Self weight of truss would add further deflection - about 53mm. The self weight deflection formulae is 5 w L4 / 384 E I total. Where the term 'w' is self weight of truss calculated in kN/m - the sum of all truss elements member lengths x 7640kg/m3 steel density x 9.81m/s2. Also y bar is to the centroid of the 4973mm2 area from the truss NA. This would be (750mm -168.3/2) = 665.9mm.

I would have loved if the video went on to discuss if the deflection calculated was in safe range as per standard parameters set. And also ways of minimising excessive and unsafe deflection.

This is a very good video. My only comments here is that the calculation only contains deflection due to bending deformation and misses the deflection due to shear deformation. Shear deformation will increase total deflection slightly.

Wonderfully issue .. plz we hope make lesson on ( Thumb rule for steel structure - for Milty story more 10 story ) .. bx all Arab country need this issue to improve steel structure knowledge in ( Design & Erection )

Do these equations apply to aluminum trusses as well, considering a Young's modulus of 69 kN/mm²?

How did you come up with "A" 4973 ? It is not clear where this total area is derived from. As ii is the total area of member in solid beams.

    How you derive 2xAxY^2+2I.
Is it came from Ixx1= π/16x(D^2-d^2)+A(y1-y)^2, IXX2 Will be same so you are adding Ixx1+Ixx2
    Please give a hint!!

    How are you engineer?
What's live load on roof purlins (roof without access)?
One engineer told me its 0.75KN/m, is it true?
    Thank you.

Sir as you said there is y bar square.... But you didn't do that square in actual calculation as you shown in formula???
    Can you please clear it?

You would notice that the Y is squared if you did hand calculations and checked these numbers.

Do the calculation. The ybar is squared. 🤦‍♂
