What Zach's grandma was saying about how it is a loss that was important, everyone who loses abilities or is disabled from birth is always expected to be super positive and to ignore what we've lost and that's just setting yourself up for failure. I have lost things when my fibromyalgia showed up I lost things almost overnight I can't do what I once could and many of the things I still physically can do cost me a lot more in the long run. Telling people that have lost things that they haven't lost things doesn't make our lives better
Well, generally people say stuff like that because they don't understand, or are trying to be polite or are uncomfortable. Personally, I'd probably tell you that it sounds like what you're dealing with sucks. Because while I don't understand it, I have been through other things. Sometimes you just want someone to acknowledge that it's bad, that it sucks.
This. This so much. I was disabled at 14 and beforehand I was very active, multiple sports every year all year active, and I will never be able to be the person I thought I would be. I will never lead a normal life. And trying to ignore my disability does nothing but bring me pain. I have to accept that I will never be normal, and I have to give myself the space the grieve the life I will never have. But I am allowed to grieve it. I am allowed to be upset and angry. Pretending to be happy does nothing but make me feel alone.
Thank you. I always feel like when I'm grieving, some people say stuff like "well at least you have X" or "it could be worse". But they don't understand that that fake positivity bull crap doesn't work and makes us feel dismissed. It's awful. I wish we as w society took more time to talk to and try to understand each other. I think it's happening more, I hope it continues. Everyone is suffering, and some it's harder to tell.
As someone living a physical disability that essentially limits me to the physical level of an elderly person, this video really hit home for me. I actually cried. Thank you all so much for doing this and bringing attention to how difficult it is. PS. Watching Keith on the scooter was hilarious!
It’s interesting to watch people who don’t experience physical pain on a daily basis experience it and have their reactions different. I guess it’s just because people with physical disabilities are used to the pain
@@jaydenmcwhirter9979 We are. I remember my first time on my meds, and I was like "Oh my god, I can MOVE. And it doesn't HURT!" On the contrary, without it now is like "I used to feel like this?!! ALL THE TIME?!!"

Honestly, now I just want them to try and be on a wheelchair for a full day, no standing up, nothing, just full on... "wheelchair challenge" xD My handicapped ass wants to see it happen-
My college campus does the Archer Challenge once a semester and it's essentially this. My campus is hilly and a lot of times, not wheelchair friendly. I love it, it opens everyone's eyes to a lot of daily challenges that so many people face
@@madisonsuarez3911 That sounds so cool! My school is not the worst for someone like me, I can move around with my wheelchair but I need some help sometimes. Most people are surprisingly really mean and glare at me, as if I was making things harder for them. It would be nice to have something like you have, to open up people's eyes.
I want to see different levels of disability its way underrated what having to walk with a cane effects to your ability to say open a door or carry a package does to your day and life in general.
@@Llynnyia Yes!! I've had to become this blackbelt ninja-level planner when it comes to carrying things with my cane 😂 I don't need a roller walker with the basket, but sometimes I think "Dang, would that be easier?" I have never been more grateful for push-button accessibility doors, or more angry at heavy doors, since getting a cane. Especially doctor's offices or health facilities without accessible doors. It's like "Seriously??"
plus doing something where they have to take a dog (pet friendly only places cause ADA only covers disabled and service dogs) and deal with everyone trying to pet the dog, take pictures, etc. But the planning parts and all would be similar
I’d like to see one with a wheelchair with a tilting back. As well perhaps the wheelchair with titling back can’t move on their own so someone has to assist in taking them places. There are ppl like that so it would be Interesting to see them represented. And so we could see opinions of two on wheelchairs and two on cane/walker or elbow crutches
@@ZaynMalik-sq2li i agree! And maybe (if he's comfortable and uses them) maybe Zach could have a moment where he talks about how you don't have to be "disabled enough" to use it. Maybe they would get one of the many ambulatory wheelchair users and other wheelchair/mobility device users talk during it about their experience seeing their aids as not restrictive, but freedom giving!
I'm not sure why, but I felt both happy and sad when Zach had Bowie sit for that older woman, because she just wanted to pet him, and Zach took the time to have him sit and be patient.
After an accident in 2009 I became disabled, and the differences I have found are relateable to your video, I have restricted movement and i cannot walk without help. I've become invisible to other people and can no longer do the things I once enjoyed. Please don't take your health for granted you may loose it way before old age (34 years old for me), The elderly seem to be the ones eager to help me when I am out which shows you the level of respect they have for everybody. Thanks for doing this video it shows how it is to be disabled as well as older.
So much of what they were saying applied to disability and chronic illness, too, so hopefully, could help with compassion surrounding non-abled bodies as well.
I was going to come say the same thing. Besides the vision and hearing, everything else in this video is pretty much my life. I basically have the body of an 80 year old, according to my Drs.
Try guys you need to do a video living as a disabled person, seems there are many out there feeling the same as me! And it would be of benefit to us as empathy is not always given when you are disabled.
I was in an accident in 2012; I was only 15 when my doctor told me I had developed CRPS and would live in pain 24/7 for the rest of my life because of it. This video is a fun way to educate the public on how older age impacts the body, and how certain chronic conditions can also influence the body. I really hope they expand on this series.
Yeah I'm a wheelchair user also and like the guy w AS (I forgot his name sorry) I was thinking that I'd love for my abled relatives and friends to try something like this. Tho I gotta say, the most important thing I had to do as a disabled person was get over the idea that disabled is this horrible miserable thing to be. I felt like that all the time when I first got ill but as I've got used to things and made as much in my life accessible as I can, I don't feel much different to my abled peers most of the time and my mental health is much better!
It really was a harmless joke but I do appreciate what you are saying. I'm not from the US but I really would be shocked if there wasnt a elavator in a facility such as a cinema open to the public. Surely there are legal requirements about accessibility that has to be met.
@@niamhdocherty3138 sadly I learned from my sister before that some states in the US require elevators only if the building has a certain number of floors
Because of my lymphedema in the swelling in my legs I can't use an escalator. Most of the time I am in a wheelchair but sometimes I can walk... you can't get a wheelchair up an escalator
Because most of them are so damn selfish and nasty, who WOULD want to see them? I'm not saying it's right, I understand why they are the way they are. But they did it?
This makes me feel really bad for my neighbor he is eighty and his wife died from cancer and he lives alone. The only thing he does is got to the grocery store. He and his wife was best friends with my dad before he died
Try doing something nice for him evn tho right now you can't be around him like maybe offer to do his lawn or even just send him a card?? Idk Im sure he remembers you and would love to hear from you. Or just anyone to remember him, I think maybe some attention would boost his spirits :) good luck to you and him I hope he is okay and gets happier.
i don't know what the weather is like/whether you have a lawn where you live, but maybe you could offer to have a socially distanced picnic to talk about life. you could also offer to pick up his groceries for him or help him put them away!
I know this is late but I agree with the suggestions above. If both of y'all don't mind why not do a weekly video call to catch up or something? I'm sure it'll definitely enrich your lives.
Maybe cook or bake something and go and give him a bit, because you "have too much". He won't feel bad taking it and it'll be nice because you thought of him.
Cherish it and take advantage of it. We will all get old one day and this will happen to us. It is inevitable and it makes me appreciate, talk to, understand and really want to help older people more when I see them.
are we gonna talk about how they literally did like 800% as long as the last person did. they wore the suit for 24 hours when the last person wore it for only 3.
The problem is that people can’t afford a lot of the things that make it easier to simply live. These products need to be more accessible to people who actually need them.

Keith already has a band, so I think it would be a VERY easy challenge. I seem to remember seeing Ned and Eugene play instruments before, too. Zach is Jewish and most Jewish parents/grandparents encourage their children to learn a musical instrument. Einstein played the violin, for example. Yeah, I think this would be great fun for them, as well as for us to watch.
I would love to see a video like this. And if they already know an instrument try and find a popular enough instrument far away from that such as if you know a string instrument you use a wind etc
@@calichef1962 If they already play some instruments, then they can learn something else, or something funny like the theremin, slide whistle, kazoo, vuvuzelas etc, and write and perform a song with those. :D
It's funnier if they try a instrument they knew when young... like I could play piano when younger but last time I tried I couldn't play both hands... Practicing music is way to exercise the brain during adulthood too.

Lowkey cringey asff BUT WE KNOW WHAT WE WANT OKAYYY!¿ 😂😂🤷🏻♀️
OMG THEY SHOULD DO PARENTING NEXT not just babys but like the whole process of being one like pregnancy-> birth-> baby (in a total of max a few days tho😂😂) OR adoption(and the process of thT), and then puberty ->adult-> marriage of the kid, BOOM!! The end! Like that would be fun to watch 😂😂🤷🏻♀️
Iknow they did something with parenting already but i guess not a WHOLE damn procss like that
As funny as that could turn out to be, I'm to worried for Neds mental health and would not risk losing him to that ^^
That would actually be amazing.
We need it
What Zach's grandma was saying about how it is a loss that was important, everyone who loses abilities or is disabled from birth is always expected to be super positive and to ignore what we've lost and that's just setting yourself up for failure.

It’s interesting to watch people who don’t experience physical pain on a daily basis experience it and have their reactions different. I guess it’s just because people with physical disabilities are used to the pain

Honestly, now I just want them to try and be on a wheelchair for a full day, no standing up, nothing, just full on... "wheelchair challenge" xD
My handicapped ass wants to see it happen-
My college campus does the Archer Challenge once a semester and it's essentially this.
@@Llynnyia Absolutely! What about a video where each of them has to live with a different disability for a day?
@@Llynnyia Yes!! I've had to become this blackbelt ninja-level planner when it comes to carrying things with my cane 😂 I don't need a roller walker with the basket, but sometimes I think "Dang, would that be easier?"
I have never been more grateful for push-button accessibility doors, or more angry at heavy doors, since getting a cane. Especially doctor's offices or health facilities without accessible doors. It's like "Seriously??"
Keith: "I did win a DDR competition my junior year in high school"
Me: LOL guess who's going on Wikipedia and putting that into your achievement s
I wanna see "try guys try mobility aids" like one in a wheelchair, one with a walker, one with elbow crutches, and one with a cane
plus doing something where they have to take a dog (pet friendly only places cause ADA only covers disabled and service dogs) and deal with everyone trying to pet the dog, take pictures, etc. But the planning parts and all would be similar
@@IsraelForever8 ADA doesn't cover disabled dogs?

18:50 zach: "This is why places needs other options to get up stairs, you know" *WITH AN ESCALATOR RIGHT BEHIND HIM*
It really was a harmless joke but I do appreciate what you are saying.
Also can we acknowledge that you don’t get old overnight? You get used to it because it slowly happens over 80 years.
Meow Holly Meow that’s true but like the grandmother said, one day you just wake up and you suddenly FEEL old when you didn’t before.

The problem is that people can’t afford a lot of the things that make it easier to simply live. These products need to be more accessible to people who actually need them.
Not to mention that Google and Amazon aren't exactly trustworthy companies. Giving them that much information and access to your home isn't great

You guys should start a band like each of you learn an instrument within the span of a week and at the end of the week you play an original song
Yes yes yes!
