Before you listen this song, we have to know their back ground story. BTS started from very small entertainment company, and this is very big deal in korea. cause they need a back up for the promoting properly. and there was haters every where from other fandoms and they called BTS beggar idol group and kept saying BTS never gonna success and will fail soon. and they made all kind of disgusting rumors about them.

BTS are real underdogs in this industry which makes their very dedicated fans want and love to see them thrive. The K-music industry is VERY corrupt. Power rules all. If you come from a small company like BTS does, no one expects you to fly high like this, not when resources are short and big companies use their power to sometimes bring groups down or manipulate shows and media. Yet, BTS didn't falter. Instead, they flew higher. And not because of the previous groups who "paved the way", not because of sns but because they are talented, hardworking, kind people with the most dedicated fans and a great company who supports them.
Usually, when a kpop group achieves something, the whole kpop community unites. Like when Big Bang got nominated for an EMA, all big and small fandoms took part in voting. But apparently, they all unite except for one group. That's BTS. This year on May, BTS got nominated for a BBMA and no offense, but that's bigger than an EMA. And you know what the kpop community did? They united AGAINST ARMYs and BTS. Some degrading the achievement, some voting for Justin Beiber just so BTS couldn't win. It was exhausting to experience. So then, ARMYs worked hard alone, with prbbly only 1% help from other fandoms and guess what? BTS won! Point is, BTS & ARMYs isn't only alone in terms of the K-industry but the Kpop community as well.
That's partially our story. We have endured much more shit than that and THAT'S one of the reasons why we want BTS to thrive so high. Because a lot of people have tried and are trying to bring them down. So we do our best to not let that happen. It's a battlefield but that's what makes BTS and us, their fans grow closer. We fight together.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment you probbly didn't read. If you wanna know more about BTS just ask and a lot of ARMYs would willingly give you like 8 paged essays lol great reaction!

JJ Synth_ia Thank you for this. Although I know all about this, it is heartwarming to see somebody talk about this in the TH-cam comment section. People think that we just obsess over them. Whereas the truth is we love them like they are our own true family. It's truly a battlefield out there. So it's a beautiful experience to see the respect that they are getting now, the respect long due. I really wish their own country would respect them and understand their true worth like the rest of the world does. It's such a pity to see that they try sooo damn hard to eclipse the BRIGHTEST star they have.

Also yes! I actually have expressed (really explicitly at that) my hatred for the K music industry. I've read a tweet once that it may be the reason why Hallyu is dead or is dying. Because they block off people who shines the most when it's not from their own. BTS may even have been a victim yet they only almost got caught. Again, because the fans, they tried so hard to not let that happen! Made hashtags, sent emails. I'll always give the fandom that credit despite its inevitable toxicity. We all just want what's good for the boys because we know how much they need good things after everything they've been through.

their lyrics are actually amied at their own domestic media. that's why they are bringing up "worldwide/billboard" and shit like "you thought i'd fail, but i'm fine". their own music industry was against them and dragging them in the dirt since their debute, calling them "dirt idols/dirt spoons" which is a slang for artists without a big record label behind them. bts not only broke into global scenes, they had to break their own market too, because it was against them. so the whole narrative of their lyrics is aimed at their homeplace. i get your pov on how americans who hear them for the first time and know no real context for it could drag them for it though, especially if they are already iffy about these people making waves bigger than them. but bts is packed with talent full on and have their own roots in music and rapping.
also, that comment about these shows just boosting their ratings with them -- that's a hella compliment wrapped into a downplay, you realise? :D it's not like their fandom doesn't know, we aren't stupid. we just don't care, we want to see them on all possbile stages because they could rock any stage. plus it's not like they are just a publicity stunt without deserving to be there, they've been up on the BB main charts with 5 consecutive albums, each placing higher than the previous one, and each of them was fully korean. they are topping 60-70 coutries' itunes charts with their releases. i'd say they are more deserving to be there than a few attandees on past music award shows.
