The Freightliner has diminished the features that Mercades has done over the years, for the sake of costs and sales.
Your right down time under warranty work can be terrible, when you're at the mercy of the repair shop.
The quality of electronics that run the truck aren't reliable and need constant recalibration for all segments to work properly.
Namely Anti crash, lane fade, cruise control, which all tie into one feed, when one goes down, the entire system goes down with it.
A poor system that's never been address to improve the usefulness of the features.
Freightliner mid-roof so you can get under all those overhead pipes at the shipper/receiver.
No don't keep that international !!!
Lease a peterbilt or KW both did me well I just started my lease with a 2024 KW and proud to say I haven’t had problems 🤞🏾
If I was going Lease, which I did with Prime, I'd get a newer truck or at least a different truck. Just because you're paying for it and that shipper spilled that stuff on your truck. So I'd definitely get a different truck, plus with Lease, you'll be able to go faster. But like people are saying, rates are low but you do you brother.. Keep up the good work brotha and good luck with the lease. I'm personally tired of the bath mouthing about leasing. If they were as BAD as people say it would have died out a long time ago with the dinosaurs. Sure there are bad leasing programs out there. Hell there's good and bad to anything in what we call LIFE. I've been trucking for 40 years with the last 30 years just driving weekends as a casual driver for a supermarket chain out here in Commidfornia. I've been a State/Fed auditor fulltime for 30 of those years. I just retired a few weeks ago and my plans are to do more trucking and possibly do a lease with a company such as Prime to see the country and own per say my truck at least through the terms of the lease. Right now I'm living that dream through TH-cam content makers like yourself.

When I least my first truck with prime , it was the same truck I was in as a company driver. It’s a truck that I was familiar with and comfortable with. Finished that lease and started another lease with a full size freightliner and was in the shop my first load outta pittston.

You have a good head on your shoulders. You know whats best for you. They will own you during this lease purchase. I've owned my own and you've got to learn to fix a lot on your own or these shops will eat you alive. They prey on lease purchase. I just hope you don't get swindled man. Big companies like Prime, Swift and JB ruin good drivers and good work ethic like you. Hope to see you out there sometime man. Just be sure to read that fine print.
New warranty service guarantees, get you a new truck and pay it off asap. Your young and hopefully without a lot of debt, this is the time to have a low overhead business debt. Being your own boss has some serious advantages, especially if your a good strong business minded person!

Hey I went lease after 2 months as a company driver I kept the truck I started with because it was a 22 freightliner with 78k miles on it. I keep up with the Maintence on it as far as tired oil changes. If I need it I get it done.. hadn’t been in the shop for any outstanding problems just regular maintence My lease will be complete in nov I’m getting another freighliner. But it’s up to you. Happy to see you upgrading lease.. i feel I made the right decision going lease..

@@traceyalbritton6585 Do lease purchase on your next truck . I have a 2018 Cascadia at Prime , I ordered it in 2017 and paid off in 2020. I have been running for over three years without a truck payment but I plan on ordering a new Lease purchase this summer. After truck is paid off the fixed costs are just $100 for insurance and QC rental , no over mileage or Apu fees.. I have a Freightliner , has almost 800k all solo miles and I will buy another Freightliner ..
Go with a New truck that has a factory warranty. Stay with a bright color. Get a truck with all the options that will make your traveling fun.

Good luck with the lease route but be careful. As for a truck, you're best off with a Cascadia or a Peterbilt 579 but for tanker, you're best off with a mid-roof. Its not quite as high but you'll save a bit on fuel, which is a good thing. Im a lease operator, but not with Prime, and I'd love an aerodynamic truck. Unfortunately, im stuck with a '22 Kenworth W900 mid-roof pulling dry and reefer vans. A highrise is the better route for van type trailers but tanker and flatbed, a mid-roof is ideal. I have a 475 X-15 Cummins and currently im getting around 5.6 MPG pulling an average of 30,000 lbs and driving at 65 MPH. Thats terrible fuel mileage.
Yeah that’s pretty bad. Maybe try driving a little slower to help save on fuel.
@VezOnTheRoad Even at 55 mph only gets me about 6. I've been doing this for over 20 years. I know every possible trick for just about everything, including how to save fuel. I also regularly run through areas that are use to getting feet of snow, not inches.

In my opinion Wait B 4 you upgrade.
Freight is soft right now, it's an election year.
No body is doing anything for major shipping I'd say stay a company driver for a bit longer.
That upgrade will still be there.
It would be a bad move should you take the upgrade then the bottom falls deeper with rates, and availability of loads.
The future could show you "revenue is only enough to pay on the truck, very little for yourself".
Don't let them flash this new tractor at you, then it becomes difficult to pay for.

Vez, I’m no expert but depending on the payment difference, I’d go with a new truck. You’ve had a few problems with big bird already and she’s attracted to dumpsters. I would think a new truck would have a warranty of some sort

Are you going to have a net after taxes of at least 1 1/2 times more than a company driver? If yes, then do it, if no, it's not worth the extra headache.

I start prime feb 26th in the tanker division. I have 1 yr and a half of diesel technician expierence with Penske. I could really save money going lease and fix things myself but i heard horror stories about lease especially during election yr. Definately will keep watching your videos for updates for now im going company.
I’ve heard those horror stories too, but ultimately, I had to make a decision for myself. Understanding that everyone’s experience varies, I chose to believe in my own potential for success. Plus, having a background in mechanics definitely comes in handy when working on my truck. I might need to ask you for help one day 😂
