For anyone like me, curious of who every part represents; here's a list !! Intro B : Hawkfrost who died near the lake reappers in the Dark Forest, breaking through the water Part 1 : OCs, Stealthfur and Aspenflame fight against each other, both alive and in the Dark Forest Part 2 : OCs, black tabby kills a cat at the moonstone. His blood pours on the moonstone, and the siamese takes hold of the now free body Part 3 : Antpelt feels out of place in Windclan but fits right in among the warriors of the Dark Forest Part 4 : OC, Cloudynight looks confidently at the sky with a mouth full of blood, but is seen trudging through the Dark Forest with an unsure expression Part 5 : Tigerstar and Darkstrip headbutt softly, Darkstripe looking worried as Tigerstar phase into the Dark Forest. Darkstripe's body lays crying in the water. Part 6 : OC, Sleepyhollow dies leading a rebellion against Starclan and ends up in the Dark Forest. Part 7 : Thistleclaw plays in the water with Snowfur, but stumble angrily into the Dark Forest waters. Part 8 : AU Firestar, Fireeyes burns down the forest and sinks into the angry river. Part 9 : OC, Eelface stands next to her dead brother feeling betrayed by Star Clan, and reluctantly accepts her destiny as a DF cat. Part 10 : Hawkfrost catches a fish, but in the Dark Forest dreams of destroying all light. Part 11 : OCs, Emry and Moonlily. The brown she-cat cries over the blond she-cat dead body; she arises from the water and is confronted by the blonde now Starclan she-cat Part 12 : Ashfur looks into the lake before being killed by Hollyleaf, he awakens in the Dark Forest. Part 13 : Flametail drowns into the lake. He's lured into the Dark Forest, where Brokenstar orders Ivypaw to kill him. Tigerheart defends his brother. Part 14 : Ivypaw is under the tutelage of Hawkfrost, and she fights against Antpelt in the Dark Forest. Part 15 : Antpelt and Breezepelt train in the Dark Forest, gaining more and more wounds as time go by. Antpelt seems scared as he battles Ivypaw, and disappears for good under her attacks. Part 16 : Snowtfut looks eerily calm in a snowy night despite the trail of blood he created, but is terrified and clings desperately to a tree in the DF. Part 17 : Tigerstar fights and dies at the hand of Scourge to Firestar's shock. The tabby tom walks in the DF and coughs up blood because of his wounds, looking furious. Part 18 : Mapleshade thinks of her kits and looks grief-stricken; but runs through the Dark Forest with ease. A crazed grin finds it way on her face Part 19 : OC, Poppyseed kills her corrupt leader with deathberries but goes too far. She dies in a similar manner and must face the consequences of her actions in the Dark Forest. Part 20 : Darktail faces Onestar at the lake, and claws his way out of the DF waters. Thinking of Onestar, he slams his paw on the ground with rage. Part 21 : OC, Crowsong follows a raven's trail under the stars with a frown. She ends up in the DF, her white curly fur now a sleek black coat and a haunting look on her face. Part 22 : Hawkfrost is staring at Leopardstar and Mistyfoot with animosity. In the DF, he oversees Ivypaw's training and smirks. Part 23 : OC, A sand-colored cat pushes another over the edge of a cliff : he smirks and seems satisfied with his actions. But among the waters of the Dark Forest he stumbles and lays, seemingly defeated and regretful.
Man on the Moon (Jayfeather MAP) was really good. Roxanne (Squilf and Ashfur) was good too. Change Your Mind (Bramble and Fire) was awesome. This is amazing though, you right!
agreed, It the kind of stare that you will stare at for many moments trying to figure out what their thinking, their emotion... and their motive. but such a small glimpse so you can never know. sending chills down your spine and through you ribs, and nervous system.
This isn't just a MAP- it's a culmination of some of the greatest talents and stories from the warriors community as a whole! Absolutely stellar work, everyone who participated! you have created a work of art that is easily one of the most creative and awe-inspiring works the warriors fandom has ever seen.
@@scourge176 sorry, I didn't mean to imply that 5 giants (and other MAPs) wasn't incredible. It definitely still is, I just think this map is equally creative in a lot of different ways!
Okay wow the parts themselves are good, but combined they make a masterpiece,, Like the song and the theme and ohmygodiloveit Man I've never been more hyped for a video thank you for making this??? Masterpiece??? God work??? Whatever you say about this video it will always be a lie, because no words can describe how great this map is
tbh this is probably the most cinematic warrior cats MAP ive ever seen , like ITS RIGHT UP THERE WITH FIVE GIANTS ;w; !! congrats to everyone who participated !!!! yall did so good :D
This is a visually stunning project, enthralling to the eyes. I love the unique double-paneled formatting and the visual effects it permits: the contrast between the cool blues of life and the warm reds and browns of the Dark Forest, as well as the way some animators mirrored the panels' movement or composition or else had action sort of flow between the panels. And the way the motion in each part matches the rhythm of the song is impeccable. Individual feedback: -TurnipStewdios: The level of detail here-the sheen to every pebble on the shore-is incredible. I adore the motion of the water in both panels; it looks so real, and I love that the timing of its swell is the same on each side. -Kaida Animations: I can only imagine the difficulty of creating 3D models for multiple characters and environmental elements (and it’s only your first 3D Warriors animation??). The movement here is so smooth and the way you time the leap and sudden camera motion matches up nicely with the cats’ tumbling into the right panel. -raevei: The style is beautiful, looks almost painted. The lighting is absolutely gorgeous, particularly on the moonstone. A couple of these shots I was convinced were 3D. I love the flow of motion at the end, with one eye closing and the other widening. -Selket: The host of ghostly figures stalking along conveys such an eerie mood, and I like how the direction of their march matches the padding feet in the left panel. I also love the windblown motion of the grass. -Wynde Weynilard: How do you have so few subscribers? Your animation is so smooth and the rhythm of it is spot-on. I love the perfectly-paced leaps and the curving sweep of Cloudynight's tail. -LolzNeo: The partially lineless style is very pleasing, as is the color scheme in the left panel. Darkstripe's expressions are pretty adorable, and I love how Tigerstar passes from one panel to the next, in the flesh to in the shadow. -GoblinHound: Your compositions are super interesting; I love the framing effect of the tree branches in both panels. Sleepyhollow's facial motions are impressively smooth. -Feliecho: The animation is really smooth, particularly those splashes, and I love how the water motion and dripping fur are repeated successively from one panel to the other. -Finchwing: This part is really stunning; the sort of mirrored overhead motion in opposite directions, coupled with the music, can draw the breath away. And the camera motion and pacing are fantastic, the zoom in from the flame to Fireeyes' face and the successive tail-y transition to an overhead view. -Amelia Bothe: There's so much movement in this part, even the little details like dripping blood and twitching fur. I love how we get the beginnings of Eelface smearing her face in one shot, and see the completed effect in the next with a dramatic head turn. -Sagutoyas: I love the look of those twisted Dark Forest trees and ringed clouds. There's a lot of great motion here and it fits together really well. Hawkfrost's malicious paw clench is a perfect ending for the part and certainly matches the music. -megasaurus: Your art style is really pretty! I adore the look of the red fur and clouds combined with the blue skies and eyes. The opening shot of the Dark Forest is beautifully composed, and I love how the upward camera motion is paralleled in both panels. -XxLunaWarriorxX: The shots are really well-composed here, and there's a nice variety of perspectives. I love the downward movement of Ashfur's drowning contrasted with the upward movement of his rising in the Dark Forest, accompanied by the contrast of the left panel's darkening with the right's growing glow. -Ursiday: I love all the character movement in here, Brokenstar's cut-throat gesture and the threatening sweep of Ivypaw's tail. It's so cool how you depicted the fiery trees of the Dark Forest reflected at the bottom of the water. -Dark Tale: You've got a really pleasing art style, and even the style of animation is super fun to watch-that spring onto the tree and swing of the paw. The movement in the right panel is so dynamic, which contrasts nicely with the subtler animation on the left. -Bunny Guin: There's so much emotion in these body movements and facial expressions; really makes you feel for Antpelt. Curling up in the nest to die (somehow the overhead view works really well for this), collapsing back in the river in despair, eyes widening in shock... -Hollyleevs: I love the rhythmic motion here and how beautifully it aligns with the music-the wind-tugged fur, the dramatic zoom out, the desperate panting. There's so much emotion to the animation. -ArtsyFeathers: The circular camera motion here is really impressive, and the movement in general is so smooth. Fantastic action scenes, and I love how Tigerstar simultaneously rears back his head in both panels and then has it thrown down; nice parallel. -Val Gomi: I really like the look of the kits' ghostly reflections in the water and the large, mushroomed roots of the Dark Forest. The run cycle is super smooth and nicely timed to the music. And I love how the wind at the end sweeps across both panels, how it tugs at Mapleshade's mane and sends ripples across the grass. -Black Lory: The shot of Poppyseed’s back trotting away from the corpse creates such a sinister, atmospheric scene, and I love the rhythmic motion of her tail. The lip-sync is great, especially with the accompanying movement of eyes and fur. -Outkorp: Some really cool posing and movement in this way. I really enjoy the shot of the water washing over rocks, and then the way you tip the perspective on that scene. I love the symmetry of both ending shots, the one with the horizon framed in the middle and the other with a cat. -Louixie: The continuity between panels is amazing-first, the alignment of the paw step with the eye-opening (Crowsong’s gaze is chilling…), and then the burst from the left panel into the right (the flying feathers really accentuate its intensity). Something about that head turn at the end looks so three-dimensional. -Keilidh Bradley: Your linework is so smooth! I like the composition of the shots, framing characters between Hawkfrost’s ears and setting him against his shadowy, imposing father, whose eyes are never shown. I also like how his expression in each panel matches at the end, though one looking up and the other down. -Ruby Mushroom: Amazing movement in this-I love the character’s tail in the cliff attack, undulating up and down and forming a sort of wave with his body. Very pleasing to watch. The spatter and drip of the dark liquid as he collapses is also really well-animated.
i love this interpretation of the dark forest, and i especially like the fact that several cats are genuinely terrified and/or miserable in the dark forest. i kind of wish this was how it was written in the books, since it would make the whole “wanting to break out of cat hell to kill everyone” plot point make more sense
You know, you gave me an idea - we know that the Dark Forest can corrupt cats. What if it slowly, subtly altered *why* they wanted to get out? It would have gradually changed their goal from "get out of cat hell so we can get our revenge and improve the state of our existence" to "get out so we can kill things." Most of them wouldn't have even realized it was happening. And the rest? Some of them just wouldn't care. Some cats are truly irredeemable, are so self-centered and cruel that they would burn the world down for their revenge. The outliers, like Snowtuft? Too scared to stand up to the corrupted ones. All this begs a question about the corrupting effect. The Place of No Stars emphasizes the negative feelings of its inhabitants and visitors, in a way that is not obvious to the victims. We know that the Dark Forest cats appeared to be transforming WindClan's moor into a Dark Forest replica. Is this intentional? Did the Place of No Stars *want* to expand, to grow, to make all of existence like itself? For that matter, did it want anything? Is this just a blind impulse, like cancer cells multiplying until they overrun a body? Or is there something more - a malevolent, alien intelligence at work? Do you see what I'm getting at? I wonder if the Dark Forest *made itself an army* so that it could expand. Consider how the spatial warping that kept cats apart began to fail when Tigerstar took over. This could just be a manifestation of its inherent properties, or a deliberate effect; the latter has some worrying implications. Alternatively, the "aura" could just be a sort of spiritual pollution from all of the clans' garbage (read: sinners) getting dumped there, which has its own sort of horror.
This turned out so incredible, omg! I love how the cat at 0:55 disappears into the water, that's so chilling. And I love how the screen darkens when Ashfur realizes he's in the dark forest at 1:25 that's such a neat detail. ALSO also the way the cat begins speaking on the left and switches over to the right is a really great idea at 2:15 Every part looks perfect wow, the split screen makes everything so much more interesting. Props to you, Amelia for hosting this and from what I've seen people say, being a great communicator with all the participants!! If you ever host another MAP I'd love to see it 👌
Can I just say that my absolute most favorite part out of this whole map is the Snowtuft part? Legit the contrast between his indifference sitting in front of the path of blood and his raw terror as he clings to the tree in the Dark Forest... And the music during it... it's almost poetic and says a lot, for some reason. Not about Snowtuft himself, but something... Someone who thought that they were on top of the world because they were 'bad' but when they entered a world where the darkness in everyone was filling the air like a haze of toxic gas, they no longer saw themselves as anything but a small bug who could be stepped on at any second. We don't know much about Snowtuft, but he stuck around despite being treated like he was mud. He kept crawling back as if he was desperate for something. But, we'll never know his story so that's just something to think about. We all knew he was afraid. But, he also was desperate.
Yes, I loved that part as well! I could never choose a favorite from these but that one certainly hit hard, for the exact reasons you mentioned. Man, the haunting music and his desperate panting against the tree...
Bro this is absolutely stunning! I love how all the characters are portrayed as if they actually don’t want to be there. I see it as a reminder that this is literally *cat hell.*
ok i’ll be honest, i was skeptical about the dual views the parts needed, but it was pulled off a lot better than expected! there was little issue with focus and where the eye was supposed to be directed towards, and the scenes compliment each other rather than feeling overwhelming and like too much is happening to really take it all in this really shows talent from all of the participants
This was such an interesting and gorgeous MAP! The layout was super unique and the colour themes were beautiful. I love the stories told in this and the different characters, it’s such a nice MAP, everyone did so good!

This is the most interesting, unique, cinematic, stunningly animated map ive ever seen. Everything about this works. The colour palette, the song, the mood, the concept...it all comes together to immaculately capture some of the best elements of Warriors, executed in a way I've never seen before. Easily my new favourite map!! Thank you to the talented and wonderful people who all had a hand in creating this masterpiece.
Everyone did amazing jobs! It was so pulling to watch I had to rewatch a few times 😅 Smare/Amelia the flame/ember effects and the depth of the intro were so well touched! Turnip the star effect and the black/orange water was done absolutely super! Kaida the movement between the screens was so smooth and the dispersing sparkles really pulled it together! Raevei the color work of the left holy sh- it's so pretty and the shading of the right is radiant! Selket the ghost effect and depth is really amazing! Wynde/DrBubbles the emotions and smoothness of the changing lighting is incredible! Lolz ahh the movement between parts i- and the body language hot dam GoblinHound the mud/blood and the lightning sparks is stunning! Feliecho the water splashes and smoothness is gorgeous! Finchwing the smoke/aurora effect was done incredibly! Amelia the expressions are so well done and the emotions they give off are just amazing! Sagutoyas the flowy movements and splashing with the water is stunning! Megasaurus the lighting, the emotions and cuts just chefs kiss! LunaWarrior the shadows and the pure shock of Ashfurs face absolutely stunning! Ursiday the super smooth falling and the movements of -the names escape me- were drop dead amazing! Dark Tale the smoothness made me think I was watching melted butter, the movements with amazingly well done! Bunny Guin the way -im really bad with warrior cat names huh- just got snapped and melted was stunningly cool! Hollyleeves the fur movement was so cool and really beautiful! Kressent the smooth 360° shot and the walking were done incredibly well! Val Gomi that water is gorgeous and the run/fur animation was riveting to watch! Black Lory holy mother the lip sync was so cool! Outkorp the liquid just dripping off and flying around absolutely enthralling! Louixie ahh that movement through splits was so done beautifully! Keby the angles and smoothness of Ivy-whats her face- being thrown wowowow amazing! Ruby Mushroom the expressions are so clear the sheer selfpride/tiredness are just incredible! Maybe I should start watching more maps while high this was a whole movie straight out of disney level talent

for anyone who was confused watching this and identifying the characters!!!! there’s a large variety of stuff in here, since this has canon characters, ocs, and aus all in one. i got the information from the descriptions of the individual parts (which means i didn’t include much speculation). if any of this is inaccurate, let me know and i’ll fix it p.s. this map is amazing and it was worth the wait 1: forest, no characters 2: unknown 3: unknown 4: ocs. dark forest character told the dark tabby to bring a cat to the moonstone and kill them, blood pours into the moonstone and the dark forest cat possesses the dark tabby 5: antpelt 6: ocs. oc’s name is cloudynight, backstory unknown 7: darkstripe 8: ocs. the oc’s name is sleepyhollow. she was anti-starclan, and involved in a prophecy which she almost sabotaged by turning against starclan and her clan, beginning an uprising. she was killed in the final battle 9: thistleclaw and snowfur 10: au where instead of saving the clan, firestar burns it down. his name is changed to fireeyes since in this au, his eyes are fire-colored, not his fur 11: ocs. oc’s name is eelface. she killed her brother and was sent to the dark forest for it 12: hawkfrost 13: ocs. oc’s names are emry and moonlily, backstory unknown 14: au where ashfur goes to the dark forest when he dies 15: the scene where flametail gets lost in the dark forest after his death. brokenstar orders ivypool to kill him, but tigerheart defends him 16: unknown, possibly ivypool killing antpelt 17: antpelt’s death 18: snowtuft 19: tigerstar 20: mapleshade 21: ocs. oc’s name is poppyseed. she was a medicine cat who put to sleep corrupt leaders with deathberries, but eventually got carried away and started putting innocent cats to sleep. this is also a human oc turned into a warriors oc according to the owner 22: unknown 23: ocs. oc’s name is crowsong. she was a white cat born into a clan of black cats. feeling left out and ashamed of her appearance, she used tar to make herself appear black, and started killing the cats who wronged her. her friend killed her afterwards 24: hawkfrost 25: ocs. oc’s name and backstory unknown help this took 30 minutes to make
The idea of evil cats coming out of the black water like sandman is top tier Also everyone did an gorgeous job on their MAP parts! This one deserves to be one of the best warrior maps this decade
I love that there are some cats, like Darkstripe, Cloudynight, Snowtuft, and others who regret what they have done and are genuinely horrified or upset at being in the Dark Forest. I kind of wish that's how it would be in the actual books. But I guess everyone there is happy to be in cat hell when hell is meant to be a place of suffering lol. Also THAT'S RIGHT ASHFUR TO THE DARK FOREST WHERE YOU BELONG FOR TRYING TO MURDER INNOCENT CATS lol
@@Su1xq no it's Ashfur-Hollyleaf had green eyes and is in StarClan. Ashfur had the slit throat as shown and blue eyes. as of the broken code is a Dark Forest cat now.

This is such a masterpiece! everything from the dark and grim color scheme with reds, blacks and greys, to each transition to frame being the same, I also adore the way how some of these animators managed to transition both sides of the frames to one animation, very clever. This has got to be one of my favorite all time MAPS!
It's like a dream. Btw, if you guys don't ever watch these MAPs in VR, you are really missing out. Even though they aren't animated for VR, something about using a VR headset still gives the video a three dimensional depth. Awesome experience.
This is one of the greatest MAPs I have ever witnessed watching. Easily now one of my all time favorites. Each and every single one of these artists, including yourself Amelia, deserve so much praise, recognition and follows for how well this came out. I got chills of excitement and awe from every part. Not a single one was lacking anywhere. And combining them all only blew my breath away. All of you are getting a follow from me and I congratulate you all for making such a masterpiece. WOW!! Absolutely *phenomenal!* Each and every person that participated in this map has extraordinary talent. I don’t know the first thing when it comes to warrior cats, but that doesn’t change how beautiful the outcome of this project was in my eyes. Incredible.

OUUUUGH THIS IS *SO* GOOD! There are a ton of underrated animators in here that I definitely need to check out. Some of the transitions between the left/right panels are seamless!
MAN this is gorgeous! Every single part is FULL of beautiful art, and many of the parts have PHENOMENAL animation, this is an awesome map! Absolutely beautiful
I like the idea of the dark forest being an endless swamp you can't escape from. And I also like that most of these cats in the map look like they don't even want to be there. In the books you actually never hear from a cat that regrets being evil and wants to leave the dark forest. Sorry for the bad English. Edit: 1:53 That was actually cute. Seeing tears and stuff like he REALLY regrets what he's done. Dark Forest really is the hell for cats.

Gooosh this is so so beautiful, thank you for bringing this into the world. The only thing I wish this map had was an "ending" of sorts that tied up the theme of the vid, but even without that solace, GOD I love every single one of these parts
EEE everyone did such a good job. The map looks absolutely gorgeous!! I love the concept of this map and it’s a very unique way to go about the dark forest and I absolutely love it. The colors the smoothness of the animation and everyone’s style makes this map such a treat to watch. I’ve been looking forward to this once since I stumbled across it only to hand it come out on my birthday with made its release so much better haha.

this is absolutely FANTASTIC gosh, ive been so ready for this map since you announced it and i am even more pleased by the final result than i thought it would be!!!! everyone here did so well, and all the distinct styles and stories has me absolutely blown away
I like to imagine the dark forest cats suffer with extra pain from their victims and wrongdoings; mapleshade killing 3-4 cats, she suffers through those injuries every day, but has learned to mask it.
This map is just so great! The amazing emotions you all were able to capture is just outstanding! I love the mixture emotions all of them had when entering the Dark Forest! Sadness, Greif, Confusion, Anger, Happiness! It was so great! Amazing map, you all did a wonderful job!

I feel like this map really captures the grimy horrifying vibe of the Dark Forest that no other map has ever capture for me before. I dont know like, I got chills when I watched the cats emerging in the dark forest for the first time. Really good artistic vision on this one
This genuinely looks god damn BEAUTIFUL! Every animator, EVERY SINGLE ONE made a absolutely brilliantly animated piece. The animations are incredibly smooth and the colouring, shading and character designs look beautiful! Don't get me STARTED on the backgrounds! This is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL map and every single artist should be proud of themselves.
ok time to explain why each and every part is perfect intro: those trees look so good and those little floating red particles that appear the whole time as a theme???? i love it it sets the atmosphere so well part 1: the water looks uhhhh delicious as hell?? and the i love how i see the shock on hawkfrost's face as he emerges and realizes his life just ended and he'll be in this awful place forever, and his body on the left is cold and abandoned. his face is desperate i love it part 2: hhhhh i could FEEL the ground shake from where i watched it, the camera moving was so powerful. i think these are the same two cats? so i love the parallel, that even when both are dead, they're both fueled with conflict and hate, how suspicious and angry the amber eyed cat looks, and how tired of all the fighting the one-eyed cat looks, and when the amber eyed cat dies it just looks down in cold contempt, no longer scared, robbed of life's emotions part 3: EACH OF THESE STILLS COULD BE A PAINTING. The blood spattered on the moonstone is so beautiful and devastating, and i love how dejected the DF cat is even with a star on its forehead, as it means nothing here. part 4: aAAAAH the stepped-on ant signifying how antpelt feels compared to the rest of his clan, and how he's isolated and hunched over in life, but confident and ruthless (and deranged to be so) he seems in death. his mini scheming expression on the left is so telling (also those red sparks and the animation are so smooth and prettyyy) part 5: The slow motion is amazing!!! I love how i can pause when the cat is jumping and those red stars turn into little shooting stars. The perspective in the left side leaves me breathless. On the left, the cat looks shocked to have killed, but grows sure and confident, feeling unstoppable. On the right, the cat looks like it feels small and scared, not knowing what this place is or how to get out of it, or horrified by the fact that they'll never be able to escape. part 6: im gonna cry at this one. it's so fluid and the dark gray cat's little unsure grimace at the end? how (i think it may be the same cat) is half submerged and crying in death on the right side?? how i can feel the dark gray cat's trust being broken by their companion actually being a killer and part of the DF??? i love this part 7: this isn't a villain anymore; it's a broken, regret-filled cat who was confident and evil in life and now weeps for what they did. The tears and fur and blood dripping look simply incredible in this part. They look at their bloodstained paw in life and feel power; they look at it in death with disgust and apathy part 8: the splash of water in both parts makes me s a l i v a t e it's so well animated. I love seeing thistleclaw's resent and bitterness near water now as he's dead and alone; the happy moments spent with snowfur in his life mean nothing now. part 9: I love the parallel and the tail transition a lot, but also the dread-inducing violin part of the song fits so well here as the character prepares to possible kill an entire forest's worth of cats, and on the right side the character slowly submerges underwater, no longer able to drown. It almost looks like it's prepared to go somewhere and perhaps kill some more people?? and it doesn't even look like it cares, it's prepared to end your life with a look of detached fascination or dutiful resignation on its face. idk im intimidated and this cat doesn't even exist. part 10: As usual, BEAUTIFUL, and the fps is used to its fullest potential and every little detail is put in there, like the cat's disgust at licking the DF mud-water-blood thing, rubbing its face maybe out of habit, and never being able to wash off their sins committed with blind rage in life. also its fur colors are kept so?? consistent?? like im looking at a real cat with every measurement meticulously planned out i love everything about this part 11: those flickering lights dude im in LOVE. Hawk's expression at the word destroy is so perfect, and how he closes his claws over the sun?? I love it, and he's presented as a perky and attentive warrior in life, and what's haunting is that it doesn't change in his death, he's still chasing after something, but this time it's much more sinister. He sees his victims as nothing more than the fish he hunts as prey. part 12: The sides look CONNECTED. i love how spotless all the transitions are, and the red cat looks downright betrayed on the right, and how it looks like it faked mourning for a cat and then is surrounded by beautifully textured fire. And the starclan cat having the furious crying red cat reflected in its eyes is so suspenseful and a killer way to end the part part 13: and i am reminded; dying probably HURTS, dude. Ashfur is waking up into a pitiless and painful world, and i love how his eyes glow, i love the blood in the water and how starclan is watching him die, and how in shock and angry he looks at having just died right before ruining the lives of the people whose lives he wanted to ruin. i love how his red stars get brighter as he gets more dead and also angrier and driven to kill everyone.
part 14: This part is unique, and i love it for that. Flametail slowly drowning (ive heard drowning is a somewhat peaceful way to go?) and the dark forest under him, resembling lava. The regret on ivypool's face, the evil triumph on brokenstar's, and the defense and righteous anger on tigerheart?? i love that. But most of all, the end parallel of Flametail on the left peacefully and hazily letting go is just perfect paired with him breathing heavily, (ironically; breathing after he's died!) desperate for something; he's desperate to live. He doesn't want to die again for some sort of 'desitny' bullshit. He's scared. part 15: Can i just say, i love this artstyle and how the fur moves in it? yeah i can. And also both sides of this are hearbreaking. Ivypool, discontent and fooled that she's in starclan, is being taken advantage of by a monster. she's half his size; she doesn't know what she's doing. And in the DF? her legs are stained with the DF's mud, and she's being a perfectly manufactured killer, so far than what she thought was true when she was an apprentice. This song is mournful, because that's what most of this is. part 15: Again, this makes me fear mortality. Thanks, warrior cats fandom! that's what I expected to happen today when I went to you! Antpelt reassures himself as he goes to sleep, sure he'll wake up. He won't. He'll die in his sleep, and he'll be afraid and confused because his life really just was taken over by the DF. He doesn't want to die, and ivypool looks terrifying, consumed by her own fear of being killed by dead cats. He's stumbling, barely comprehending his sudden death before he fades again. This animation is disney tier and style, and i give his horror-fueled widening eyes a 100/10 part 16: this part is perfect in every way. How there's a dramatic zoom with the percussion part? How the two different styles on each side are perfect for the mood? How this fits so well with the theme; that he feels unstoppable, numb to the pain he's caused in life; he feels like the predator. But in death he's the prey, he's crying, he's sorry, he misses being alive when everything wasn't cold and dead and horrifying; he was faking in life. he was always a coward. being a terrible person isn't supposed to be glorified; he shouldn't feel badass for the things he's done in life. instead he feels vulnerable and pathetic and disgusting, and he's clutching onto the side of the tree for the last comfort and stability he's ever felt. part 17: That COUGH though. that 360 DEGREE TURN?? i love it so much! and it reminds me of how much power tigerstar had and then lost, taken away by a faint childhood memory, and how bent on revenge he is now. he hasn't stopped living yet, and he'll continue to live through all the pain. I love how firestar's face is shown at the same time as his glare, because that's who he's fixated on now. Someone else to blame, and therefore someone else to kill. part 18: Mapleshade looks so alone and beaten down on the left, and on the right, other than the smoothes run cycle known to man, she's delusional, a murderer, unmoved by the fact that it has all been her fault, and it ties so well to the book, that she welcomes this hell; it's her trophy now. part 19: This cat has just killed an ender (innocent or not is pending) and poisoned it, daintily walking away, and i love how the lyrics are passed on, because this cat thinks this means nothing, that they won't be affected, but the moon and stars are watching, and now they'll pay forever, coughing up blood and weighted with all their sins. part 20: I love the movement of the drops of liquid and the sparks here, and how the final confrontation seems to be burned into this cat's memory. Even in life, this cat has always been hateful and a killer. part 21: This part looks so smooth hh,, the symbolism of something happening with the feathers?? the change in expression from tired desperation to cold and detached contempt? that head turn???? so wonderful. The water ripples and bird shadows look real. And every movement aligns with the animation, from the discordant singing to the dramatic percussion. As the white cat disappears into the border, i feel like i witnessed a murder as someone poked and looked around for answers and paid the ultimate price. part 22: adfhashd the designs in this one look really good as does the real physical movement of ivypool's tumble! i love hawk's expressions, from his vicious satisfaction at watching ivypool become a killer, to his quiet disapproval or anger when alive and seeing mistyfoot be deputy, and i love how it seemed like mistyfoot could see his intentions, and how the parallel shows how a seemingly externally normal warrior could become such a terrible cat. And lastly, this might not be purposeful, but i love the fact that he always aimed to be second best, next to leopardstar or next to tigerstar. part 23: This cat is truimphant on the left; they just pushed a cat off a cliff in the dead of night, unseen and powerful. but in the DF they're old and tired and falls down, so weary of the death they celebrated while alive. the style of this and all the details on the cat's face are so amazing!!!!!!!

Part 2 : OCs, black tabby kills a cat at the moonstone. His blood pours on the moonstone, and the siamese takes hold of the now free body
Part 3 : Antpelt feels out of place in Windclan but fits right in among the warriors of the Dark Forest
Part 4 : OC, Cloudynight looks confidently at the sky with a mouth full of blood, but is seen trudging through the Dark Forest with an unsure expression
Part 5 : Tigerstar and Darkstrip headbutt softly, Darkstripe looking worried as Tigerstar phase into the Dark Forest. Darkstripe's body lays crying in the water.
Part 6 : OC, Sleepyhollow dies leading a rebellion against Starclan and ends up in the Dark Forest.
Part 7 : Thistleclaw plays in the water with Snowfur, but stumble angrily into the Dark Forest waters.
Part 8 : AU Firestar, Fireeyes burns down the forest and sinks into the angry river.

Part 12 : Ashfur looks into the lake before being killed by Hollyleaf, he awakens in the Dark Forest.
Part 13 : Flametail drowns into the lake. He's lured into the Dark Forest, where Brokenstar orders Ivypaw to kill him. Tigerheart defends his brother.
Part 14 : Ivypaw is under the tutelage of Hawkfrost, and she fights against Antpelt in the Dark Forest.
Part 15 : Antpelt and Breezepelt train in the Dark Forest, gaining more and more wounds as time go by. Antpelt seems scared as he battles Ivypaw, and disappears for good under her attacks.
Part 16 : Snowtfut looks eerily calm in a snowy night despite the trail of blood he created, but is terrified and clings desperately to a tree in the DF.
Part 17 : Tigerstar fights and dies at the hand of Scourge to Firestar's shock. The tabby tom walks in the DF and coughs up blood because of his wounds, looking furious.
Part 18 : Mapleshade thinks of her kits and looks grief-stricken; but runs through the Dark Forest with ease. A crazed grin finds it way on her face
Part 19 : OC, Poppyseed kills her corrupt leader with deathberries but goes too far. She dies in a similar manner and must face the consequences of her actions in the Dark Forest.
Part 20 : Darktail faces Onestar at the lake, and claws his way out of the DF waters. Thinking of Onestar, he slams his paw on the ground with rage.
Part 21 : OC, Crowsong follows a raven's trail under the stars with a frown. She ends up in the DF, her white curly fur now a sleek black coat and a haunting look on her face.
Part 22 : Hawkfrost is staring at Leopardstar and Mistyfoot with animosity. In the DF, he oversees Ivypaw's training and smirks.
Part 23 : OC, A sand-colored cat pushes another over the edge of a cliff : he smirks and seems satisfied with his actions. But among the waters of the Dark Forest he stumbles and lays, seemingly defeated and regretful.

Man on the Moon (Jayfeather MAP) was really good. Roxanne (Squilf and Ashfur) was good too. Change Your Mind (Bramble and Fire) was awesome. This is amazing though, you right!

THIS WAS THE WAY I FOUND OUT ABOUT THEM
This is a visually stunning project, enthralling to the eyes. I love the unique double-paneled formatting and the visual effects it permits: the contrast between the cool blues of life and the warm reds and browns of the Dark Forest, as well as the way some animators mirrored the panels' movement or composition or else had action sort of flow between the panels. And the way the motion in each part matches the rhythm of the song is impeccable.
Individual feedback:
-TurnipStewdios: The level of detail here-the sheen to every pebble on the shore-is incredible. I adore the motion of the water in both panels; it looks so real, and I love that the timing of its swell is the same on each side.
-Kaida Animations: I can only imagine the difficulty of creating 3D models for multiple characters and environmental elements (and it’s only your first 3D Warriors animation??). The movement here is so smooth and the way you time the leap and sudden camera motion matches up nicely with the cats’ tumbling into the right panel.
-raevei: The style is beautiful, looks almost painted. The lighting is absolutely gorgeous, particularly on the moonstone. A couple of these shots I was convinced were 3D. I love the flow of motion at the end, with one eye closing and the other widening.
-Selket: The host of ghostly figures stalking along conveys such an eerie mood, and I like how the direction of their march matches the padding feet in the left panel. I also love the windblown motion of the grass.
-Wynde Weynilard: How do you have so few subscribers? Your animation is so smooth and the rhythm of it is spot-on. I love the perfectly-paced leaps and the curving sweep of Cloudynight's tail.
-LolzNeo: The partially lineless style is very pleasing, as is the color scheme in the left panel. Darkstripe's expressions are pretty adorable, and I love how Tigerstar passes from one panel to the next, in the flesh to in the shadow.
-GoblinHound: Your compositions are super interesting; I love the framing effect of the tree branches in both panels. Sleepyhollow's facial motions are impressively smooth.
-Feliecho: The animation is really smooth, particularly those splashes, and I love how the water motion and dripping fur are repeated successively from one panel to the other.
-Finchwing: This part is really stunning; the sort of mirrored overhead motion in opposite directions, coupled with the music, can draw the breath away. And the camera motion and pacing are fantastic, the zoom in from the flame to Fireeyes' face and the successive tail-y transition to an overhead view.
-Amelia Bothe: There's so much movement in this part, even the little details like dripping blood and twitching fur. I love how we get the beginnings of Eelface smearing her face in one shot, and see the completed effect in the next with a dramatic head turn.
-Sagutoyas: I love the look of those twisted Dark Forest trees and ringed clouds. There's a lot of great motion here and it fits together really well. Hawkfrost's malicious paw clench is a perfect ending for the part and certainly matches the music.
-megasaurus: Your art style is really pretty! I adore the look of the red fur and clouds combined with the blue skies and eyes. The opening shot of the Dark Forest is beautifully composed, and I love how the upward camera motion is paralleled in both panels.
-XxLunaWarriorxX: The shots are really well-composed here, and there's a nice variety of perspectives. I love the downward movement of Ashfur's drowning contrasted with the upward movement of his rising in the Dark Forest, accompanied by the contrast of the left panel's darkening with the right's growing glow.
-Ursiday: I love all the character movement in here, Brokenstar's cut-throat gesture and the threatening sweep of Ivypaw's tail. It's so cool how you depicted the fiery trees of the Dark Forest reflected at the bottom of the water.
-Dark Tale: You've got a really pleasing art style, and even the style of animation is super fun to watch-that spring onto the tree and swing of the paw. The movement in the right panel is so dynamic, which contrasts nicely with the subtler animation on the left.
-Bunny Guin: There's so much emotion in these body movements and facial expressions; really makes you feel for Antpelt. Curling up in the nest to die (somehow the overhead view works really well for this), collapsing back in the river in despair, eyes widening in shock...
-Hollyleevs: I love the rhythmic motion here and how beautifully it aligns with the music-the wind-tugged fur, the dramatic zoom out, the desperate panting. There's so much emotion to the animation.
-ArtsyFeathers: The circular camera motion here is really impressive, and the movement in general is so smooth. Fantastic action scenes, and I love how Tigerstar simultaneously rears back his head in both panels and then has it thrown down; nice parallel.
-Val Gomi: I really like the look of the kits' ghostly reflections in the water and the large, mushroomed roots of the Dark Forest. The run cycle is super smooth and nicely timed to the music. And I love how the wind at the end sweeps across both panels, how it tugs at Mapleshade's mane and sends ripples across the grass.
-Black Lory: The shot of Poppyseed’s back trotting away from the corpse creates such a sinister, atmospheric scene, and I love the rhythmic motion of her tail. The lip-sync is great, especially with the accompanying movement of eyes and fur.
-Outkorp: Some really cool posing and movement in this way. I really enjoy the shot of the water washing over rocks, and then the way you tip the perspective on that scene. I love the symmetry of both ending shots, the one with the horizon framed in the middle and the other with a cat.
-Louixie: The continuity between panels is amazing-first, the alignment of the paw step with the eye-opening (Crowsong’s gaze is chilling…), and then the burst from the left panel into the right (the flying feathers really accentuate its intensity). Something about that head turn at the end looks so three-dimensional.
-Keilidh Bradley: Your linework is so smooth! I like the composition of the shots, framing characters between Hawkfrost’s ears and setting him against his shadowy, imposing father, whose eyes are never shown. I also like how his expression in each panel matches at the end, though one looking up and the other down.
-Ruby Mushroom: Amazing movement in this-I love the character’s tail in the cliff attack, undulating up and down and forming a sort of wave with his body. Very pleasing to watch. The spatter and drip of the dark liquid as he collapses is also really well-animated.

i love this interpretation of the dark forest, and i especially like the fact that several cats are genuinely terrified and/or miserable in the dark forest. i kind of wish this was how it was written in the books, since it would make the whole “wanting to break out of cat hell to kill everyone” plot point make more sense
You know, you gave me an idea - we know that the Dark Forest can corrupt cats. What if it slowly, subtly altered *why* they wanted to get out? It would have gradually changed their goal from "get out of cat hell so we can get our revenge and improve the state of our existence" to "get out so we can kill things."
Most of them wouldn't have even realized it was happening. And the rest? Some of them just wouldn't care. Some cats are truly irredeemable, are so self-centered and cruel that they would burn the world down for their revenge. The outliers, like Snowtuft? Too scared to stand up to the corrupted ones.
All this begs a question about the corrupting effect. The Place of No Stars emphasizes the negative feelings of its inhabitants and visitors, in a way that is not obvious to the victims. We know that the Dark Forest cats appeared to be transforming WindClan's moor into a Dark Forest replica. Is this intentional? Did the Place of No Stars *want* to expand, to grow, to make all of existence like itself? For that matter, did it want anything? Is this just a blind impulse, like cancer cells multiplying until they overrun a body? Or is there something more - a malevolent, alien intelligence at work?
Do you see what I'm getting at? I wonder if the Dark Forest *made itself an army* so that it could expand. Consider how the spatial warping that kept cats apart began to fail when Tigerstar took over. This could just be a manifestation of its inherent properties, or a deliberate effect; the latter has some worrying implications.
Alternatively, the "aura" could just be a sort of spiritual pollution from all of the clans' garbage (read: sinners) getting dumped there, which has its own sort of horror.
The feeling of being proud of someone you never met.

This turned out so incredible, omg! I love how the cat at 0:55 disappears into the water, that's so chilling. And I love how the screen darkens when Ashfur realizes he's in the dark forest at 1:25 that's such a neat detail. ALSO also the way the cat begins speaking on the left and switches over to the right is a really great idea at 2:15
Every part looks perfect wow, the split screen makes everything so much more interesting. Props to you, Amelia for hosting this and from what I've seen people say, being a great communicator with all the participants!! If you ever host another MAP I'd love to see it 👌
Can I just say that my absolute most favorite part out of this whole map is the Snowtuft part? Legit the contrast between his indifference sitting in front of the path of blood and his raw terror as he clings to the tree in the Dark Forest...
And the music during it... it's almost poetic and says a lot, for some reason. Not about Snowtuft himself, but something...
Someone who thought that they were on top of the world because they were 'bad' but when they entered a world where the darkness in everyone was filling the air like a haze of toxic gas, they no longer saw themselves as anything but a small bug who could be stepped on at any second.
We don't know much about Snowtuft, but he stuck around despite being treated like he was mud. He kept crawling back as if he was desperate for something. But, we'll never know his story so that's just something to think about.
We all knew he was afraid. But, he also was desperate.
Yes, I loved that part as well! I could never choose a favorite from these but that one certainly hit hard, for the exact reasons you mentioned. Man, the haunting music and his desperate panting against the tree...
Bro this is absolutely stunning! I love how all the characters are portrayed as if they actually don’t want to be there. I see it as a reminder that this is literally *cat hell.*
ok i’ll be honest, i was skeptical about the dual views the parts needed, but it was pulled off a lot better than expected! there was little issue with focus and where the eye was supposed to be directed towards, and the scenes compliment each other rather than feeling overwhelming and like too much is happening to really take it all in

This is the most interesting, unique, cinematic, stunningly animated map ive ever seen. Everything about this works. The colour palette, the song, the mood, the concept...it all comes together to immaculately capture some of the best elements of Warriors, executed in a way I've never seen before. Easily my new favourite map!! Thank you to the talented and wonderful people who all had a hand in creating this masterpiece.

I love that there are some cats, like Darkstripe, Cloudynight, Snowtuft, and others who regret what they have done and are genuinely horrified or upset at being in the Dark Forest. I kind of wish that's how it would be in the actual books. But I guess everyone there is happy to be in cat hell when hell is meant to be a place of suffering lol. Also THAT'S RIGHT ASHFUR TO THE DARK FOREST WHERE YOU BELONG FOR TRYING TO MURDER INNOCENT CATS lol

This is such a masterpiece! everything from the dark and grim color scheme with reds, blacks and greys, to each transition to frame being the same, I also adore the way how some of these animators managed to transition both sides of the frames to one animation, very clever. This has got to be one of my favorite all time MAPS!

This is one of the greatest MAPs I have ever witnessed watching. Easily now one of my all time favorites. Each and every single one of these artists, including yourself Amelia, deserve so much praise, recognition and follows for how well this came out. I got chills of excitement and awe from every part. Not a single one was lacking anywhere. And combining them all only blew my breath away.

I like the idea of the dark forest being an endless swamp you can't escape from.
And I also like that most of these cats in the map look like they don't even want to be there. In the books you actually never hear from a cat that regrets being evil and wants to leave the dark forest.

I like to imagine the dark forest cats suffer with extra pain from their victims and wrongdoings; mapleshade killing 3-4 cats, she suffers through those injuries every day, but has learned to mask it.
This map is just so great! The amazing emotions you all were able to capture is just outstanding! I love the mixture emotions all of them had when entering the Dark Forest! Sadness, Greif, Confusion, Anger, Happiness! It was so great! Amazing map, you all did a wonderful job!

This genuinely looks god damn BEAUTIFUL! Every animator, EVERY SINGLE ONE made a absolutely brilliantly animated piece. The animations are incredibly smooth and the colouring, shading and character designs look beautiful! Don't get me STARTED on the backgrounds! This is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL map and every single artist should be proud of themselves.
I still love this map and how it foreshadowed The Broken Code's evil waters in the Dark Forest... by complete accident lol
Holy crap this is pure gold every animation is so well thought out and honestly gorgeous
ok time to explain why each and every part is perfect
intro: those trees look so good and those little floating red particles that appear the whole time as a theme???? i love it it sets the atmosphere so well
part 1: the water looks uhhhh delicious as hell?? and the i love how i see the shock on hawkfrost's face as he emerges and realizes his life just ended and he'll be in this awful place forever, and his body on the left is cold and abandoned. his face is desperate i love it
part 2: hhhhh i could FEEL the ground shake from where i watched it, the camera moving was so powerful. i think these are the same two cats? so i love the parallel, that even when both are dead, they're both fueled with conflict and hate, how suspicious and angry the amber eyed cat looks, and how tired of all the fighting the one-eyed cat looks, and when the amber eyed cat dies it just looks down in cold contempt, no longer scared, robbed of life's emotions
part 3: EACH OF THESE STILLS COULD BE A PAINTING. The blood spattered on the moonstone is so beautiful and devastating, and i love how dejected the DF cat is even with a star on its forehead, as it means nothing here.
part 4: aAAAAH the stepped-on ant signifying how antpelt feels compared to the rest of his clan, and how he's isolated and hunched over in life, but confident and ruthless (and deranged to be so) he seems in death. his mini scheming expression on the left is so telling (also those red sparks and the animation are so smooth and prettyyy)
part 5: The slow motion is amazing!!! I love how i can pause when the cat is jumping and those red stars turn into little shooting stars. The perspective in the left side leaves me breathless. On the left, the cat looks shocked to have killed, but grows sure and confident, feeling unstoppable. On the right, the cat looks like it feels small and scared, not knowing what this place is or how to get out of it, or horrified by the fact that they'll never be able to escape.
part 6: im gonna cry at this one. it's so fluid and the dark gray cat's little unsure grimace at the end? how (i think it may be the same cat) is half submerged and crying in death on the right side?? how i can feel the dark gray cat's trust being broken by their companion actually being a killer and part of the DF??? i love this
part 7: this isn't a villain anymore; it's a broken, regret-filled cat who was confident and evil in life and now weeps for what they did. The tears and fur and blood dripping look simply incredible in this part. They look at their bloodstained paw in life and feel power; they look at it in death with disgust and apathy
part 8: the splash of water in both parts makes me s a l i v a t e it's so well animated. I love seeing thistleclaw's resent and bitterness near water now as he's dead and alone; the happy moments spent with snowfur in his life mean nothing now.
part 9: I love the parallel and the tail transition a lot, but also the dread-inducing violin part of the song fits so well here as the character prepares to possible kill an entire forest's worth of cats, and on the right side the character slowly submerges underwater, no longer able to drown. It almost looks like it's prepared to go somewhere and perhaps kill some more people?? and it doesn't even look like it cares, it's prepared to end your life with a look of detached fascination or dutiful resignation on its face. idk im intimidated and this cat doesn't even exist.
part 10: As usual, BEAUTIFUL, and the fps is used to its fullest potential and every little detail is put in there, like the cat's disgust at licking the DF mud-water-blood thing, rubbing its face maybe out of habit, and never being able to wash off their sins committed with blind rage in life. also its fur colors are kept so?? consistent?? like im looking at a real cat with every measurement meticulously planned out i love everything about this
part 11: those flickering lights dude im in LOVE. Hawk's expression at the word destroy is so perfect, and how he closes his claws over the sun?? I love it, and he's presented as a perky and attentive warrior in life, and what's haunting is that it doesn't change in his death, he's still chasing after something, but this time it's much more sinister. He sees his victims as nothing more than the fish he hunts as prey.
part 12: The sides look CONNECTED. i love how spotless all the transitions are, and the red cat looks downright betrayed on the right, and how it looks like it faked mourning for a cat and then is surrounded by beautifully textured fire. And the starclan cat having the furious crying red cat reflected in its eyes is so suspenseful and a killer way to end the part
part 13: and i am reminded; dying probably HURTS, dude. Ashfur is waking up into a pitiless and painful world, and i love how his eyes glow, i love the blood in the water and how starclan is watching him die, and how in shock and angry he looks at having just died right before ruining the lives of the people whose lives he wanted to ruin. i love how his red stars get brighter as he gets more dead and also angrier and driven to kill everyone.
part 14: This part is unique, and i love it for that. Flametail slowly drowning (ive heard drowning is a somewhat peaceful way to go?) and the dark forest under him, resembling lava. The regret on ivypool's face, the evil triumph on brokenstar's, and the defense and righteous anger on tigerheart?? i love that. But most of all, the end parallel of Flametail on the left peacefully and hazily letting go is just perfect paired with him breathing heavily, (ironically; breathing after he's died!) desperate for something; he's desperate to live. He doesn't want to die again for some sort of 'desitny' bullshit. He's scared.
part 15: Can i just say, i love this artstyle and how the fur moves in it? yeah i can. And also both sides of this are hearbreaking. Ivypool, discontent and fooled that she's in starclan, is being taken advantage of by a monster. she's half his size; she doesn't know what she's doing. And in the DF? her legs are stained with the DF's mud, and she's being a perfectly manufactured killer, so far than what she thought was true when she was an apprentice. This song is mournful, because that's what most of this is.
part 15: Again, this makes me fear mortality. Thanks, warrior cats fandom! that's what I expected to happen today when I went to you! Antpelt reassures himself as he goes to sleep, sure he'll wake up. He won't. He'll die in his sleep, and he'll be afraid and confused because his life really just was taken over by the DF. He doesn't want to die, and ivypool looks terrifying, consumed by her own fear of being killed by dead cats. He's stumbling, barely comprehending his sudden death before he fades again. This animation is disney tier and style, and i give his horror-fueled widening eyes a 100/10
part 16: this part is perfect in every way. How there's a dramatic zoom with the percussion part? How the two different styles on each side are perfect for the mood? How this fits so well with the theme; that he feels unstoppable, numb to the pain he's caused in life; he feels like the predator. But in death he's the prey, he's crying, he's sorry, he misses being alive when everything wasn't cold and dead and horrifying; he was faking in life. he was always a coward. being a terrible person isn't supposed to be glorified; he shouldn't feel badass for the things he's done in life. instead he feels vulnerable and pathetic and disgusting, and he's clutching onto the side of the tree for the last comfort and stability he's ever felt.
part 17: That COUGH though. that 360 DEGREE TURN?? i love it so much! and it reminds me of how much power tigerstar had and then lost, taken away by a faint childhood memory, and how bent on revenge he is now. he hasn't stopped living yet, and he'll continue to live through all the pain. I love how firestar's face is shown at the same time as his glare, because that's who he's fixated on now. Someone else to blame, and therefore someone else to kill.
part 18: Mapleshade looks so alone and beaten down on the left, and on the right, other than the smoothes run cycle known to man, she's delusional, a murderer, unmoved by the fact that it has all been her fault, and it ties so well to the book, that she welcomes this hell; it's her trophy now.
part 19: This cat has just killed an ender (innocent or not is pending) and poisoned it, daintily walking away, and i love how the lyrics are passed on, because this cat thinks this means nothing, that they won't be affected, but the moon and stars are watching, and now they'll pay forever, coughing up blood and weighted with all their sins.
part 20: I love the movement of the drops of liquid and the sparks here, and how the final confrontation seems to be burned into this cat's memory. Even in life, this cat has always been hateful and a killer.
part 21: This part looks so smooth hh,, the symbolism of something happening with the feathers?? the change in expression from tired desperation to cold and detached contempt? that head turn???? so wonderful. The water ripples and bird shadows look real. And every movement aligns with the animation, from the discordant singing to the dramatic percussion. As the white cat disappears into the border, i feel like i witnessed a murder as someone poked and looked around for answers and paid the ultimate price.
part 22: adfhashd the designs in this one look really good as does the real physical movement of ivypool's tumble! i love hawk's expressions, from his vicious satisfaction at watching ivypool become a killer, to his quiet disapproval or anger when alive and seeing mistyfoot be deputy, and i love how it seemed like mistyfoot could see his intentions, and how the parallel shows how a seemingly externally normal warrior could become such a terrible cat. And lastly, this might not be purposeful, but i love the fact that he always aimed to be second best, next to leopardstar or next to tigerstar.
part 23: This cat is truimphant on the left; they just pushed a cat off a cliff in the dead of night, unseen and powerful. but in the DF they're old and tired and falls down, so weary of the death they celebrated while alive. the style of this and all the details on the cat's face are so amazing!!!!!!!
