"Castle Ravenloft doesn't play quite like a Dungeons & Dragons game because there are more rules to it..." Looking at the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide, this made me chuckle.
Yeah. Good point. I did watch this video back and I did kinda think “no. That’s not right”. But there are certainly different rules. Thanks for clarifying. I was talking crap. You called it out. 😂 😜
I have the Drizzt one, and have played the two previous editions. My only misgiving for this game is (for me) you have to at least paint the player characters. I find them hard to distinguish on the board with all their same base colors. Other than that, I enjoy this very light dungeon crawler.
I own the first 4 D & D adventure games, all picked up cheaply. I have painted the first 2 and have used the minis in League of Dungeoneers. The game is good for when I just want a short dungeon crawl without the admin or time commitment of my campaign games.
There are certain aspects of these that I really liked. If nothing else, I thought they were great for one-shot pickup groups or getting people into the larger hobby. You can of course houserule them quite a bit, and they were (I believe) based on 4E (never played), which has been getting more attention on YT on some channels. 🍻⚔
It plays nothing like D&D. It's just objectively worse... unless you want to play solo I guess. As a boardgame, it barely gets a 4/10 from me. It's railroady, has very little in the way of any kind of story, and is just boring in general.
Interesting. I know it’s a lot more constrictive than D&D. There’s a lot of tokens and bits and tbh that annoys me a bit. I’d be tempted to adjust my score a little since playing the game solo.
@@magicalmancave I just find it to be very bland. The scenarios are all essentially the same, move, draw tile, repeat, over and over again. The combat and encounters are super random and don't correlate well to the quests. Its just a hard pass. There are so many amazing light RPG's or WAY better dungeon crawling boardgames. I literally took my minis out of the game for a tabletop Ravenloft campaign and threw away every other component.
I think these kinds of games definitely have their place. At one point I was working late constantly and by the end of the game I wanted to play a game but was so damn tired. Having some lighter games in my collection allowed me to get a dungeon crawl in without having to burn my brain much. I think these games are also pretty decent in general for what they offer.
@@p0ck3tp3ar yeah the character sheets can be picked for one day quick shot campaigns or as inspiration. The minis can be used separately and even the storylines or boards can be used in d&d by just ignoring the rest of the boardgame. I think they’re pretty good tbh
I don't want honest reviews I was dishonest reviews. Serious posting "honest review" implies you have made dishonest reviews for other products in the past.
I wanted it to convey that I’m not sponsored to tell you it’s great. I like it but since playing it, there are some things I’d probably adjust about my review so maybe I should do another video. Thanks for your comment.

The miniatures are a big draw for me. I’ve al and enjoyed painting them so that’s a plus if anything but I see your point.
I totally agree. But this can be as easy as color coding the base. And the great thing about paint is you can always paint over
Appreciate the video. Still need to give this one a try.
Thanks. Yeah give it a go and let me know what you think

Totally agree. It’s quite a versatile game really

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree. This isn’t a gaming channel but I thought people might be interested in this game (seems I was right. 😂)
Love the filming location😂 looks like your favorite pup 🤘🏻👍🏻🤩
Thanks. It’s my magical man cave. ;-) I’ll do a tour on this channel fairly soon.
Well that’s a real man cave 😆😝🙌👍🏻
Oh yes. 😂 it’s taken 18 months to make it so far.
Well it was worth every single day 🙌😎

Yeah that’s a fair point to be honest. Thankfully, the price is good enough that you can afford to do that.

Haha you really have made that comment, no one would even think that😂
