The Philippine Congress has approved the Maritime Zones Bill, setting the foundation for a new official map that asserts the nation's maritime rights, particularly in the West Philippine Sea. This move, aligning with the 2016 arbitral ruling and international law, challenges China's expansive 10-dash line claim. The bill emphasizes the Philippines' sovereignty over critical areas like the Kalayaan Island Group and Scarborough Shoal, marking a significant step in securing its territorial waters. China's strong opposition suggests rising tensions in the region.

I'm vary Proud for my PBBM... Very Smart 🧠... God Bless PBBM❤ , God bless ❤ Philippines 🇵🇭
Yea !!! thank You so much PBBM …your breaveheart …!!!
Philippines and Vietnam will divide it in civilized way regarding the islands we claim...so no problem with Friendly Vietnam...Sabah will be discuss in proper forum and best time we see fit.
No! The only way to go is with the law that members signed on in the UN, like the UNCLOS. UNCLOS final decisions should not be subjected to alteration. The Philippines EEZ has been defined by the UNCLOS. If Vietnam or any other nations are inside the Philippines EEZ and taking or destroying anything with economic value, then the acts would be considered illegal.
Every Filipino must fight for the sovereignty over our territories and sovereign rights over the Philippines EEZ as defined on the official map
But China whose nine-dash line claim was invalidated by the UNCLOS arbitral court ruling is still undeterred, aggressively asserting sovereignty within the nine-dash line. Bilateral agreements such as the gentlemen's agreement only tend to favor China.
The Philippines must strengthen alliances with US, Japan, Canada, France, Australia, and other like-minded countries, and together conduct joint patrols and exercises in Philippines EEZ to uphold the rule of law and freedom of navigation.
Facing threat of China's big navy, a multitude of militia vessels, hypersonic missiles and artificial islands military bases China built on Johnson reef, Fiery Cross reef, Subi reef, and Mischief reef, the US, should deploy on Philippine sites more Typhon missile systems, with tomahawk missiles, longer range dark eagle hypersonic missiles , and underwater Manta Ray drones.
The Philippines with the US, Japan, and other allies may one day have to face China head-on. The Philippines should strengthen defense capability, procure more ships, F16 fighter jets, surface to air missiles defense, anti-ship missiles, anti- ship drones, HIMARS , radar systems.
SABAH PHILIPPINES, WEST PHILIPPINE SEA NO NATION CAN CLAIM IT BUT ONLY THE PHILIPPINES, GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES 🙏🙏🙏
The Philippines claims North Borneo (Sabah) on the basis that North Borneo (Sabah) was said to be once under Sulu. Sulu only claimed that North Borneo (Sabah) was given by Brunei to Sulu as a gift for purportedly helping Brunei fight rebels. But Brunei refuted this claim and denied ever having given North Borneo (Sabah) to Sulu. There was NO DOCUMENT regarding the transfer of ownership of North Borneo (Sabah) from Brunei to Sulu signed by both Sultans.
Who gave away Sabah to Malaysia? Britain. Therefore, Britain must pay the Philippines for all its worth. It would be easier to extract any value from Britain than from Malaysia. The signed agreement was lease not buy - the Sultan of Sulu was using his own language that he knew so well while Britain was just a student at it at best. For Britain to claim other interpretation is another act of bad worst colonizer. Britain is the worst nation to ever occupy someone else land, it is a well known fact in history. Malaysia is also at fault not acknowledging the facts. Besides all, common sense should be applied on top of the general rules of law, so that Britain is responsible for getting it (Sabah) back from Malaysia and then hand it back to the Philippines; if Britain can't do it then Britain itself must pay the Philippines for all its (Sabah) worth. In short, Britain is responsible for making it right for the Philippines, Philippines don't have to talk to Malaysia anymore as Malaysia already exhibited its true color.
@uco1235 , wrong. The agreement was written in classical Malay, in jawi script (using Arabic). At that time, Malay language was the lingua franca of this region. The British translated it to English but Sulu didn't translate it to Sulu local language (Tausug) because at that time Sulu people knew and master Malay language because Malay language was the lingua franca, used for trade and diplomatic relations in this region.
When Sulu lost their mastery in Malay language, then only they translated the agreement to their local language from the English translation to their favour. That was why Sulu's translation didn't interpret the actual intention and spirit of the agreement.
In the original text of the agreement, the word "pajak" was used, which carried several meanings depending on the contact used. The word "pajak" could mean "pawn, lease, rent, tax or cession". In the agreement, the word "pajak" was used together with the phrase "selama-lamanya" which meant "forever". When the words "pajak" and "selama-lamanya" (forever) were used together, in this contact they meant "cession". This was further clarified in a second agreement which was a supplementary to the 1878 agreement. This second agreement was known as "Confirmation of Cession of Certain Islands" which was regarding certain islands between Sabah and Sulu which they were not sure whether they were included in the first agreement or not.
In the this supplementary agreement, the word "pajak" was no longer used because they thought it might lead to misunderstanding by later generation. Instead the word "menyerahkan" which meant "surrender" was used. And the annual payment was increased from 5,000 dollars to 5,300 dollars due to certain islands included. This showed that the 1878 "pajak" agreement was indeed a "cession" agreement.
"Cession" means "the formal giving up of rights, property, or territory by a state". Once your territory had been ceded, the territory (North Borneo/ Sabah) was no longer yours. That was why the annual payment which had been stopped since 2013 was term as "Cession Money".
@uco1235 , "...continue..."
Further more, on 22nd July 1878, the then Sultan of Sulu had relinquished all his possessions and the sovereignty of Sulu and it's territories including North Borneo (Sabah) to Spain. The Sultanate of Sulu only remained as hereditary cultural and traditional entity without any sovereign territory. Then, in 1885, to resolve overlapping issue on North Borneo (Sabah) and other issues involving other islands, Britain, Spain and Germany arrived to an agreement known as Madrid Protocol in which Spain surrendered North Borneo (Sabah) to Britain. What ever happened to Sabah after that was under British jurisdiction.
On 31st August 1963, the British gave independence to Sabah. Before that Sarawak was given independence on 22nd July 1963. After the United Nations Malaysia Mission Report "Final Conclusion of the Secretary-General", 14 September 1963, Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah, they all merged with Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to form Malaysia on 16th September 1963.
The question "Who gave away Sabah..."? didn't arise because Britain gave independence to Sabah. It was up to the people of Sabah to decide. After the Madrid Protocol agreement, North Borneo (Sabah) was under the British. What ever happened to Sabah after that was under British jurisdiction.

Historical records shows that Malaysia has been RENTING SABAH for so many years now. How can a TENANT CLAIM TO OWN A HOUSE HIS IS RENTING?
Do not be greedy Malaysia, be a good neighbor instead, and do not be like evil China.
"RENT"? Show proof that it was "rent". Show any "rent" agreement document that the name of the country "Malaysia" written in it.
dapat na sigurong turuan ng leksyon ang tsina at inuke na sila, hindi yan titigil sa panghamak sa pnas hanggang hindi sila nakakatikim ng sarili nilang medicine

Long live the Philippines!

Thank you, Lord Jesus! Nothing is impossible with you no matter what . . . no matter when . . . it happens according to your own desires & will which are our command in the Philippines.
Protecting Philippine borders and reclaiming lost Philippine territory is Ferdinand Marcos Sr's legacy that BBM should honor. I salute BBM for a job well done thus far.
God Bless 🙏🏻 our Country!
To GOD all be the glory Lord protect us always especially our country.LOVE PEACE & UNTIY for all the nations!
Perhaps historical early civilisation existence can confer and justify the conflicting territorial issues.

Maritime Zone Law.. Bravo mga KONGRESO BOTH HOUSES .
Awesomeness 😊
CHINA MUST RESPECT THE TREATY OF PARIS AND THE TREATY OF WASHINGTON.
Mabuhay Philippines !
Thats good news❤❤❤
China why not submit your claim too at the proper court at the West Philippine Sea...be legal do not just post it in social media 😂😅😊
The Chinese had already claimed it in the 1946 Map. 😅😂😅😂
I am happy about this....wow that is great
The overlap between ASEAN neighbors can always be resolved diplomatically. The important thing is to keep China out. Furthermore, this move lights a fire under the feet of neighbors like Malaysia and Brunei who thinks they can just sit it out and be a passive observer in the fight against China.
The Best Maritime law.
Did President Macos sign the House and Senate bill? If so, when? Tid Vietnam and Philippines come to an understanding agreement over the intersections of each EEZ? WHAT is that agreement??
❤thank you Lord

Partition the Maritime Zones as part of the regions as well
Yung nga maliit na teritoryo di binantayan yan pa kaya palakihin ang teritoryo.
if this is true, what will happen to china's arrogance once xi jinping dies And military power of the Philippines is something to reckon with?
good news, thank you PBBM .
West Philippines Sea and East Vietnam Sea.
ASEAN can negotiate among each other without the CCP China. I think they will be more open to listening from each ether. I don’t think anyone would dominate an ASEAN negotiation.
