Viewpoint and taste varies from person to person... Performance AND years of acting experience matter so much
I think Austin was better, he put a lot of himself into the movie and the moves he had to do wasn’t easy, all the stuff the other guy had to do was be fat and father, getting upset more and more is normal , they picked the wrong person to get the Oscar

Who the hell writes this stuff … Austin couldn’t have been any more gracious when Brendan won the Oscar, even though it basically was a’welcome’ back gift. No one in their right mind could think that Brendan’s performance outweighed Austin’s.
I like Brandon but after seeing both movies Austin's performance was so astounding, so inspired, so maticulous and AUSTIN was so fearless in his portryal there truly is NO comparison. I think they gave it to Brandon because of his past his portyal was depressing and anyone can wear a fat suit and be depressing, there was no genius spark there like there is With Austin's performancxe. I think the Oscars ALWAYS gives the award to the wrong person because they all know each other, are neighbors, their kids hang around with other stars kids, etc. it's just ALL SO RIGGED IN SOME WAY.
Austin was way better, did his homework, even though Brendon is a good actor, he just put on weight and a fat suit
It is not true that Austin Butler had a smirk on his face when he didn’t win the Oscar! He stood up and clapped and was very gracious. I’m not sure why you make up stories like this, but it’s very demeaning and sad. ☹️
Totally agree he was happy for him not upset but I still believe he should of won after his hard work and dedication and he was used terribly during the Oscars.
Hands down it was Austin all the way. He got robbed. He gave up 2years of his life to play Elvis. Who else can do that❤
Brendan Fraser literally could not beat Austin Butler outside of the U.S. where his comeback story and Me Too narrative wasn't relevant or considered, plus he just acts like Brendan Fraser in one of interviews.
Austin Butler won the UK Oscar equivalent since 1947 British Academy BAFTA, Irish Academy international IFTA, Australian Academy AACTA International, Catalonia Spain Sant Jordi, South African Online Film Critics, Foreign Press Golden Globe ect. and the states have an agenda against first lead roles.
The Oscars have a history of voting along the narrative of an actor's carrer achievement, or lifetime achievement or comeback stories. Watch a Fraser interview and speech? They're Charlie from the Whale. People in the states knew him personally over the decades. Everything I said is accurate, otherwise Fraser would have won head to head where the playing field was even. Internationally the voters hadn't worked with either of them, nor were they the ones who owed Fraser reparation. Fraser plays himself, and the same guy in a room. Butler plays various personalities over 3 decades on and off the concert stage. Just the musical scenes alone are award worthy, throw in the private life moments and it's not close. Seriously, ask yourself why Fraser couldn't win with Film academies in The UK, Ireland and Australia, or media in Spain and South Africa if he was so undeniable?
