep making sure the answer is a resounding yes. While we may not be going through a physical battle right now regarding our country and our flag, we're going through a societal one and I believe it's just as important to keep asking the question.

I am a United States Navy Veteran. Just as K1ngM0ves has said below, the first thing we learned in the military is that we are colorblind when it comes to skintone and race. We see military personnel as rank and civilians that we defend. Defend not only the people, but also their rights. We defend their rights to free speech as much as we may not agree with what they are saying, all the way to speech we would say ourselves. We also defend their right to kneel at football games if the so choose to, even though that cuts our soul in ways they do not understand. Just how Dan Johnson has said below "There are so many times I've lost faith in my government, but never in my country", I second that 100%. We do not always agree with the direction our government takes us, but that doesn't change our views on the country as a whole. We as soldiers of the U.S. Armed Forces Stand. We as Americans Stand for our country. We don't kneel. Kneeling is an act of submission. We STAND. When a judge enters the court, we stand. When the President enters a room, we stand. When we pay respect to our fallen heroes, we stand. When we give our pledge of allegiance, we stand. When we hear the National Anthem, we stand. We stand because we all are equal. We stand because we are Americans, and we are free. The government is NOT the country, and the military is not the government just as the people are not the government. This is why the second amendment is a right of the people, for the people to be able to stand against a tyrannical government. That doesn't mean you are standing against the country, it means when the government is out of control and infringing upon it's peoples freedoms and rights.
Anyways, food for thought, we are all brothers and sisters in humanity. Love one another and defend our freedom.

    The last verse says...
O thus be it ever, when free men shall stand between their loved homes and the wars desolation. Blessed with victory and peace, may the heaven rescued land. Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must when our cause it is just, and this be our motto, In God is Our Trust. And the Star Spangled Banner in TRIUMPH shall wave, over the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Thank you so much for presenting the story of our NATIONAL Anthem and what Exactly our Flag and Any Country's flag represents the world of Nations. I pray many others will share and Take to heart the etiquette of honoring our Flag and those lives that were lost to make SURE it remained above the ground , to prevent our being ruled by England. A bunch of Rebels, Rag Tag army that beat the Greatest Nation on earth militarily at that time. Just a bunch of different and best any country sent here to Form a New Nation with Liberty and "Justicce" for All.
Not just for the rich and powerful but for All. At this time in our Nations DEMOCRACY , We must Not let those Men down by allowing those who do not have America's Best Intrest at THIER core but to rule as they please in unjust and UnAmerican ways.
Please Sing Lowd and Proud at Every OPPROTUNITY to honor those long gone who never let You THIER Future hit the dirt that England threw in our faces. From within! or WITHOUT our Flag still waves or'e the Land of the Free and the Home OF THE Brave! Those who would attempt to Take it and use it as?a Weapon against fellow Americans.....? I'll leave it right there.

So being a patriot means standing up for a song? I thought Trump said that being a patriot meant standing up for him? Or are those that stand up for justice and equality in this country patriots?? What is the definition of patriot? Are all military members and veterans patriots? Even the ones that join domestic terrorist groups and fly the flag when attacking other Americans?? Im just curious to know what you consider a patriot. Why is LFR "now" a patriot? Was he not one before? If not, what was he? Aaahhh, I see.. it is because he is a black man that seems to openly support that demon Trump (who said BLACK PEOPLE ARE LAZY)... Feel free to shout in anger with your answer.

It's a lie. We only lost 4 people in that battle and 24 wounded. Propaganda pisses me off no matter who is lying. 🤥 He even got the fort wrong. It's Fort McHenry and it was a military fort. If it had no military value they would have just left it. It was protecting Baltimore Harbor.

Respect Sir. Thanks for reviewing this. I've heard it many times. It's more fun to watch with a friend. I have a motto similar to "rather die on my feet than live on my knees." I say NEVER give up freedom for security. Never let the government quarantine you and ruin your business over the flue, for example.

It has been my pleasure to watch you willingly learn America's history.
At 57 years I can still remember saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning in Elementary School. I am a disabled US Army combat Veteran, a 3% American Patriot and a gun owning 2A advocate.
After watching this and learning what sacrifices were made for this country, will you allow an ignorant to kneel while the National Anthem is played?
All you hear these days is " old white men " wrote the declaration of Independence. Not true. Research the life expectancy in 1776 and 1812. Currently American's life expectancy is 77 years. I'll give you a hint; after achieving this age you would only serve as president for a few months. But many did live longer how else could we calculate an average?
England attempted to outlaw gun ownership by colonialist people, IMAGINE if they succeeded where would AMERICA be?
This is why I stand and salute during the National Anthem and I stand for everyone's right; "To Keep and Bear Arms"!
Only three percent of Colonialists took up arms against the British, hence the term 3% Patriot!
So many nationalities were already in America and those white settlers/ colonialists Patriots fought for them all.
Sad truth, while the Tuskegee Airmen proved their courage as Heroes, Blacks were not allowed to be gunners in the Navy because they "thought" dark eyed people couldn't see well at night, quite the opposite actually. Folks with lighter colored eyes can see further in daylight. Dark eyed people have much better night vision.
I pray you continue to research history, the lives that have been lived can teach us so much about who we are. My black son and grandchildren only call themselves American, even though my daughter (in law) is from Ethiopia.
You are in my prayers with Love and Respect
    Hoka Hey

You should take a trip to Baltimore Harbor and visit Fort McHenry. It is a moving experience to say the least. They actually play this video in a theater. As the end of the video plays the whole side wall of the theatre slides open and you see this Enormous Flag flying where it flew on that night. You can actually stand in craters on the ramparts that were created that night. Powerful!

Unfortunately a lot of people don't know this story. I believe their hearts will change once they're enlightened. With that said, Thank you so much for sharing this!!!!

Too bad this story is a complete myth. Almost none of what this guy said is true. There was no pile of bodies holding up the flag. Nobody held up the flag at all. Only 4 Americans were killed during the entire bombardment and the fort took minimal damage. Sorry for ruining a good fairy tale.

The first want to thank you for putting this video up! It’s been a few years since I’ve heard it, and to tell you the truth tears are streaming down my eyes. You see my thoughts for this flag I would’ve died for this flag, and what it represents. You see war changes you, you go in as one person and come out another. All the struggles I’ve been through they’re all worth it you say I love this country. I love you, Star-Spangled Banner, and what you represent. But yet there’s people that. Want to burn you all glory, and it breaks my heart. If only every American could hear this, I think in someways, they might not hate this country as bad as they do! When we returned from Vietnam, we were spit on Americans actually hated us. So anyone reading this and you see your flag just remember what it represents. Remember how many men and women have died protecting this flag. I love you old glory.

@@sandgrownun66 Yes, the song was from a Gentlemen's Club ( a real one), specifically the Anacreon Society. The song was "To Anacreon in Heaven" and it had already been used several times in patriotic songs before it was used with Key's poem, creating our anthem. The tune was already known, and it was common practice throughout history, more often than not, to create new songs with already known tunes. This practice ironically began to die when this nation was founded, directly linked to the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 8, Clause 8) or what people call the Copyright Clause.
