    Hey, 1st off congrats. I'm studying for my cdl now and plan on applying to Prime soon. I've been watching your videos and hope you keep up them coming! They're definitely helpful and informative! Thanks for them.

      Thank you! I was in your place studying for my CDL not long ago and watching other videos of people documenting their experience, and since I like making videos, glad I could give back. Good luck to you!

    sometimes getting somewhere like that early is good, you both might be able to sneak a 34 in while under a load. so once the load picks up you and your trainer both start on new clocks. Since he has to be on duty in the passenger seat while you are driving at least to start with

    • @TruckingWithPrentiss
      @TruckingWithPrentiss  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh small world lol. It was actually a convenient place to be on wait time since there were services around in walking distance, which won't always be the case on long waits. Thank you!

      @@TruckingWithPrentiss yes it is. You got lucky there with having stuff close by. I see Prime going into Hydro a lot so you might be back this way hauling stuff out of there.

    Don't go lease bro. Get your experience and dip. Unless you can find a good fleet manager. They have favoritism. Be careful, it's a typical mega carrier. Good luck out there brother.

      My plan has always been to go company first to get my experience, and to get my year done with them. I want to eventually go with a company that has regional or local work, but at least in my opinion, prime is a good way to get my foot in the door.

    • @TruckingWithPrentiss
      @TruckingWithPrentiss  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the input and you are right. since this video I have been in with my trainer as he interacted with shippers and receivers. I now know that this learning experience is more than just driving the truck.

    • @thetexastrucker7934
      @thetexastrucker7934 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I was going to say the same thing. Why aren't you going with ur trainer to check in?? Especially during TNT. You need to learn how to interact with these people and know what to say and what not to say. Unless he just doesn't want you there. Still at least get out and move around.

  • @truckermil1717

    Yes planet fitness or LA fitness is great too have for workouts and showers also make sure you have Lyft and Uber app downloaded know some areas we went in Lyft didn't have a lot of drivers available because being stuck in the truck at the docks for hours is draining at times no matter how cool you guys are everyone needs a break from one another

    • @TruckingWithPrentiss
      @TruckingWithPrentiss  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I agree, any excuse to get out the truck during long waits is a good thing. I have Uber, but you make a good point so I'll have to get Lyft too. Thanks for the advice!

    Understand that a mega carrier ownes lots and because of that they owe lots too. Their main concern is themselves you along with everyother driver is secondary concern

    • @TruckingWithPrentiss
      @TruckingWithPrentiss  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed, it's a business first and foremost. To me Prime seems like a good stepping stone for me or anyone else new to trucking to get their foot in the door, one of many different ways. After my year with them I know I'll have more options to go elsewhere if I want.

      Actually that’s a good video idea so look for a truck tour video coming soon! I brought more stuff with me now that I’m on my own truck and have all the storage space to myself. I brought a pillow with me and ended up buying another one from Walmart. I don’t actually eat all my meals from the truck stop, I treat myself sometimes with fast food but for the most part I try to buy groceries once a week, it’s cheaper and healthier that way. I’ll talk about that other stuff in the video but thanks for the idea and good luck OTR!

    • @TruckingWithPrentiss
      @TruckingWithPrentiss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest the truck stops have been better because they are more private, but I'll take a pf shower over no shower. I figure if I can use my pf membership at least 5 times a month then it's worth it to keep, hopefully more, but I know it's not always going to be possible to get to one, especially now since I'm on my trainers truck and we're running as a team, once I start running my own truck I can make it happen more during my off times

    • @thetexastrucker7934
      @thetexastrucker7934 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll take the under on that five times a month pf showers. I'll say once a month bc you don't come across them too often, some have small parking lots and difficult to get inside the parking lot, and when I do find one you simply don't have the time to stop for a shower. You just happen to be stuck in that town that has one for a day but that doesn't happen often. Good luck with training and keep us posted.
