Nice video Matt. I’m still thinking of adding this machine. I’ll watch your progress. It would be interesting to have you on the podcast to talk about your thoughts on the Deus.
Great machine, I am still learning every day with my Deus. Love the portability of it, and the batteries last all day. I wish there was a "hot" key to swap in/out of the XY screen from the standard horseshoe. In your test garden bury some deep nickels, and see if 17.7khz works the best for hitting them (7 inches and more). With Full Tones enabled, 12khz gives me some weird VDI numbers/tones on deep nickels. I switched over to tracking on my ground balancing, so I let the Deus handle the changes (I also use the Ground Balance notching).
I like the X/Y screen, but I think the horseshoe gives me a little more information. I'll try a deep nickel in 12khz and let you know how it rings up. I don't pay much attention to the VDI when getting what appears to be a deep signal. Most deep signals even have a little iron grunt in them too... especially on smaller items. Tracking GB is good - I like using it in areas without much iron. Thanks for the info, Nick! HH
The deus is a killer machine for sure. . Minelab has the Equinox coming out soon. I think that one is worth a look as well. I'm impressed with the technology behind it.
Machines get better and better every year and wish i had the means to purchase 2nd machine. I do like my AT pro but never know if another machine in that same area would be more effective. thanks for sharing
Nice tutorial. I run a heavy E-Trac. I recently purchased a Swingy Thingy and liked it at first but now I'm noticing it is making my neck hurt because the thing pushes on the back of my neck with the weight of the detector pulling it down. I saw your answer about the E-Trac would be your go to if it was lighter. Is it because it's a deeper machine?
I think the Deus and ETrac are similar when it comes to depth, but the ETrac has a much better target ID. I find myself digging a lot more iron with the Deus, but the light weight is a huge factor for me. I have a Swingy Thingy as well and it helps to redistribute the weight of the ETrac, but the weight is still there. HH!
I knew you would like the deus it's an amazing machine just in case you didn't know if you prefer two tones you can select the amount of tones you want to use and you can even select how those tones sound in the expert menu's.....so the big question is do you think it's the best detector you've ever used lol GL&HH Simon
Thanks Simon - and yes, I like running in Full Tones now too. To answer your question, if the E-Trac were built more like the Deus, that would be my main machine. Deus wins only because of light weight and wireless technology. Looking very much forward to trying the new Equinox! HH
Tarheel Diggin' I had a shot of one of the prototype machines and from the limited time I had with it I'm very very impressed with it 2 minutes into using it at an organised dig I found a 1836 silver florin at the entrance to the field where everyone had walked over to get into start digging so I was sold straight away lol
Great vid. Can't wait for part 2. Just received my deus a week ago. Loving it so far.
Good info on the xp Matt. Thanks. Will be watching your channel. Great show with 7 tonight

Could you help me with my deus as the number in the middle of the screen will go from a high number to a low number with a half inch of movement

Thanks Matt, great instructional video! good job!
Hi can I use this setup in the forest?
What coil do you use the LF or the new HF or x35 with your settings and what tones Full ? Old post but curious on your setting's and coil's used.
With the settings mentioned in this video, I'm using the HF elliptical coil. Full tones.
Very good info Matt happy holidays to you.

Thanks Randy - yes, I've watched a ton of TH-cam videos on the Deus as well. Very helpful for sure! HH

Hi you doing mr tar hill I have the deus1 and using the 5.2 and I’m using the x35/11 coil what is a good civil war relic program for deep relics
Very good but you could have done away with the first 5-1/2minutes and got to the point much quicker.
Thanks for the feedback, Rich - much appreciated! HH
Hope it didn't come off as an insult....just an honest opinion.
